A reminder to wear your seatbelts

Glad to hear you and your kids are safe, Fellina.

If you can get enough money from the claim, your daughter might enjoy something like this:

We're in Virginia, and from my conversation with Allstate it seems to be the driver's insurance and not the vehicle owner's that we deal with. Allstate took my statement over the phone today, and is supposed to send the adjuster out to look at my car Monday. I felt a little flustered when they started asking me what damage happened to the car, and I'm like "uhh, it's smashed and won't drive". They were asking me for details like if it was leaking fluid. Fuck if I know, it was nighttime and I wasn't about to crawl through broken glass and get under my car to check for fluid leaks.

I've always been happy with the service from State Farm, which is why we've had insurance with them for over 10 years. Our current agent is a good guy too, actually works his ass off to help his customers. When we had a water line break in our apartment a few years back, he was there within 30 minutes of calling him to assess the damage and give us a check to cover hotel stay while the place got fixed up.

Oh and Skreb, I've already promised Sofia that she gets to pick the color of car if we end up buying a new one. Of course I only made that promise because I know pink isn't a stock option, lol.

Ooh yeah, Virginia is a state where the insurance follows the driver, not the car, so you may be in for a bit of a ride. Ill do some research on my company system to see if there is anything you can exploit. Either way, if you got us on it, we gonna nail that bish to the wall for the damages and then some.

glad to hear everything is well and good with you and your girls Fellina! About a year ago, a woman backed into my car while it was parked. She yelled and screamed at me about how she had to go and I was making her late and I shouldn't have parked there. She refused to give me any of her information, but I had her home address and telephone number. With those two pieces of info, I called my USAA agent and they hounded her ass till I got my bumper fixed :D

Well, 2 bits of good news today.

First, I went to my doc to have my finger checked out by him personally. I'd had to go to Patient First on Friday because he was overbooked and couldn't fit me in, plus he'd just have to send me out for x-rays anyway, while Patient First can do it on-premises. Long story short, Patient First had me looked at by a PA who'd been on the job for a whopping 2 weeks and told me some scare story about possibly needing a surgical reduction from an orthopedic hand specialist. My GP, upon examining things, basically told me she was smoking something, and the ligaments, while stretched, show no signs of rupture so I should be fine in 2 weeks. I do have to wear a splint until then though.

Second, upon returning home there was a message from the Allstate adjuster saying that they accepted liability for the accident. The adjuster wants me to get in touch with her to discuss their paying for a rental car while my car is out of commission. So hopefully that will get going once we stop playing phone tag with each other.

At this point, far as I know, the adjuster hasn't actually looked at my car yet. I have no idea if they're going to pay to fix it, or just write me a check for the car's value (which ain't much). On one hand I'd love to have my car back in running order, because it does what I need it to and is 100% paid for. On the other hand, new car. XD

Sounds awesome, seems you got off lucky with Allstate since they decided to step in and pay out. Be careful if they decide to total your car though, most (if not all) insurance companies go by ACV (actual cash value) minus depreciation and wear and tear. I know you dont expect much, but you would be surprised as to how little some companies will pay for a car.
