Absolution = Vanquished? O.o

Couple things you're confused about. We didn't pay for NASA, there really was no pricetag for us. We got an advantage without having to pay out a single penny, not a bad deal in our eyes. I don't know what Whizbot is, but I'll gather it's someone else's version of FFXIApp.

NASA did not remove then need to have campers for long windows, NASA didn't notify the LS of a pop at all, tbh, NASA was the simplist software ever, it was designed to do one thing and one thing only, claim a mob. There was no notify LS options or any flee hacks attached with NASA at all.

If you're actually trying to say that the base of our shell isn't dedicated or skilled that's a joke in itself, if you actually think there's a shit tonne of people who only show up then afk botting you're sadly mistaken. The reason we do so well and continue to do so well is because of the dedication from the core members. You can have the best bot in the world, but if you don't have the people dedicated to stand behind it it's not going to do you much good at all.

Guess what I found out, you're right there was no "real" price tag, but there was a 50 million gil payment made towards your program. Which is not real big deal considering the program is designed to help you claim hence making gil and that 50 million was basically a drop in the bucket for you. So from an actually money to gil ratio you pretty much made out like a bandit.

I will however back you a little bit on the idea that you are "skilled" and it does take some dedication to do what you do because 6am Tiamats and Khimiara's are not really on the non dedicated side of HNM's unless you have 1/2 a NA group and 1/2 a EU group or some other lines of work in life that give you the ability to play night and day like being unemployed. Yes it does take a serious commitment but you yourself admitting you won't play fair well hey that's your thing. The game is almost well over so you know at this stage SE isn't going to do anything to aid the playing field. Well... they did the banhammer for salvage dupes and that was mildly entertaining, but to go out looking for every bot on every server is just too much work. I'm sure you're aware of it. You know what's really funny if people really wanted to get rid of you guys all they would have to is print screen these little chats and forward them and your name to Special Task Force. I doubt anyone would go that far.

Sorry but I don't think SE would take print screens of chats like this into consideration at all. You couldn't prove who it is behind a forum name. And I never admitted I wouldn't play fair, I simply stated I would plaiy fair on a fair playing field, which isn't something you're going to see. You're probably right that SE won't do too much now about bots, but to think SE could have done something about bots before I even started playing this game, before I was ever introduced to end-game.

M.H, I never really expected you to understand what I wrote, so your response is no surprise to me.

See you talk about playing fair if there was a fair playing field right? Thing is, from the beginning there the playing field was fair. It was people without a care for others that gave rise to this bullshit. The reason bot programs exist is because there was a consumer there to buy the product. Now what was the excuse used back then? "It's SE's fault for making this game so hard" is what I would constantly hear from the early botters. I'm not tryin to get anyone to change their ways, but at least admit you and your shell (along with any other botting shells) cheat. Don't try to play it off any other way, dont beat around the bush. Admit you do it, admit its wrong, and leave it at that. Whether or not you stop now has no bearing on the game, FFXIV will be out in a matter of months, and all that effort, gil, and time spent camping these HNMs will be for naught.

Me? I'm just riding the game out enjoying my time with friends doing what EG events I can until its time to uninstall the game and make way for FFXIV.

oh come on that 'dedicated players behind the botter' line was hilarious and you know it

Spellcast is by and far more advantageous then botting is.

Just sayin'

Being able to see recast timers is useful, but I've got a handy macro that says /recast THING that I more or less spam on anything I use that requires me to have timers ready to go as soon as they hit 00:00.

We already addressed how some of the plug-ins are way obnoxious in their output; The game wasn't designed for you to see the exact point in a mob's health, hence them readying abilities at specific HP counts. Odin and Bahamut both come to mind, though the latter doesn't matter much since he's routinely zerged.

If there's one thing to say about the lack of a level playing field, take a look at the shells you listed as the main HNM shells: Abso and Aura. Besides starting with an A, what do these shells have in common? If I'm remembering correctly, aren't they both transfer shells? If that's the case, did two transfer shells come to an underpopulated HNM server and then claim that competition drove them to botting? Its a chicken/egg argument: Since there are only two "real" HNM shells, and they both bot, but they both came here, then shouldn't the playing ground have been fair from the get-go?

