A Question for the Blue Mages

Of late, I've been farming some in Tahrongi as WHM/THF. While running about, I've seen numerous BLUs down to their last 10% hp fighting mobs on their last 5% or less hp. I know these BLUs are trying to learn spells, but when I see a player that low, I tend to toss a cure or 2 their way, maybe a Protect and/or a Shell. This, of course, tends to turn the mob in my direction, though they remain claimed.

In any case, my question is this: If the mob uses the technique you want on me, while you keep claim, are you still able to learn it?

'Tis hard to ignore people who're in the red hp, but I don't want to mess up your chance of learning new spells either. I'm given to understand that you can learn if the technique is used on anyone in your pt, but I won't be, soo...?

yes you can still learn it. i belive thats the way i had to learn blast bomb

Ok, good. I've seen how long it can take to have a mob build up enough TP to use it's technique, and I didn't want to ruin that. At the same time, I didn't want to have to sit back and watch people die, either.

yup, you can also learn it on a too weak mob with a lvl 75 in the party killing it for you while you're half-way across the zone. So yeah, it won't matter XD

Hell, you could even go to Dynamis/Assault/Besieged(/limbus) and learn your spells while another party kill it. Although for those I don't know if you need to have tried hitting the mob once or not ;

Not in Dynamis or Besieged, the mobs need to be xp-giving ones.

No, there's reports of people learning Spinal Cleave, Tail Slap etc. from besieged.

That's just scary, somehow. ;; Just... wow.
Doesn't really apply to the situation I was asking about, but still nice to know, since I plan to unlock BLU but haven't as yet...

Yeah, I've helped my BLU friend learn some spells from tougher mobs and tanked and pretty much killed the mob for them, and they learned the spell when it was used on me.
