He also confirmed that development on Final Fantasy XI's third expansion pack began simultaneouly with Chains of Promathia's development. He however refused to give away any specifics regarding this new expansion.

possible? not possible? or even a complete hoax. Discuss.

Sage Sundi explained that discussions about a launch in China were underway, however due to the unique market environment (such as a law requiring servers to be set up within the People's Republic), it would be difficult to release Final Fantasy XI in China.

If this part of the article actually happens, we are in for some serious CGS problems. They'll have localized servers, and Auto-Translate function for Chinese > English... Now, if they get local servers, shouldn't AMERICA, half the game's players get some too? Sorry to hijack thread kinda.

As to the OP, I'd like to see more classes come to be but I think they've pretty much tapped out the balance of this game. There are no real classes they "left out", with the possible exception of a Blue Mage (enemy skill user) and maybe a fourth option for tanking. We already have a well rounded mage selection, a well rounded damage section, and tanking is a close heat between 3 styles. None of these really NEED improvement at all. Ninjas are so impatient to see if they finally get another Utsusemi to waste all their gil on, when they don't need it. Summoners are so impatient to see if they get new summons, when they barely get to use the ones they have, and already have all the elements covered as it is, so a non-elemental would be the only logical addition. You know what I'd like to see in an expansion? More actions taken on those using greif tactics and third party hacks, more bans of sellers, harsher actions taken on MPKers. I'd like to see more low level content, and more high level content. I'd like to see more random things to do, like a gold-saucer style place to waste time (and gil) while LFP. PVP Tournaments would be nice too, especially free-for-all ones. I'm just tossing out random ideas here.

Random things to do while looking for party would make me broke...

I agree, Taurothar.

Actually, Tauro... Now that I think about it.

If you take the full "Sha'ir" set (BRD 72+ JSE) and paint it Sky Blue, and
give it a "Falchion" type sword, you have an exact duplicate of a
"Blue Mage" right there, lol

...

As for the expansion. The TITLE of the Expansion's already been listed on
www.GameFaqs.com ... Just look up FAQs for FFXI...

There's been so many rumors floating around that somehow it

"Involves Time-Travel in which adventurers journey back to the time of
the 'Great War' in Tavnazia."

But that's still nothing more than a rumor. No confirmation yet.

I hope this shit comes out on xbox, I would buy it in a heart beat. Solving my problems :D

While it would be really nice to see some more end game content, I think I'd rather them do something to get more people interested in the end game content.

Or put in some ungodly gil sink to take a shit load of money out of the economy. This inflation problem we're having right now, happened in EQ1. And they got around it by introducing mounts. It thinned the economy out considerably, I'm told (my friend literally did nothing but play that game for a solid year and a half).

What do I realistically expect? More shit I can't access.

CoP 4-2 LFG god damnit!

well as far as classes, i would love to have a Geomancer....but i prolly will never have one.

I would like to see more equipment choices at pretty much all levels....I hate to see everyone in the party wearing pretty much the same thing....

Change how the armor looks, cause all the harnesses look pretty much the same. How hard is it to atleast change the colors around?

I mean, yeah i mostly get things for stat increases, but i prefer to wear stuff that looks cool. Its almost to the point where everyone is starting to look the same.

So i say more equipment choices at all levels.

Also more different things to do, i agree with the golden saucer like idea...or how about, since no one plays the card game, insert the card game INTO FFXI, and you could play people on the spot, and maybe do quests to get new cards and stuff like that.

Chocobo races would be cool.

More transportation options, and maybe personal transportation options.

How about we get our own chocobos....BUT you need like a gyshal greens to ride them for as long as you want, like gas. You run out of greens, no more chocobo until you get more greens. BUT for all the choco diggers, you could still dig with rented chocobos, and rented chocobos would not need the greens as fuel, since they already have a time limit.

And then you could name your chocobo..... Then everyone could see Warky McKweh as i run by!

oh, and make Weapon Bash useful, give drk's Warp and Drain-aga.

It exists. It's called relic weapon upgrading. Just that no one does it.

if you mean Final Fantasy XI: Girade no Genei. I believe that's the japanese title of either Chains of Promathia or Rise of Zilart.