Cheaters cheat. They'll find ways to, they'll find reasons to justify it.

You obviously don't understand what Spellcast is. It's certainly not Recast.

Being friendly enough with fuzz, or taking him into your LS, makes you pretty trashy. Fuzz created NASA to create his own little arms race with App. Someone would be desperate enough on each server to buy NASA for $3k and would goad the competition to pay the $20 for app. So you were willing to take someone in who's sole agenda was to facilitate and make money off people's destructive tendencies. And it's not like fuzz has feeding kids to starve, he just saw an opportunity and be damned if it fucked over the game.

I will admit that at least you're not as desperate since you didn't have to fork over 3k, but still as morally repugnant.

NASA did not remove then need to have campers for long windows, NASA didn't notify the LS of a pop at all, tbh, NASA was the simplist software ever, it was designed to do one thing and one thing only, claim a mob. There was no notify LS options or any flee hacks attached with NASA at all.

Highly doubt it but unfortunately I don't know anyone who paid the $3k to confirm this.

But I know what FFXIapp was capable of. In addition to normal claiming it was also able to fishbot, craftbot, poshack, flee tool, powerlevel, and automate commands (such as stun). Considering fuzz overcharged the fuck out of NASA I'm pretty sure it came with all the capabilities App did. I'm sure his best customers also had no qualm about using App and would have been upset if it didn't even feature all of the same perks.

You took in Snowfox, quite possibly the worst tank I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. For how fail Dezvolatre became, your standards were low enough to take in our scraps. That's pretty terribad.

But I will say what I used to say to Dez itself. Botting is a different matter from skill or "dedication". And by Quetz standards, you were one of the better shells in that department.

But your success is relative to Quetz standards. As I've already pointed out, you have quite your share of fail on an absolute scale.

It's the same for any NASA takeover shell. The strategy is to come in, bot some claims, recruit the desperate of the server in order to get more toons for NASA delay coverage and slowly take over. I've seen the same scenario play out in three different servers. And the reason it worked here is because Quetz was a shithole.

If the "end game" shells of this server had any sort of will or drive they could have competed with you and rolled you over (minus Aura who just came in when I left). But instead Perse and Integ had pretty much disappeared from the competitive scene by the time you were around. That left you two JP shells to compete with... and Dez... who eventually decided "I just want to have fun until FFXIV!"

Yeah, stiff competition there chump.

For people who don't know what Spellcast is, it is basically the best part of windower. It changes your gear automatically depending on the action you're taking and is very useful for things such as Ugg Pendant and Obi's because it automatically switches them in when they apply. So basically it removes the hassle of having to use gear switch macros.

You do realize that almost every single shell that pays in USD instead of gil for NASA simply sells the gil they make from it back, and ends up getting it for free, right?

It did not come with all the scripting tools that app did. As a former Absolution member who used it daily, I can tell you this with absolute certainty.

No they couldn't have, because App, generally speaking, doesn't compare with NASA. NASA will outclaim it consistently to the point where most other shells just give up, then the NASA shell has free reign of kings on the server.

Botting is not relative to skill or dedication in any way, shape, or form. But that does not automatically mean every single person who uses one is completely devoid of skill or dedication. I've found plenty MORE members like myself in shells who bot who are willing to stay up till 4AM, or post their phone number and be called at some ungodly hour of the morning to kill an HNM. The best players I've ever met have also resided in shells that condone botting either explicitly or under the radar. The competitive endgame scene simply attracts more dedicated and skilled players then any other aspect of the game, whether or not botting is present is irrelevant. Those that get competitive use them, and that's pretty much the end of it.

Are you serious? People have gotten that lazy? I had a hell of a lot of gear swap casting macros.

Well said Tanth.

