Figure I'd better ask here. Every now and then, my PC will randomly play sound files of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion like the doors opening and closing out of the game. I've done a virus scan just in case and there wasn't anything wrong, so does anyone know what causes these kinds of glitches?

I know it's odd but I really would appreciate the help as this sound glitching is driving me crazy.

Did someone change your system sounds to the sounds of that game?

That's what I was thinking. My friend likes to mess with my computer, so I idiot proofed my computer. He would put fake viruses etc.

The most probable solution is what Ladykiki mentioned. If not that, I would uninstall the game, the re-install.

lol that's a classic prank. just like aliasing the trash can on a Mac, or anything of the like.

My favorite was to set the "Windows Start" sound to the THX theme, turn the sound way up on the volume settings, and turn the computer off.

That, or in a lab, cross video cables of two side-by-side machines.

Dude, you must tell me. How do I make it so my start up is the THX theme?! I MUST KNOWWW!

***EDIT***

Huzzah, got it.

uh, download the THX theme from anywhere online (.wav format), open Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices -> Sounds -> Program Events -> Windows -> Start Windows, Browse... -> select your tune, apply, apply, apply, exit.

Restart and enjoy

TG beat me to it :glare:

I did it enough, I could have beaten you typing that out in my sleep.

No, no-one has even touched my system, ever. And the settings are at the default. The sound glitches happens at extremely random times.

Re-install the game, and install it to a different location then it was last time. To edit the sound paths to the audio can't be played.

Ok, I'll give it a shot, I'll let you guys know if it worked asap.
