Eh, FFXI has 3 things I dislike about it, otherwise FFXI is still a really good game.
1. Lacks ability to freely explore. In WoW, you can go up mountains, jump, swim; Grants the ability to freely explore the two continents.
2. PvP in FFXI is distasteful to me. It's fun and all, but if you run away, more than likely you can run away successfully. Thus: Running from fights = Winning ballista. That's not how I like to win in a PVP. In WoW, you run, more than likely you'll be killed. Also, FFXI, pretty much anything with Bind, Sleep, or Stun > All others. WoW's PvP is pretty balanced out, has some imbalance, but not that critical. I can still rip through people 3+ levels higher than me.
Plus, FFXI's PvP is awkward. All 3 nations are against each other, but also with each other. WoW's PvP is one whole faction fighting another. It's an actual War. Makes more sense in WoW.
3. The sneaky class is actually sneaky. FFXI, Ninja is a tank, upfront in your face. No stealth involved really. WoW, Rogue(similar to a ninja in many ways) is stealthy.
However, there are a few things I dislike about WoW, which FFXI is superior at.
1. WoW's communication ability. It's pretty difficult to get ahold of someone. Or if you make a new character, you have to retype in ALL your friends. FFXI is better at communication, and you can contact someone easily.
2. Meeting new people. In WoW, really the only times you meet people is in Battlegrounds, or for instances. FFXI, you have to be in a group to do ANYTHING. So you meet more people. However, WoW is getting better at meeting new people lately.
3. Music. FFXI has great music. Though, a lot of zones need music added in, still very good music. I love walking into Selbina, or into Gustaberg. WoW has only a few good BGM, but it's still not as great as FFXI. Also, FFXI is more visually appealing when it comes to character models. More smooth. But WoW has more character customization to choose from. It's sorta even.
Both WoW and FFXI are great games, but have different aspects.
WoW only gets boring fast to those who power drive their leveling to 60. I like to "stop and smell the roses" I guess.
