I have been thinking about this idea for a long time, and it seems pretty solid to me, the idea anyway, I dont know about the outcome.

My ninja is level 63 right now and Ive never parsed anything, but I came up with a pretty cool idea which has probably been done before but hear me out.

When my NIN is 75 I want to parse it, but under some neat circumstances.

A. My Weapons will be:
1. Amanojako - The Katana which increases in damage with lower HP
2. Ryumon - the katana with latent effect of attack bonus when shadows are up

B. I will wear Shinobi earring and shinobi ring for 24% Haste plus dusk gloves or something with 1% more haste to max me out.

C. after those are fulfilled I want to get to red hp and parse the weapons on ws's, tp gain, the works.

My basis on this is that with that much haste my timers will almost always be ready when I need them, and with that combination of weapons althought lacking crit hit rate, I think it would be able to do massive damage.

Throw in str and dex boosters for jin, or ku. Wear either a hauby or byrnie or something for ws, and for tpgain either koga body, or ninja body and koga hakama.

I do not know much about melee because well... I am a bard but Lemme know what you think of this idea.

Having to stay in red hp in order to get those latent effects to work is a bad idea. Without your shadows, your hp will drop really fast, and one good AoE would take you out if you're in the red. I think you'd end up dying more than you'd be able to get really good data.

As I said in the other thread; with the Ryumon, the attack boost be barely noticeable. If you have 650 attack, with shadows up the katana will only give you +8 attack; sure it'll be giving you attack but at that point you'd hardly notice it's effect. I'd imagine that a fudo would parse higher, given it's higher base damage and the +3% crit on the weapon; but that's something you'd have to test.

Cobroli don't have any aoe that would hurt him provided he's not tanking and all other pt members voke to ensure he doesn't get hate.

They do have a 4-hit TP move, and that's also dependent on finding the few people who are not retarded so they'd actually provoke the mob when needed.

That katana is crap. Use Unji off-hand for speed since you got a nice haste setup.

A guy I know did try shinobi ring during a merit PT (try and stay low-HP enough for ring latent to fire) and ended up dying, no wonder (I recall the "don't cure me, don't cure me" right before he died). He actually did a crapload of damage before he did: a full-haste build on NIN works very nicely. It's just not practical when u gotta stay at low-HP for it to work.

Try it for fun, die, and change to a more regular setup with 22-23% haste like everyone else, which is more than enough to non-stop attack with haste-march.

Yeah i know all about the 4 hit move. A ninja deck out with that much haste would probably get hate easy hence i said find people that would voke constantly. Finding people that know what theyre doing is near impossible though.

If you do this, try setting up a static with a tank, while you go nin/thf. Ive always wanted to try nin/thf but I am limited to nin/war because of what people in game expect you to do as a nin, so theres no leeway as to job experimentation in exp pt's.

thf is a horrible sub for DD on ninja. you lose alot of STR, berserk, double attack, and provoke(if you wanted). all for gain of sata and some evasion? lol

Considering nin's best weaponskill is a multi-hit, /thf wouldn't offer much other than the evasion bonus trait; and it wouldn't give as much of an increase in damage as double attack(especially on weapon skills) and berserk. Thf is a horrible sub for damage period, the only place where it's even remotely effective is on a slow-but-powerful attacker; which nin is a fast-but-weak attacker.

mmmm what benefit do you see to going /thf? the guy is talking about overloading on haste, and attacking more often. The attack boost and double attacks from war sub would massacre any SA damage and the evasion bonus would hardly be needed with the massive loss of dps.

ya, but youre missin what a lot of NIN's dont do, which is ranged attack. I guess you could try /rng too, but idk, I am only a NIN34, thats what I wanna try it now, I dont have those other abilities that war gives to worry about, really.

I spammed shuriken for hate at those levels, but later on your melee damage doesn't suck. Given the state of gear now, your total melee damage would probably beat spamming shuriken. Ranger would be infinitely superior to thf for ranged attacks, you don't see cor/thf or rangers subbing thf; /thf gives nothing besides a little AGI for ranged attacks.

You still have berserk and provoke at level 34, btw.

so.... nins should sub thief... for ranged attacks... i have a feeling i am NOT in fact missing a lot of what ninjas do and i have a feeling that you really need to stop posting in this thread

ya, but Im also in a duo nin static until 37, so I kinda have a little freedom. I didnt level throwing like I should have, I instead used a gun, which was a mistake really. Not as expensive as shuriken though.

I also notice spamming the elemental wheel (once you have the Ni spells) is a very good way to build damage, (this was in CN though) which a lot of NIN Ive pt'd with dont do. There was a taru nin there spamming the wheel, doing 90 damage each spell, which add's up fast. I think many nin dont do it because they dont understand that they weaken the mob agaianst certain elements, so that you can use the powerful elemental Ni spell next

Shuriken were running under the cost of a stack of bullets when I was using them(~9k a stack vs 15k a stack), so they were actually cheaper.

You're supposed to spin the wheel from when you get it until the mid-high 50's(don't even bother on colibri's); as it's the best way to build/hold hate at those levels. After that point, they get resisted often and your melee damage picks up so you actually outdamage your ni's by just meleeing. If most nin's don't do that, they're idiots who don't bother researching their job at all or they have the best gear around to be able to hold hate with just their melee damage. /Thf still isn't a good option for a subjob though.

ya, now its 9k stack for bullets vs 20k stack of shuriken (last I checked) not very encouraging, but ya know, gotta bite the bullet lol

Are you buying from the NPC or the AH? I avoided the AH because everything was overpriced.

AH, but I do believe the bullets were cheaper there, wouldve hunted for shuriken had I thought to lv throwing (which Im doin on thf now, lol, boomerang much less expensive)

Nin can use reusable Chakrams, I kept my throwing capped all the way to 42 or wherever I left it.

Any nin who doesn't spam the wheel at 40... they've got some learning to do. The whole reason I stopped levelling nin is because I was hooked on the wheel like a hooker on crack and couldn't afford the stacks.
