A whm's true job...

I often wondered sometimes how a melee would feel if I randomly sent him a /tell to come provoke something out of my way. It would possibly be a humourous day. However, oddly enough, you're not the only white mage to have to make this rant and saddly not the last. Generally, when able, I help out many people regardless if it is someone I know or not. It is the type of tell that you described that discourages such. The tells where people phrase their requests into demands is rude.

I promise I'm going to go back and read the rest of this post - but I can't miss the opportunity for laughing at the novel concept of asking a PLD to come and voke something for me.

But sadly the rest of Sandria's post is also true... many whm have undeservingly been flamed for not dropping everything they were doing to come and 'assist' however which way the population of Vanadiel requires - as I have unfortunately recently experienced with a friend.

I've never been one to rely on the whole '/anon' thing - but it is starting to look very appealing about now.

yay someone revived my post! ^^;; lol >.> and lately, i havent been getting that many raise or tele' requests, and the ones i have gotten have been pretty decent *rolls eyes* with the exception of a few rude people every few days... lol, but i guess you cant escape that, because as long as there are actual pplz playing this game, theres goin to be all kinds of pplz, nice ones and rude ones ¬.¬ just have'ta deal with it

Damn, it's been awhile since I've played but 2k for vzhal, and 1k for the rest? I was doing 500-1k and I thought that was alot for a tele and I was doing them. Personally though I don't really see the point of buying the higher rez spells now that the exp needed for levels past 50 is far less than it used to be. Now I'm only 51-52 but I'm not going to pay an assload of money just so someone else takes less of a hit to their exp, and I figure I made it to 50 without erase so what's a raise scroll going to stop me from getting. If I get it on a drop though then I have no problem with it.

Ok, you're coming off as the kind of whm that everyone hates. Basically screw everyone else, because you just don't feel like getting something that you're expected to have. Raise 3 is dirt cheap, there's no excuse to not have it. Maybe the pld shouldn't voke a mob off you because they don't feel like it? Don't drag whm's reputation through the mud because you don't care enough to do your job right.

I know raise III is dirt cheap but what is that 72 or something? I'll have that one, but melees are the ones selling the raise II scrolls for so much. So why should I pay so much damn money for a scroll when it drops in where Kuftal? I think? I still have 4 leves before I can even get that spell, but I won't pay for it.

Then go camp it, but don't act like you're just not going to get it because it's expensive.

What baj said...

Btw expect alot of people to be pissed with you if you dont have it after you reach 56.

I don't think 5 6 mins hurt that much but u know its FFXI so its all good.Anyways if my blm reach 42 (might be soon) i'd be welcome to d2 you for free (You walk to me). Also if my whm reach 40 and my HP is in jueuno then i won't mind tele-ing 1 to 5 people.Raise.. depends where and when..

My Suggestin to the population of quetz: Get outpost warps. In the long run it may even end up being cheaper than a WHM? And get you closer?

Agreed.

It would help if Bastok would control Qufim ... ever ... so that there would be a teleport NPC next to Delkfutts tower, but noooooooooo. always gotta be sandy. (I haven't been on since the points were tallied this week, so I don't know who controls it).
Outposts are great, you can keep your hp in your hometown, and get a quick warp to any place you need to be for 200-2k gil. It also makes it easier to pile up furniture and make use of storage.

And yes, for the love of god, can bastok take over qufim already?

ps - raise 2 doesn't drop in kuftal, I don't think. Pretty sure it only drops off the NM yagudo in castle oz by G3, and the NM sahagin in SSG past the ornamented door.

I've always wondered that if using the translator (not saying that you do or not, but most people do for the sake of convience) is the reason that some people get so anal about getting shot down for a teleport... To me, it always seemed a bit impersonal to me, so perhaps to some it sounds like you're just blowing them off instead of declining their hard earned gil.

Anywho, may want to try getting into an arguement _back_ at them. If you can logically argue their point down (and them being smart enough to understand), it is through my experience that they'll back off or appologize for being rude. If you're worried about them making shouts in some town to the tune of, "So-an-so is a bad whm because they [insert reason here]," you really shouldn't be. I don't think the vast majority of people even pay attention to those... If that were the case, I doubt I'd be 70.

As a side note: I'm not even sure you've met stupidity until you've been asked to party while being the party leader.

Just do what you feel most comfortable with... If you just want to ignore them, go for it. If not, try bearing your fangs and moving on. Life won't stop for anyone since a single WHM doesn't do something.

Note: Raise III is 70.