Relic weapon upgrading is NOT a particularly good gil-sink... >.>

I'd love to see an option to upgrade the AH slots available. We can use 7 slots of the 10 we always see on the screen, so why not let us spend money to increase the number of slots we have? Make it reasonably high but not exorbitant, and people would fall over themselves to get more slots, at least for their main characters.

Hmmm... what else...

Obviously having some sort of player-built areas could draw gil out of the economy. LS castles, or whatever. The trick would be working them into the game smoothly...

Adding more face/hair models to the game and allowing people to change theirs for a price (much like changing the name of your Wyvern for DRG) could pull some gil out.

Amusingly, having BCNMs you BUY your way into would also draw money out of the economy. Put an arena in Jeuno, buy your competition ticket, try your luck. Collect points, earn prizes, amaze your friends! Make the good prizes all Rare/Ex and you might be on to something there. I suppose that's just another part of the Gold Saucer idea. ^^;

More synth recipes involving NPC-only items is another way, but that is kinda iffy. Seems to me that the synthers don't pull as much out as a lot of them put back in.

As for other content...

New jobs would be interesting, particularly in conjunction with the Xbox 360 release. The problem would be fitting in new concepts that work. I'm tempted to go over my previous FF titles w/ job systems and try to find some that could be added without too much alteration. ^^

To be honest, I'd like to see a little more range of equipment at lower levels.

Meh, I'll think more about it later...

Yes, that's the first expansion pack for FFXI.

I think it's realistic to expect a return to end-game content with this next expansion pack. There will certainly be another pack, and the dev. team has already mentioned that endgame does not have the influence that it used to. That could be taken either way--either they don't feel that endgame development is the correct way to enhance the game, or that they're finally comfortable with expanding it again now that it's not got a death-grip on the content.

I would have no problem with them fleshing out middle-game again like they did with CoP. It would emphasize that the game isn't just 70-75, and that you don't have to be 75 to play the game.

They may also functionally unlock more endgame content, like relic weapons--making them easier to upgrade. Old farts may whine like they did with the xp change, but relic weapons are functionally out of reach for any realistic player demographic. And that's not a good thing. That's not rewarding the hardcore players. That's wasted development effort if the only people who make use of it are the people who quite honestly need to play less for their own human value's sake.

Any new expansion should be a very good thing though. Now that the game is in its maintenance phase, all they have to do now is follow their fanbase all the way home. Adding content isn't likely to add more players, so they'll likely shift expansion intentions from recruitment to player wishes.

I'd like to see one huge zone with tiny villages and enemy encampments scattered thoughout.

Basically just give us one huge place ala GTA/EQOA with invisible enemy borders that send the mob back to its spawn point in some places to keep people from training something from one side to the other and also to zone since the zones would be too far away.

I would love to see an LS hall. You can enter without an LS, but the building would appear empty. Once you enter, the Linkshell equip/unequip option would be grayed out. You would be able to see other members of your LS only, and player-run shops could exist within. For instance, if some member of the LS is famous for constantly farming Silk Thread, and there is also a high level clothcrafter in the LS, but they're never on at the same time and the farmer doesn't have a mule, the problems are solved with his little silk shop.^^ There could be, say, three shops inside the hall, and to set up shop and dump items into one stall you'd need to have approval from the LS leader. It could also be a fun place to hang out with your LS mates, and there could be a little circular arena for PvP, complete with wagers between the participants and spectators (money and items being simply transferred from player to player, not created by the game as this would encourage cheating). I don't know, this is just stuff I think up when I should be doing more important things like sleeping.

P.S. New page bishes.8)

Necromancer, Time Mage and Blue Mage and I'll be happy... And Bahamut :D

More low lvl content as was pointed out, and what Veteran said is a great idea... just imagine Mog House lag multiplied by 5,946,357,248,325...

I'd love to see soloable areas, too. Places where you can kill things by yourself that are EM, that aren't too hard or too easy, just fun.

Customizing clothing colors would be fun, too. Could set up a shop in a small town like Selbina, in the Weaver's guild, I think... or was it Mhaura? w/e...

I'd also like to see SE give a shit about us... Wishful thinking...
