a new expansion...?

One thing I really like was from EQoA which I thought kicked ass (most of the game I didn't like much) was when the deathfist (read: beastmen) raided Freeport. IT was awesome, they would randomly aspawn and there would be a fight to the death. I think it would be badass to see beastmen spawn someday in jeuno and kill all those useless mules (no xp loss of course). Then there could be diff level mobs and boss mobs which could drop cool gear. Lotsa lag but it's an idea >.>

I was there 8)

My magician and pet soloed the equivalent of 4 easy prey mobs at once.
Like we'll ever have that power >_>

yeah, have attacks on the cities with beastmen...

Like who ever is in last place, their city gets attacked....

How about having:
-humanoid enemy models
-enemies that do more than just wander around
-zones that don't constrict you to a path
-attacking guards at outposts and gates
-enemy encampments
-villages within zones
-greatly varying geology within zones
-swimming
-flight (doubtful)
-replace the Auction House with a real auction system
-with this new auction system, any new armor/items (as well as current ones if you're new) will be unknown to us unless someone has it on auction and it meets our query specifications
-not having armor in a listed form accessible to everyone will lead to less people wearing the same things
-more armor so every job/level combination doesn't look the same
-expand on the merit point system, making it open to all levels giving you stats and abilities to earn to make your character unique
-abilities for all classes that can be dropped besides just mage spells
-rework the levels, having 1000 hp at lvl 60 is not Final Fantasy at all
-have a natural heal-over-time and mana-over-time stat
-completely rework the NM and rare item system, such as making rare items drop off of possibly anything based on the mob's type, level, and location
-make NM's spawn possible anywhere in the zone
-get rid of preset mining/logging/harvesting points, make them completely random in places where the elements that are needed exist
-a place that's always accessible where we can just beat the crap out of each other or some bots without penalty or reward
-evil people/nations; honestly, since we only fight monsters you have no one to look at the way you would look at Shin-ra, Sephiroth, Seifer, Edea, Sin, Rufus, etc. Goblins, Orcs, Quadav, Yagudo, Demons, and the Shadow Lord do not install the same feeling in me.

I want to XP on that band of Taru and Elvaan bandits who have an encampment/hide-out in the desert, not some random animal that's just wandering aimlessly in circles.

You just stated mostly everything from WoW, with a few addons.

And if the AH was turned into a REAL auction it would be hell for the unloaded.

Welcome to World of Warcraft.

If FF makes all these radical changes, it wont be FF anymore.

Things the next expansion WILL need:

1. Money BCNM- BCNM with new items/existing items. P2P
2. New jobs *Berserker, Blue Mage, Rune Knight*
3. Railways/Chocobo Breeding

I have commented on the other job classes in the past.

Blue Mage would be an awesome mage job, but would require an interesting timer/spell setup. There is a horde of nice abilites out their to learn, but it'd take some serious balancing. Also, imagine some of the scroll quests that could be added.

Rune Knight would be a new tank, or even a DD that could replace the RDM/BRD slot in parties. Opening up parties to melee and increasing the job count on tanking/refresh whoring to three would be a nice addition. It would also help solve that pesky Rdm/Nin problem.

Berserker would be similar to Mnk or War with break techniques and or passive berserk bonus. Interesting new job/subjob.

I know this is kinda far back in the thread but I just got back from a 5 day hiatus from being on the internet. Anyway...

I WAS THERE TOO! That was so awesome. I remember my friend told me "OMG THE DEATHFIST ORCS ARE ATTACKING FREEPORT!" So I caught the coach back up north from Tea and ran around like an idiot before getting stuck in the well. I didnt really do much, my Rogue Dwarven ass was only level 31 and my dagger needed to be repaired but I was out of bloody Tunar..never could have enough Tunar...Anyways...I think the Blue Mage could be a viable Solo job. I mean..What better way to gain enemy abilities than fighting them yourself? And at that..

How dangerous would a Bomb Drop be if the Goblin managed to make you drop it mid cast and it lands on your pt o_o. BLU pt (No Thanks.)

Berserker

*cough*Monk*cough*

*cough* D&D has Berserker as a prestige class *cough*
*cough* Much like PLD it's more advanced at doing 1 thing *cough*
*cough* It wouldn't work anyway, just screw over some other DD *cough*

If this part of the article actually happens, we are in for some serious CGS problems. They'll have localized servers, and Auto-Translate function for Chinese > English... Now, if they get local servers, shouldn't AMERICA, half the game's players get some too? Sorry to hijack thread kinda.