To add to that, regarding Snowfox. When it came to recruiting members from Quetz it was a trial and error scenario. We couldn't take your word, because quite frankly the word this community gave us about a number of our members turned out to be completely bullshit. You warned us about Medicineman, he turned out to be a pretty decent member, you warned us about Hellstorm, he's now a sack holder in our shell, he turned out to be one of the most dedicated people into end-game we've come across on this server. We couldn't take the word of people who didn't want us to succeed is the bottom line. So yeah, we've had a lot of shitty players in our LS who were Quetz natives, we gave them a shot and some didn't work out, but some did.

Mirewen, Spellcast is so much beyond that, it all depends how much time you take to wrtie your own spellcast file. You can write spellcast so it automatically determines which gear set to use on which mob (ex. For BLM it will equip a full elemental set for fighting Tiamat if you chose it to, but if you use Elemental Seal it can detect that and switch to full damage set.) It allows you to get full benefit of gear, you can make it so you start casting in all your fast cast gear to get the full benefit of fast cast, but by the time the spell goes off it will have a completely different set of gear so you get the full advantages of that gear as well. Spellcast is gamebreaking to say the least.

Are you serious? People have gotten that lazy? I had a hell of a lot of gear swap casting macros.

It does more than a human can do. You can't predict every single time that your mp is going to drop below 50% in a fight and switch in Ugg pendant. It also switches back to say your Idle set after the cast. Once you use it properly you won't want to stop using it.

I had a macro for idling and it's easy to know when you're giong to go below 50%, you can see your mp and you know how much each spell costs. Just seems incredibly dumbed down and lazy to me.

Well its also what Nogara said it takes into account what enemies you are fighting and their resistance to magic and such and can put on different gear to help you deliver more damage. It is a very challenging program to setup on your own, but if you're a master of it such as Aikar then you can do so many different things. I haven't played in a while so I forget most of it but yeah it helps you be lazy.

Are you serious? People have gotten that lazy? I had a hell of a lot of gear swap casting macros.

Writing XMLs for spellcast is one of the most time-intensive things I do in this game. It allows you to maximize literally every single action you preform. I look at it as being the exact opposite of lazy and being able to use gearswaps that are humanly impossible without its usage.

I had a macro for idling and it's easy to know when you're giong to go below 50%, you can see your mp and you know how much each spell costs. Just seems incredibly dumbed down and lazy to me.

It does far, far more then that.

A good example would be when casting Utsusemi: Ichi on PLD, you can:
Start the cast in Fast Cast gear and gain full benefit.
Then switch to Shield gear in order to maximize your chance of blocking.
Then end in Haste gear to minimize your recast timer.

If it's "dumbed down" I can send you my XML if you'd like and you can try and make sense of it. I'd almost be willing to bet my character you'd get hopelessly lost and give up, especially since you seem like an arrogant prick. It goes far beyond what is humanly possible, especially if you restrict yourself to in-game macros instead of windower scripts.

Seeing as how I've been retired for near 3 years, I'll pass. I wouldn't use it anyway, I like the basics.

No one has yet to argue about Windower under my interpretation. Certain plugins are certainly gamebreaking but that does not mean Windower as a whole is gamebreaking. Moreover the vast majority of plugins should be tolerated. Even if they provide "advantages" they should be tolerated because the essence of competition remains whereas botting removes competition.

I argue this is the case for the vast majority of plugins with a few exceptions (Cancel was one; I never used spellcast but I'll tack that on there too)

There is a legal doctrine that states anything you have the right to do indirectly whatever you have the right to do directly and vice-versa. This means that many windower plugins that actually do effect gameplay are legal.

For example take recast. Imagine a very talented coder made his own custom timer program to run on his dual monitor and display his FFXI timers. Every time he hits a macro he would also hit a corresponding button on his G15/G11/G19 to add that skill/spell to the timer's cooldown list. This does nothing less than recast and it is clearly legal.

If you don't think that's legal, how about if he had custom built beeping timers (like the sort you get at Radioshack) that are preset to certain cooldowns (his flash timer is set to 22 seconds, his voke is 30, etc.) Each has a different tone and he trains himself to recognize what timer means what. So when the flash timer beeps he hits flash and quickly restarts the timer. Certainly that has to be legal

The vast majority of the advantages plugins confer can be easily obtained by non windower users in a legal fashion.

