About preparing for events...

All right, this isn't a direct flame, since I'm not pointing out to anyone (although i hope the people who made me write this flame will recognize themselves), but I'm pretty tired about this shit always happening, so I'll post for it.

And you know me...long posts :( Sorry lol

A few weeks ago, when I was still doing Dynamis (had to stop cause of university), we wiped...shit happens! Rule in the LS is that if there is a wipe, you take WHATEVER raise you will be given, it's a question of raising people in the shortest ammount of time possible. So I went in Dynamis with about only 2k XP in my level. I really wanted to hit that lvl before Dynamis, and stayed up dead late the day before just to reach it, but couldn't stay up for a real buffer.

Now as you should know, 2k XP isn't much of a buffer for a BLM going into dynamis. Si I told myself well I'll buy a RR Hairping (90k) so I'm sure to have AT LEAST R2 everytime.

Now here is what this ''flame'' is about... As I spent almost 100k (which atm is hurting my ''fortune'' real bad (Cursed mitts + Igqira Weskit = ouch!!!)) to make sure I would not de-level, some other people who for some reason think they are privileged won't accept nothing but a R3. So basically we're wiping (which already shouldn't happen..but it still did) so losing a great deal of time (which is the main concern in dynamis) and these people just make us lose time cause they won't take a R1 or even a R2. Who the hell do these people think they are?? I mean 58 people died. Left assume only 1/2 the people get R1, which is false since the BLMs and RDMs are raised first, and give only R1s, so most of the LS gets R1. So that means 29 people accept R1, and for some reason out of these 29 people, 2-3 people should not accept it! Wtf do you think you are!

I mean, maybe it's just me, but you know damn well you have dynamis at a given day and date, and you have a week to prepare for it. 7 freaking days to plan ahead your things so you don't delevel in dynamis. Anyone who did dynamis even only once knows you lose a great deal of XP in it. If you don't wanna de-level, well don't get the damn level before going to dynamis, or do as I do, and buy yourself a RR item.

And this doesn't only apply to dynamis. How often have I went on a mission or a quest or a BC...anything...and where someone told me ''I'm only 1k into my level, i can die once, but i won't go in for a second try because i don't want to delevel''. Now that only applies to runs that are scheduled. If you've been told about the BC the day before, then i can understand. But these things happen way too often on events that are planned 4-5 days in advance.

So basically, PLEASE!!, if you knew you had an event coming where you might die once or several times, and didn't take the responsability of getting a proper buffer or RR items, then just stfu and delevel. Everyone else makes an effort to get ready and have a buffer, why the hell would you be privileged???

Anyways...it's my opinion :P Maybe I'm wrong, but in my opinion it's just common sense...
 
No kidding. It's one thing when a few people die from a hectic pull, then it's fine to give them all R3s, but when there is a wipe coming and you want the win/AFs, it's time to bite the bullet.
 
Well as a DD w/o a static of any type, getting exp can be kinda tough. I've gone over a week at times before getting another exp PT.
But I do agree with your opinion. Stuff like Dynamis, missions or even quests you should take what you are given with Raises. I died once before doing a CN escort while trying to control a train someone made, and just accepted the only raise I could get (from our PLD that was there) so we could do the escort when everyone was ready.
And I can see why it would be best to just give out RIs in Dynamis, since there is a time limit, RI uses less MP and more ppl would have access to the spell than R2 or R3.
 
While I'm here, I might as well add this. If you fucking complain about PA or anyone else yelling orders, it's because people aren't listening and have been told numerous times. Just listen the first time and there won't be any yelling!

I must agree this has happened to me WAY too many times. People complaining even in a manaburn "I refuse to stay unless I get R3!" I mean COME ON! Expecially in manaburn where you get fast exp if done right, take an R1 and keep going! And in Dynamis? WTF? You should prepare a possible 20 deaths just to be safe ;) People just feel they are "more worthy" then others. To them I say the lovely term:

In PinCKs, ok I'll toot our horn.. Toot toot!

we try to avoid wipe downtime by:

1)planning pulls carefully so we avoid wipes all together (but yeah sometimes it doesn't work out that way) :wink:

and


2) As part of the leadership team, we HIGHLY stress that everyone in our LS purchase a Reraise Gorget or Hairpin and if the situation is risky.. time for reraise. This cuts down recovery time significantly as well as bypasses a lot of the drama that accompanies raises.
 
Here's what you should say:

"Dynamis is for the big [boys/girls]. Take your daipers and bottle and go back to mommy or take the R1."

Yah gotta figure ladies and gentlemen, a good share of people who play this game are teens and preteens even. A few of them are actually pretty cool to be around, but I'd say more often than nought they show their age and immaturity shines through in times of stress.

And it's okay, because they are kids. :wink: Most teens really do think they are the center of the universe, and deserve that R3 because they worked so hard to get to where they are, reguardless of anybody else. Why do you think there are so few Emo 30 year olds? Hmmm? (If any, but there are a lot of people in this world...)


Anyways, you gotta take some of that into consideration. Does it mean you can't tell them to bite the bullet of get outta the fire? Naw, it's a lesson well taught I think. But don't take it personally when a player refuses anything but an R3. It's not that they think they are better than you. It's because outside of themselves, nothing else exists.


My roomate just informed me that there are indeed 30 year+ old Emos...

Lmao, nice end there Excim. I must agree with the post, that those who whine about their Raise priority really are out of place.. There are only 3 or 4 jobs that are going to take priority in getting that RIII, and those are the BLM/BRD, tanks, and pullers.

Note that, Raise has a long recast time...So people WILL get RIII during wipes. Why? Because the chain of raising is faster that way. Most people in Dynamis will die once or twice, and that's it. The RIII is going to go to the suicide puller, or the main tank, or the BLM or BRD...Not the melee who happened to die that one time because of a wipe. The rest of the RIII's that happen to go out during a wipe are most likely the WHM's random pick to Raise when that spell timer was up.

All in all, shit happens, and you just have to react best you can. If the wipe happens, oh well. Make it painless as possible because chances are that wipe is not going to happen again next time.

anyway people whin about lossing 2k exp which could be made in like 30 even in a soso group. though something should be add to this for though who have yet gotten to dynamis or though who just can read chat window learn this command

It not that hard and well save you shell alot of greif. It has to be type the auro target in the config window is for something else.
