Looking for a recording program out there that will not only record a video file of whats on screen atm (namely ffxi) as well as THE SOUND...

Ive tried a few different programs, two most notable being Fraps and CamStudio... But nothing seems to be able to record sound, no matter what settings I enable.

Do I seriously need a microphone just to record the game sound??

Fraps records the sound, but I think only for the registered version. From my experience with simple recording, it works great and is definently worth the price.

Alright, thanks a ton. When I had fraps I kinda.. uhh, did the not so good thing...

:rtfm:

But yeah, I may buy it if thats the case. Hate not having sound

Yeah, I can verify that FRAPS records audio. I use it all the time. Just make sure the "Record Sound" box is checked in the movies tab. Also, for input I use "What U Hear" which will record any and all audio sounds from the system.

Audacity is a free sound recording program. You could use that in conjunction with fraps and windows movie maker/adobe premier to put the sound and video back together.

Do you know a guy named Ecks? He's also a DRK...

my question is two fold

when using the unregistered, how can you put two 30sec clips together? i've seen enlenne do it before but not sure how you all put music in there(irl music) and such.

and whenever i use fraps to record video photobucket shows it as invalid or as if the data is corrupted. Can i not run fraps with ffxi windowed and another webpage showing?

Khidir, fraps just records the video, ppl who make videos use that to capture it, but use different video editing/cutting software to put it all together.

You could use Virtual Dub, which is free, to combine the clips AND compress em to something everything can play like DivX. Otherwise the vid uses FRAPS codec.

As for adding your own audio, I believe virtual dub lets you add in an auxillary wav. Otherwise you need video editing software.

Kind of off topic, but can you record with FFXI in fullscreen?

yeah

Your video (forgot where I saw) is what makes me ask this question, because you had your in-game sound playing. lol, do you have the registered fraps?

My first few videos were using a cracked version, but I recently went and paid for it because it didn't feel right using such a good program for free :P
But, I always record using windower.

I use this a lot and it's so much fun to make movies
