Keits, you say you are using a different standard of judgement that us, fine and dandy. I think that using your standards it is easy to agree that its not a final fantasy game, but just what makes your standards any more correct than the rest of ours?

You cant seem to agree to disagree on this. You see your view as correct, and anyone else is a retard for not agreeing. You cant tell me that you can prove what makes a final fantasy game a final fantasy game because it is vague. Had the sequals been direct sequals of the origional it would be much easier to define, but this is not the case. Like it or not, each one is different, some moreso than others. You could argue that 8 is not a real one because of the setting, you could argue that any one after the first is a spin off because they arent direct sequals, and yes, you can argue that 11 isnt a real one because it is an MMO. However you can also argue that they are because there is no absolute rule defining what a final fantasy is. If you want to believe that each final fantasy has to be a single player rpg that is fine, but as you know there is no way to prove that your view is more correct than anyone elses because you lack mathmatical facts. You cant say that someone is saying 2+2=5 on this one Keits because there are no absolutes; face facts, you are neither wholly right or wrong, neither are the rest of us.

Sure, you can say its a fact that each final fantasy was an RPG, thats true, but does this mean that they HAVE to be rpgs? Once you are able to prove that you can call people retards.

-Ham

FFXI is not an FF game, by the standard of GAMEPLAY, which is core to VIDEO GAMES.

FFXI is not a console RPG, by the standard of gameplay, which is core to video games.

You define tradition one way, I define it another way. To me, Square started to break the tradition in FF6, and progressively distanced from it until they returned to it in FF9. I NEVER CLAIMED THAT THE SERIES MADE A WHOLE UP TO 11, WHICH IS WHY GAMEPLAY ISN'T THE CORE OF MY ARGUMENT! IT IS TO YOURS BECAUSE YOU HAVE A DIFFERENT OPINION OF WHAT MAKES UP A TRADITION!!!

And you still don't want to admit to it. You're basically saying to come play in your backyard so you can more easily lay the smack-down on anyone who doesn't share your views.

I hardly feel welcomed. And I'm fucking tired of repeating myself countless times.

If this were a debat about what defines tradition, i would agree to disagree. It is not. Its a statement:

In this context(gameplay/presentation),FFXI is not a Traditional FF game. No if ands or buts about it. The statement, made under the context that ive defined, is not something that warrents you trying to pick apart what exactly defines traditional. That part is subjective, obviously.

Oh and [sarcasm], Masterorion is right. FFXI and FF1's gameplay have OODLES in comon. [/sarcasm].

In closing, a Traditional FF Style MMO is possible. I have about 200 pages of design documents illustrating exactly how to do it. This, FFXI, is not it. FFXI is a brother to the Everquest school of MMORPG design.

Actually, its less a brother and more a twin on steroids.

Keits, why do you still read this message board or even this thread? Doesn't it feel like it taxes on your mental capacity to keep up (on a daily basis) with this retardedness? I'm pretty sure you can find something better to do with your time. I've heard you complain so much about hating stupid people, yet you keep coming back for more. It's a most fascinating study in the behavior patterns of the Keits.

This I cannot answer. My coming to forums to read the ammazing ammounts of stupidity has become compulsive.

Keits: FFXI isnt an FF game
Others: Yes it is.
Keits: Ill reword that; In terms of gameplay, FFXI is not a traditional FF game.
Others: But in terms of other things, it is a traditional FF game.
Keits: No, thats not what Im saying. Im saying in terms of GAMEPLAY and PRESENTATION, that FFXI is a brother to EQ infinitly more so than FF.
Others: But in terms of universe/world, its FF.
Keits: I dont care that you want to call it an FF because of the themes and characters, thats not what has been said here, why are you so incomprensibly stupid that you cannot just read a statement, ask me to clarify, and then shut the fuck up? Why do you have to twist it into an arguement about that defines tradition in the first place?
Other: I like chocobos.
Keits: WTF?
Other: I hated EQ, even though its the same game as FFXI.
Keits: WTF?
Others: I really like moogles.

This is a synopsis of how I feel about the bulk of you posting your out-of-context bullshit in this thread. Start a new one to debate what tradition is. I dont care how YOU define it. In the context of the way I've chosen to definite it (which was clearly illustrated to you), my statement is 100% correct.

hey dumbass, if you would pull your head out of our ass long enough, you would have noticed that i didnt mention gameplay anywhere in my post

[not sarcasm] teh keits=teh stupid [/not sarcasm]

i said it had similarities and thats it. char types are similar, some monster types are similar, npc types, wpns etc. the world most definately is different and obviously ff1 is turn based and not interactive at all.
the gameplay of the ff1 doesnt compare to ffxi.

just what really makes ffxi untraditional? it has almost all the same features as the one originall ff. the only thing that it doesnt have is random encounters(that i can think of atm). of course ffxi is not the same exact game and yes its a different type of game but its generally the same. people sit in front of the ah all day long and if you were to play ff1 you have the same abiltiy to just sit there in the town and do nothing. ffxi is an interactive ff and if that is what makes it untraditional, well...thats really stupid.

Did you even read your own post? Your post points almost entirely to gameplay aspects, and what you can and can not do.

God damnit, forgot the rest:

Furthermore; your post, like the others off the topic, arnt even discussing something relivant.

Id ask you to take your head out of your ass, but you probably cant read this from in there.

nice one there mr dumbass. maybe you should bold all of the original. well here. let me do it for you seeing that your incompetent to do it on your own without your wifes help....

is not the same exact game---oops you forgot a couple words to bold. with that said. it makes this bolding that you did; true---different type of game.

hmmm makes me wonder if you can read or if you just like to get on here to try to make people look stupid. whatever it is, you dont do well at it.
think about it this way, all of these people are making points against you. your the one out of a "million" (/em hmm im sure he will try to throw that quote back in my face) that truly believes what you say is totally fact. the only fact that it makes is...well hell, not all you say is totally fact. its only fact to you because its what you think. look around keits. all of the people on this board have for the most part; disagreed with you. with that said....stfu

You want to know why FFXI is a Final Fantasy game? Because square says it is.

Mazda: We're going to make truck!
Everyone: But Mazda only makes cars!!! It won't be a mazda if it's a truck!!
Mazda: Last time I checked I was manufacturing it and if I want to slap the Mazda logo on it I can
Everyone: But that's wrong!!!
Mazda: Then go make your own.

If Square says it's a FFXI game they're in the right. Last time I checked it was their decision. It's like Nintendo. If they want to call a Tennis game "Mario Tennis" they can because A) Mario Belongs to them and B) They made the damn game.

Argue it until your fingers are pink...It's a Final Fantasy game.

PS: For all you arguing that this isn't a Final Fantasy game...go look at the box. Last time I checked it said "Final Fantasy"

I agree with most of the people making a more in-depth argument that this is a Final Fantasy title but the best argument you can make is that the box says it is. It's like saying "Final Fantasy VII Advent Children" Isn't a Final Fantasy because it's a movie...Well that argument would be wrong because It is a Final Fantasy.

Only fools in this thread are argueing about what square chose to name the game. That is not what Im saying.

I will not type it again after this: From the standpoint of GAMEPLAY and PRESENTATION, FFXI is not a TRADITIONAL FF GAME.

If this statement doesnt sit with you, you are either reading this in the wrong context, or are completely butt-fucking retarded.

Keits its best just to drop it bud i dont think anyone will realize wat your saying for a few years

because he says my extreme logic

Keits fears logic

then again so does everyone methinks