Yesterday in Ro'Maeve I got asked to Raise III....which I wouldn't have minded in 9/10 circumstances, except..
This guy was in Cloister of Storms..

Sometimes /anon just isn't enough. ><
All you need is to be wearing AF and everyone thinks you can do anything.

I was PLing a level 12 party in the Dunes because they had no healer and really needed the PL to keep going. Just south of us, a party of four with no PL had 3 dead people (big surprise) so I went over and Raise2'd them all for free.

Meanwhile, my party took aggro from a pop gob and they tried to kill it (and did) but one person died. Raised him. Reminder to me: Dangerous to six lower levels to be away very long. There's always one n00b! XD

The next door party had one more death before they decided to disband. After that last Raise, one guy /tells me saying he needs a teleport and when I said I couldn't he was all "Why?" I said, "I'm PLing this party with no healer." He's like "It's just a teleport to Dem!" and I'm like, "I'm busy, I can't, it'll take at least 15 minutes" but he kept demanding a teleport from me, now saying "I was going to PAY you" (ya right) and I'm like, "Do I know you?!" etc, and this went on for at least 10 tells back and forth. Him trying to corner me with guilt, and me not buyin it for a second.

And you WHMs know I was very busy tabbing through the many DD in the party. I was so annoyed by this i almost kicked my own dog. Turned a lovely activity into WORK. lol Anyhoo:

If you don't have time to form a complete party
If you don't have time to walk to the nearest city
If you don't have time to wait patiently for the kindness of strangers to appear
Then how on earth do you have time to badger me!?

It seems to work well if you just say "No." If they reply with an excuse as to why you need to help them or if they call you names, just tell them "No." You don't have to argue with people or put up with their crap. Just say no, and that is that. Who cares if they call you noob or blacklist you? They're most likely never ever going to help you in any way in the game, so it's no loss for you. It's just one less white mage that the other person/people can get a port or raise from.

Don't bitch about being a white mage. Just tell them how it is and to fuck off, and maybe black list them first. Sure, it's great to help them if they're dead and you're just passing by on foot, but if you don't want to do it, just don't do it. They aren't going to remember you as the white mage that didn't raise them. They'll forget who you are in a day.

Why do so many WHM complain about this?

Drop it, anyone who will sympathize with you has probably read this exact same complaint well over 50 times. I personally just think it must be a phase WHM go through where they feel they suddenly need to complain about how other people treat them.

We all know. We have all heard this complaint and sympathize with your plight. Now shut up, learn to say no, and quit bitching about this. If you think this is new, check Alakazam.com and look in the WHM forum.

Quit your bitching, as 1 of the 3 main support jobs in the game, you need to get used to being used, and learn to just turn people down when you don't have time.

While i agree that this subject has been beaten to death i think you will find that the problem is that when we do say no they bitch and whine. not that we refuse to say no.

Also while we may be 1/3 support justs we are also 1/1 jobs with raise II and III, tele altep, yhoat and vhalz. And it is also alot more common to ask a WHM for the 3 lower tele's than someone with lvl 36 whm subjob. So the whole "you are 1/3 support jobs" which implies that the other support jobs get just as much harrassment for raise I or 1 of the 3 lvl 36 teles, really doesn't work.

Anyway my advice is to just look at how amusing it is that they seem to think that you are your slave and how annoyed they get because you will not act like it.

Anyway...yeah dead horse but there is a reason it keeps being brought up...

<I'm sorry, I'm busy now>

It takes 1 second to reply with that and anyone who's asked me for something that I can't do at the moment will tell you that I'm pretty good at getting that back to them. Of course if I'm stolling by on foot I'll stop and help no problem.

Thank you Akisu. I couldn't have said it better myself. A couple weeks ago, a BST /blisted me because I was too busy to raise his friends in Boy. Tree. He called me several choice words and a "noob", but what really cooked me is he had WHM subbed. He could have done it himself, but chose to flame my ass for trying to accomplish things in game.

the fact is u bastard almost walked over the dead body of my duo partner and a short R2 or 3 whould hurt you..... damn u were away like 3 seconds then u said sorry i dont want to run back all the way for a raise........ not like u were 10 min walk away
btw R1 at lvl 70 HURTS its better to HP with moghencement xp....

well a week later i saw u afk and resting in altep :P i hope my zoned scorp killed you mwhahahaha

I hope so too! How dare he refuse to raise someone! If i didn't know better i would think that it was OPTIONAL to raise someones fallen comrade.

Btw Reraise hairpins work wonders.

Obviously. If you read SE's ToS it says you must raise upon contact with any dead individual.

Sarcasm btw.
