Hi guys :)

With the newly announced Campaign updates, this might very well be a moot point in a couple of weeks, but I had thought I'd like to share with you along with an appeal for help.

Somewhere around a month back, I heard a rumor circulating that killing regular Beastmen in campaign areas lowers Beastmen morale. Given that I heard this via an information route that shares much in common with the "telephone game" we all played in kindergarten, I think I either heard a greatly transformed version of the message or else the people who originally started spreading it used some terminology that was not entirely correct. After having joined Sandy's efforts to take back Vunkerl Inlet last night, I noticed something: after hours of unanswered success, Sandy's influence remained more or less stable, but the Orcs seemed to be losing little or no ground. Now, I suspect the larger reason for this was that for nearly two whole hours, not once did Sandy's NPCs mount an offensive on the inlet (thanks again, Preemptive Strike - focus on hitting areas of least Sandy influence . . .). That's when this idea hit me:

What if killing normal Orcs in an Orc-controlled area while wearing Sigil lowers their influence in that particular zone?

That makes sense to me on the surface, as it would mean that SE just made a slight revamp to the Conquest system and dropped it into place in the WotG zones.

In an effort to see if that's the case once and for all, I'd like to ask everyone with some free time this evening to join me in Vunkerl Inlet (or even East Ron, since it's easy to cover both Sandy and East Ron) and kill normal Orcs between Campaign battles and Transporter/Clan Bear dispatches.

I'd like to thank in advance any and all who would be willing to participate in this experiment.

I'm down, what jobs you got? PLD and WAR readily available here ^^

I'm either Bst or Blm :P

Small update here - some friends of mine and I killed for a couple of hours in East Ron, alternating between regular Orcs and Transporters. We didn't see any noticeable change to Orc influence, but once again, no attacks were staged in that area either . . .

We swapped off and started killing campaign orcs, but unfortunately started dropping off one by one as bedtimes rolled around. Gonna try again tonight though ^^

Oh! And one thing very important we found out Saturday night in Vunkerl Inlet - you don't lose xp killing campaign orcs between battles. That was one reason I'd been reluctant to take on campaign orcs, the potential xp loss if things went wrong. Knowing that SE cut us a break and did away with xp loss regardless of Allied Tags or not, maybe more people will join in the effort to forcing Beastmen retreats between battles.

How did you verify this? If this is true then that means nobody has any excuse not to kill them when they see them. Hit me up late nights (i get on around 10:30pm mst) and we can go kill some turtles.

Really? I thought you still lost xp cuz you didn't have tags on. That's good to know, now we have absolutely no reason to not kill these guys.

Something I just thought of as possible: wouldn't it make sense to say it works the other way around? Like if we kill them, they're influence lowers, but if we die to them, it increases; similar to Conquest.

Let me put it this way. Saturday night during the push to take Vunkerl Inlet, we got a sizable link which eventually made the rounds and wiped a few of us out. There was a JP Whm not far from me and I got a friend of mine to ask em for an R3, and they seemed . . . hesitant, confused, even. Well, I was not a little put out by what appeared to be their reluctance to extend a courtesy I'd have had no qualms about bestowing had the circumstances been reversed.

I finally said screw it and had my Drk friend Tractor me into the wander pattern of a Pixie I'd seen. In due time, the Pixie R3'd me and within a minute or so, I noticed that I was still at capped xp. I'm reasonably sure we hadn't killed anything to gain me xp, so I'm assuming that that's why the Whm seemed confused by our request.

If you'll give me a few minutes, I'll purposefully die to a campaign mob and find out. :P

EDIT: Just double-checked - you do lose xp. Editing my original post so no one reads it and heads out for a nasty surprise. Sorry about that, guys ><

Hmm...that sucks. It'd be nice to not lose xp if you died. Still, we can kill those bastards between battles to help lower their influence in a region.

Wow... I didn't know that. So, whats people excuse now?
