Note: Many will probably have no idea what is going on in the story, due to the fact my backstory isn't posted here, but I'll clue you in on a few things. Due to a ritual performed on Lecan's mother while he was in the womb, Lecan has draconic blood mixed with his elvaan blood, that makes him prone to random acts of violence. It makes him very aggressive most of the time, as well as arrogant. When he is angry the blood 'Takes Over' and he becomes sort of evil, and he struggles with this constantly. When the blood does take over his eyes glow a dull greenish color, and this is his alter ego, nicknamed 'Dragon'. The blood also gives him a rather quick rate of regeneration, strength beyond what would normally be capable for someone his lvl (as I use lvl as a basis for ability in RP) and extra speed. Not god like by any means, but it makes him very difficult to kill. The other characters in the story are the people I roleplay with on a regular basis, with the exception of Gilgamesh. Anyway, on with the story.
It had been weeks since Lecan had last seen them. Brin, Sadakou, Mai, Hayato; they all seemed a faint memory to him now.
His eyes shown bright, even in his poorly lit room in the rogue city of Norg. He had already grown familiar to his surroundings, and made friends with the few who resided there. Outside his small living quarters, many went about their daily business; buying groceries at the auction house, Samurais training with their swords, and Ninjas practicing their shadow arts, all seemed normal. All was not, in fact, normal.
For weeks Lecan had trained, long and hard. Gilgamesh, seeing his failure in the last treatment, had come to a simple conclusion, a truth one might say. Lecan's blood was, is, and always would be, incurable. However, learning to deal with that blood was the key to unlocking Lecan's true power, and thus this little escapade began.
Lecan arrived in Norg, bloody and bruised. The Sahgin were out in force that day, and though they lay slain on Norg's doorstep they had taken their toll on Lecan. Blood dripped from his mouth, and ears. Upon entering the city the townspeople were frightened, and rightly so; they knew who he was, and what he was capable of. Lecan's outbursts had become commonplace from his last visit, and they were happy to have seen him gone, and yet he returned. Women and children hid away behind boxes and dark corners, even the Ninja and Samurai cringed at the sight of those glowing green eyes. Dragon had returned to Norg, luckily for them, he was weak, and easily restrained by the stronger of the warriors that lurked in this small town.
"Gilgamesh, your student has returned......"
The Ninja's dropped Dragon at Gilgamesh' feet, his blood dampening the floor of his chambers, then solemnly walked away.
"I see you have returned Lecan.......and in no better condition than you had arrived before. You really ought to stay out of trouble." Gilgamesh grinned, picking Lecan up and slinging him over the shoulder, he laid him down on a small cot and tended to his wounds.
"Your blood is a curse Lecan...don't ever doubt that, you may think it is your power, but your power lies in your compassion for others, whether or not you would like to admit it."
Lecan stirred in his sleep, a groan erupted from his throat.
Swiftly Gilgamesh delivered a blow to Lecan's forehead, hard enough to knock him out, but not enough to cause him permanent damage. "You must rest now.." He said quietly, "I can't have you fighting me as I tend to you.."
The light shone faintly on Lecan's pale skin, he was still weak from his injuries. Gilgamesh had been watching him for some time now, and was amazed at his progress. In a matter of a week Lecan's injuries were almost completely healed, at least the external injuries. Lecan was still weak having been pierced so many times by the Sahgin weaponry. However, still he was alive, and that much was a miracle in and of itself.
Lecan dreamed constantly, of all different things; his blood, his friends, and especially her. She perplexed him, she was the only one who didn't seem to fear him on any level. When everyone else shunned him, she engaged him. He knew she was weak, and yet he feared her, even more than he feared Brin. Dragon had always counted on fear as his foremost weapon, shattering the lives of all his adverseries with a flicker of his eye.....but no, she was different, and it scared him.
In the pale light of Norg he meditated, night after night. During the day Lecan trained his body, learning the basics of martial arts. Slowly his blood was calmed, through the meditation and dicipline, he learned to control his blood. Lecan and Dragon were no longer seperate entities, but now one.....an entirely new force. At will he can call upon his draconic blood, and raze the forces of darkness into nonexistence.
"I am ready. . ." Lecan said somberly, "I am ready to leave this place."
Gilgamesh turned to Lecan, a gleam in his eye, a smile on his face. His armor shined brilliantly even in the shallow light. This comforted Lecan greatly, knowing and feeling as if he was finally able to do what fate wanted, what was needed to be done. Brin had told him he would be a considerable force in the fight against the Shadow Lord, and now Lecan was ready.
This was only the start however. Despite his readiness to undertake the task of defeating the Shadow Lord, he would need to become something entirely different than what he was, this was sure.
"That may be so, but that lance isn't a weapon that suits you. Here, take this" Gilgamesh tossed a sword skillfully across the room to Lecan. With a slight movment of his rist and a twist of his hips, he caught it in midair.
The sword itself was very ornate, not like anything he had used when he had referred to himself as "the bloodmage." Lecan's name was engraved in the sword, and there was a small symbol engraved in the hilt that resembled a triangle.
Lecan smiled gently, "This is too kind of you master Gilgamesh. . ." Lecan was able to use the sword with ease, and he was suprised. Even greater than his skill with the lance was his skill with the sword.
"Go. . .There is a man in San D'oria I have arranged for you to meet. He will prepare you for what lies ahead. Leave this place and never return."
Lecan turned on his heel and left, bowing to all the townspeople that had showed him kindness on his way to the town's gate. A chocobo and supplies awaited him for his long journey back to the 'civilized' world, and they all wished him well.
