About chocobo colors

Anyone figured out how you get the different colors?

I'm thinking food affects it, so I'm rather curious, what did you feed your chocobo?

Reason for me asking, is 'cause of the Parasite Worm. The chocoboy says "The most curious of all the worms is the Parasite Worm. At first it may not seem to have any effect, but looks are decieving...", which makes it sound like it may affect the color of the chocobo.

Anyone tried a Parasite Worm and know exactly what it does?
 
I gave mine a parasite worm; it remained yellow. however, i think it affects affection somehow, other then that, i dont know what it does.
 
Well, here's what I did for my black Chocobo, maybe someone can figure it out.

Egg: Bought it from the NPC in Ru'Lude Gardens, the most expensive one he had.

Raised it in Bastok Stables, started on Sunday at 12:30am EST roughly going into Monday morning

All I ever feed it was either Gyshal Greens or Gausebit Grass when it got sick.

Everyday I took it for walks, then fed it twice for the day, my plan was always basic care except for once, when it was sick I set it to rest for one day. I would watch over it maybe once every 5 days.

In all the walks it had in childhood, it only met the Chocobo Blood being raised by the Galka.

By the time it became a teen it had the black tips, so I doubt anything you do then could change it.

My chocobo has a normal tempermant, and can get along easily with anyone.

That's it, thats all I could remember from it's childhood, I honestly think it just random, and only through breeding you'll be able to get the color you want 100%.
 
The only food i ever fed my chocobo was Carrot Paste (for when it was a chick) and Vomp Carrots normally.I fed it Tokopeko Wildgrass for when it was sick. It turned out yellow.
 
I have a feeling that the colour of the chocobo may just be random, since people have different ways and some of the same result in different colours still.
 
The first generation has to be completely random as it has been stated in other posts that SE said the color of future offspring is going to be SOLELY dependant upon the color of the father. Just a thought as I am too lazy to link directly to those posts.
 
I just fed mine gyshal greens when until it hurt its leg (which was the day before it became an adult) and mine turned out Blue. Bought egg in Jeuno although I don't remember which type, and raised in Sandy.

Where did they state this?

I haven't seen any post on POL stating this. The only thing I've seen are other people saying it, with no quote from SE, which leads me to believe its just another false rumour.
 
I heard that the Chocoguy somewhere says it. >.>
 
Just would like to add: I handed in my egg (a bit warm from upper jeuno shop) and then didn't login for the entire month of its life. It was on Basic Care and I didn't log in to feed it, I got a female blue chocobo and it didn't run away despite me having not been on all that time. It was neither hungry nor full and my bond was it liking to be around me all the time. >.> Not only is that extremely weird, but it seems as if the color of chocobo truly is completely random regardless of diet and care.

Because on my other account I bought the same egg and instead of completely neglecting it I fed it and took care of it very well. It came out yellow and ill-tempered, regarding me as a parent. Just thought I'd share. :)

Perhaps color could be based on how much you watch over the choco or care for it. People with black choco, how often did you watch over your chocobo?

Just mated my black female, with a purple/blue male... hopefully something nice comes of it :)

Sooo..... mating a yellow + yellow will equal a yellow, am I right? coz thats lolboring! And especially if babies color depends only on the father, thats sad for all the male-chocobo owners *cough cough*

The only thing that makes me happy bout my retarded bird is that it is substandard in strength and endurance.... lolyay

EDIT: I "lolstuff" too often