As to the OP, I'd like to see more classes come to be but I think they've pretty much tapped out the balance of this game. There are no real classes they "left out", with the possible exception of a Blue Mage (enemy skill user) and maybe a fourth option for tanking. We already have a well rounded mage selection, a well rounded damage section, and tanking is a close heat between 3 styles. None of these really NEED improvement at all. Ninjas are so impatient to see if they finally get another Utsusemi to waste all their gil on, when they don't need it. Summoners are so impatient to see if they get new summons, when they barely get to use the ones they have, and already have all the elements covered as it is, so a non-elemental would be the only logical addition. You know what I'd like to see in an expansion? More actions taken on those using greif tactics and third party hacks, more bans of sellers, harsher actions taken on MPKers. I'd like to see more low level content, and more high level content. I'd like to see more random things to do, like a gold-saucer style place to waste time (and gil) while LFP. PVP Tournaments would be nice too, especially free-for-all ones. I'm just tossing out random ideas here.[/quote]

I love you man. You took the time to say exactly what I wanted without me having to lift a finger or put up with the hate-spam for. XD Everyone always wants new jobs, why? So they can whine they're not getting parties and not level 75 in a month? Pssh. More summons is a joke, too. "You're SMN, right? Get out there and main heal then!" when you're level 22. While I can't say I'd waste *my* gil at a casino, I can say that it seems 5,000 gilsellers would have new bots there, so I think that's my only argument. It *might* reduce Lower Jeuno traffic, but if people just make casino bots it would only burden servers more.

Anyways, I have no idea where I'm going with this now. I just wanted to THANK you for what needed to be said.

Thanks for the compliment. As for casino bots, I wasn't talking about a gambling situation, I was talking more of mini-games. I.E. Snowboarding, choco racing, battle arena, and maybe a pay service to change the colors of your armor to make them look unique. An alternate idea for that last one is have the option to choose the color if you make a signed item. That would increase the draw of crafting and not buying from the AH as all signed items would lose their signature AND their special coloring. Just a thought.

Hmmm... I think the armor painting could get visually painful, but it's nod a bad idea. Visual editing and programming nightmare, though. :(

I'd like to see a job added along the lines of Riiku's Mix abilities in FFX. They could call it Chemist, or Alchemist. I could see it being a cash drain for all the mix items, but would definitely be something different.

Another job that would be fun, would be a warrior class that could chain attacks together, sort of along the lines of Ashley in Vagrant Story. I imagine the programming would have trouble handling it, but it would provide a challenge rather than just hitting attack and sitting back to watch.

Not entirely, it's the same code really just adding in a slider control to the values of the colors instead of having a single texture file. I could see them doing it, they have the programming skillz lol. If I can make a bouncing ball that alters colors and speeds based on sliders after only one semester of java, they can make armor that does it with style.

The trick with bringing in new jobs would be finding ones that aren't just rehashed versions of the existing jobs. I have no problem with putting in, say, a Time Mage (Hastega, Slowga, etc), and what would no doubt be a complaint from some Smn that one of their special abilities was getting shafted. I'm pretty sure that the first JP Rdm to see a Brd bust out a Ballad felt pretty much the same way. But there aren't a whole lot of original concepts consistent with the FF universe that would work all that well with FFXI I think. Enemy skills, time magic, those are fairly easy. But a new melee class in particular would be kinda tricky to fit in. Support jobs are always easier. ^_~ Chemist from FF:T is another example of a support job that would probably be interesting to throw in FFXI.

I for one would think blue mage would suck in ffxi.

I'm all for them making every job more powerful. Make us kick a little more ass, give everyone a new goodie or two, nobody feels left out and the game is made better.

Blue Mage, Mimic and Geomancer sound like the only classes that'd work reasonably well in FFXI (at least to me), and even then there'd be issues of them being extremely unbalanced
(Can only think of maybe 4 things Blue Mage could learn from mobs that wouldn't be VERY easily abused;
Mimic's skill/equipment setup would be insanely difficult and any kindof subjob on Mimic would make it redundant; Geomancer would be extremely fun if they could link their abilites to the terrain/current weather, but that'd also be incredibly difficult to set up, or for that matter, make balanced.)

Heard of ideas such as Pirate and stuff, but frankly, that sounds way, way too similar to Thief, doesn't it? =P In my opinion, that above-stated (all jobs from previous FF games, to boot) seem like the only jobs that could really work well.

Personally, I'd adore a Mimic class. But as already said, that sortof class couldn't be made without being totally butchered in comparison to how it originally was, and if not changed, itd be extremely weak or extremely overpowered. Also dunno how they're pull off any armor before AF, as well as weapons, since, well, normally, Mimics just automatically attacked with whatever the last person did (would look REALLY weird in FFXI), and they normally couldn't use armor at all (easily remidied in FFXI, but there'd still be the weapon issues, etc)

It think it would be very hard for them to add a new class. Just think of how many people would be trying to level it at once!

Maybe it would be better to give new abilities to the existing classes.
