Just curious, it's late, and I was wondering what the typical ranger favors weapon-wise....

guns, crossbow, or bow...

of course this all depends on one's personal income when taking into consideration ammunition, delay, acc etc.

but what do you like using the most? and why?

(I know personally I prefer using bow over crossbow/gun)
 
:O i like my e.bow :3 Fast and Good damage. I cant stand the gun, too slow, and I never liked how my crossbow never seemed to shell out enough damage.

Basicly, gun is useless. Too slow for its damage, looses out to almost everything else.
Crossbow is nice, because Holy Bolts never get old, and Acid bolts really help out the party as a whole.
Bow is for the damage, but the only one bettert han O.Bow is the E.Bow, and not everyone can shell out 10-12m for 10% more damage.
 
I've pretty much stopped using my ranger for EXP situations but when I did party, I had my best parses with Ebow in normal cannon situations. For Bhaflau Thickets I ditched the Ebow and went to gun. As far as I'm concerned, Obow is useless unless you're cheap or you're in ballista.
 
cross bow is more for status effects.

gun if you on Distance.dl can use your daggers and shot and get faster TP if you know how
 
I preferred E.bow/Selenes Bow while playing ranger, and pre-nerf I used gun/crossbow more. Post nerf they just don't seem too worthwhile.
 
Back in the day before rng was nerfed like idk 12 months ago? (why i quit before) gun was the best!brd and 5rngs in sky .... dont get me started on the xp youd merit up the ass.......anywho sence the updat go with something quick and a good ele arrow or the classic scrop arrow or whatever the arrow is at your lvl.

Although my Rng is only in the 40's I like using everything. If I get bored of one thing I switch to another, I don't use guns much because they're not that great until 50 I've heard. But I like switching my gun in when the party is in trouble for barrage and EES.
 
i rember pre nerf a rng/war with a kraken in valley S and s/he would do 2-3 sidewinders a fight from the KC

I tried a bunch of crap after the nerf and settled into Musketeer's+1 gun with woodvilles/fransisca as rng/nin. All I used it for was limbus, and it was enough to pull hate over a pld while not dragging the mob away from the melee or sucking down mp getting healed. I even ended up tanking one temenos west after our pld dc'ed as we were going in.
 
heres the sum up im a 75 rng although im not the most experienced 75 rng.

Gun
Yes it is slow but a good weapon like the hellfire+1 has really good acc and atk bonus for one weapon. the damage is realy good too which does make up for it. it gets about 17-18 tp per shot i noticed I havent checked xbow and bows yet though. guns suck against certain mobs too I only think gun is worth while for gods/hnms and xpin on low def mobs.

Xbow
I think this is the bestall purpose rng weapon mainly the obow. lowest dmg out of all the ranges weapons but the ammo is the chespest. however a skilled rng would have at least 3-4 different kinda bolts (holy, darksteel, acid, bloody) those are the main important ones, blind bolts are realy good for soloing some nms, farming. With acid bolts my slug shots are equal to my gun slug shots. rng/war with xbow and the right ammo ive got 2500 slugs on imps b4.

Bows
Bow basicly suck post 60 unless you get a Ebow or you get that HQ shiego bow at lvl 70 or even the Sbow. the war bow+1 is really no good past lvl 60 im my opinion. Ive noticed that rapid shot trait acctivated aliitle more with the bow than with the other ranged weapons. I personaly will never use a bow again untill i get a Ebow because I think all the new elemental arrows pwn in the right situation like lightning vs kirin.
 
I think Obow pwns all in XP parties.

As a 69 RNG:

Ebow using Bodkin Arrows I get about 97-115 per hit. I'd ws with sidewinder and get 750s to 850s using Demon Arrows, and Barrage for 350-450.

Obow using Holy Bolts for regular attacks, i'd get 77-105 not including the additional light damage averaging 30 per hit on all mobs including Catapolas, Gobs, Crawlers in Halvung, and Herald Imps and Junn in Caedire Mire. I also use acid bolts to lower defense of the mob on the pull so it helps the entire party. Darksteel bolts for slugshot ws ranging 615-720. Also lower delay than Ebow I get more rounds per fight (even if less TP per shot). Barrage is the same using Darksteel bolts. I really think Obow is the best even damage-wise.

I don't think Gun was that great to mention, but I'll borrow a hellfire +1 from Kimaara and see how it's like, though I gotta say that light damage from holy bolts is pretty sweet.

Also noteworthy: Holy bolts and Acid bolts = 5.5k-7k / stack. Much less costly and in my opinion, much more beneficial to your xp party.
 
another thing to remember is (mnd helps holy boly dmg) I equip suzas boots +15 mnd and I got like 20-40 more light dmg per bolt. But I macro back in my war boots when I WS. With the xtra holy dmg the total dmg was equal sometimes more than arrows and bullets.
 
also im most xp pts I only buy about 3-5 stacks of DS bolts at 30k apiece. and a full quiver of holy and acid bolts got 70k and 60k( I can also make them myself im just lazy sometimes). The only time I bring bloody bolts is when im subbing war other wise my shadows help enough. but thats still totaling 280k about the same price as a full stack silver bullet pouches, but it last me at least 3 times longer.
 
I have yet to experience the real "magic" of O.Bow

(....stupid wyrvenpoacher slips through my fingers every time I camp him)

so who knows, maybe I'll enjoy O.bow over selene's in the end...but personally, I adore Selenes