The advantages of botting not only ruin *direct* competition, but they are not obtainable any other way. There is no way for you to synchronize 30+ people to take different lockout delays, up to the tenth of a second, without using a bot. And there would be no way for you to use idle AFK people as claimers without a bot.

An arms race with App? Fuzz wrote and sold both of them. It's not an arms race by any stretch.

Do you not understand the concept of an arms race? All it is is two sides escalating in response to each other in a race for supremacy.

By buying NASA/moving to a server with NASA, you prompt the natives to escalate in response or risk being overwhelmed. Thus they buy App. Fuzz is merely the weapons dealer as a whole that profits by selling to both sides.

You do realize that almost every single shell that pays in USD instead of gil for NASA simply sells the gil they make from it back, and ends up getting it for free, right?

Do I really need to get into a debate about why RMT'ing is bad?

It did not come with all the scripting tools that app did. As a former Absolution member who used it daily, I can tell you this with absolute certainty.

As I've already said, this seems highly illogical given the pricetag for NASA and the ease with which fuzz could have imported the features. I call bullshit, but again, I don't know anyone who paid $3k to verify this.

You are being unresponsive at this point.

I already conceded that botting and skill are different matters. I argued that the fact you could outcamp Quetz's lazy native shells means jack shit about you as players on an absolute scale.

No they couldn't have, because App, generally speaking, doesn't compare with NASA. NASA will outclaim it consistently to the point where most other shells just give up, then the NASA shell has free reign of kings on the server.

I don't see where this argument is getting you. So basically you're arguing that NASA guarantees success because it's so overpowered it will "break the will" of any other competitive shell.

This only magnifies my argument that you succeeded because you had a crutch in a shitty server. It didn't matter whether or not you were dedicated or skilled... you just need to stick around long enough for your bot to work some magic and be able to beat six year old mobs in under an hour.

I know I certainly would never want to have to work with Hellstorm again, much less have him be in an authority position over me.

But again this should have all been evident from the start seeing as we disagree about whether it is questionable to use a bot which by your own admission almost guarantees you will batter other shells into submission.

NASA was like the F40 of Ferrari's. The F40 was designed to go fast, that's it. It wasn't accompanied by all these extra's you see on cars like Air Conditioners and booming stereos and shit, same as NASA, was designed to do one thing only, it never had any add-ons what so ever. What reason would be possibly have to lie about this for?

Or perhaps your standards are just shit.

I know I certainly would never want to have to work with Hellstorm again, much less have him be in an authority position over me.

Maybe Hellstorm wasn't good to you because you weren't good to him? I recall seeing a SS a while ago where your LS refused to camp Faf, and why? Because Hells was up for Ridill? Ever think reasons like that may have led to the fall of Dez. Treat your members well and for the most part they do the same in return. I'm not saying Hells is the best player in the game, but his commitment to the shell unbeatable.

I think I remember a conversation on QCDN along these lines, I thought this thread was about Reala stating (already known, mostly) fact that Absolution had changed its shell/name, not the fact whether NASA vs. Windower, which one was the worse cheat.

Sure, Absolution moved to Quetz. but I remember them stating it was BECAUSE it was a shitty server, they knew they could dominate, that their would be no competition. Then Aura came happily bouncing along and threw some in their face. Both shells moved to Quetz. because they thought it was shitty.

What did we do? We laid down and let them. And now, it's gotten out of hand, now it's too late to fix it, now you want to bitch. Maybe if you'd done something about it, when it started, then you wouldn't be here, bickering like old ladies, about cheater cheater pumpkin eaters.

You can't tell me, that everyone of you, hasn't cheated once in your life. If you say you haven't, I call bullshit. Everyone has cheated at least once in their life. Fact. Get over it, grow up, either do something about it (whoops! missed your chance!) or grit your teeth, turn your nose up at them, and hope NASA's not designed for FFXIV too.
