If I install the game on friends computer, would it be illegal for me to play from his ISP? Like when I'm home, I play on my computer, and when im at his house, I play there, you know what I mean?

There's nothing wrong with doing this, the game is licenced for 1 person to use, and you can't use two copies at same time, but since game comes and is tied to a PoL account, it becomes impossible to break ToS piracy wise.

I'm using the same CDs I installed on my other computer.

Also, FFXI update is so insane. 14,588 files...

If you are using the same log in information and registration keys, it should be fine.

People do move to other places, replace old computers, and change ISPs all the time. It would be somewhat silly to fill out a form for a change of ISP, computer, etc.

Just making sure. I treasure my account info. I don't even MESS with windower or anything. I don't want 3 years going to waste.

Buying FFXI basically gives you one seat to a server license. It doesnt matter where you install the client software (in this case, the game) - your license is centered moreso around your character.

Making copies of the CDs, that's trouble. Installing it on multiple workstations, no problem.

As well, all dial-up and some high speed providers don't use static IPs still. If your provider is one of them, every time your modem reconnects to net(from power loss, turning it off, etc,) you're given a new IP Address. So yeah, different IPs won't set off any negative alarms.

My friend used to come round to my house and play his character here alot, I don't see anything wrong with it.

SE might advise not to do such a thing because you never know what dubious software could be installed on the PC you're playing on, and in this way your account details can be easily stolen and sold / pillaged of all the good stuff you've worked for.

I really do not think its illegal personaly. I know you can do it, used my CDs on at least 3 diffrent computers. You can not re-use the CD key and without that you can not log on. You can contact customer service and ask them if you realy feel strongly about it.

When I first started playing FFXI on the PC I used my friend's discs to install. Since I already had my account from my PS2 copy all I had to do was enter that in when prompted. No CD keys or anything like that. So it doesn't matter where you install the game, as long as you have an account, you can play it.
