Sorry, I'm kinda new and I was wondering which was the better of accuracy or attack. Which is better and why? Would something like Optical Earring really be worth wearing?

Depends entirely on the situation. Too much attack and not enough accuracy - you'll hit big, but miss often. Too much accuracy and not enough attack - you'll hit often, but for very light, or even no damage at all.

The perfect balance is what you want to look for.

For low levels, accuracy is the most important stat since you have almost none.

Like previously said, it depends entirely on the situation. However, for lower levels I'd recommend accuracy, since +accuracy is hard to find at that level, and your accuracy is generally somewhat low.

I pretty much base it off what I'm fighting. I dunno if you parse, probably not if your new, but thats a good way to see. If your acc % isn't looking good, fill atk slots with acc, and vise versa if you have fine acc, stack atk.

At low levels its good to use food that gives both, like rice balls. Don't use something like sushi at low levels, because it raises your acc by a %, and when you have like no acc, it is going to be a nearly wasted boost.

Is there a way to see your current accuracy, and for low levels would you suggest Optical earring(lv10 1 def +1 accuracy -2 attack)?

You silly nab =O That's why I got for you xD

Damn it's late o.o; ,but I'm done with the choco thingy.

Accuracy is hard to come by in this game >_< Wether it's buying expensive Acc gear or killing NMs for Acc gear. There's always food, but o_o even that is expensive compared to STR+Attack food.

Accuracy is very nice to have at all levels. Seeing how the earring is level 10, you're not going to find much better in that range.

Welcome to Quetzy, and QCDN. :)

Accuracy at low levels is really lacking, so you'll have to get what you can take. The level 14 gloves with +3 acc and +3eva are the best gloves for THF pretty much up until level 70 when you can use war gloves. As already stated, there is the optical earring at level 10 which is a small boost to accuracy. After that, it's peacock charm at 33 (expensive and not entirely required) and sniper's ring at 40 (ignore the level 30 rings, not worth the gil and only used to craft sniper's). There are also enchantment rings which give +acc and +att at level 14, I'd look into buying those and using them during parties.

After that, you can also use DEX to increase you acc a little bit more, but not as much as straight acc will. Outside of rings and neck, you will not find much DEX at low levels. Fill earring(s) with +attack since besides optical, there is no +accuracy earring until 60+. Since you're a thief, you'll mostly be using daggers and swords pre-30, try using the ones with +acc and att, they actually tend to be the best up until 60ish. That mostly covers it, but if you'd like more in depth, I can name the best piece per slot.

Also, I was never very fond of optical earring. It's a decent tradeoff at low levels, 1 acc for 2 attack, but most neglect the attack gained from bone earrings so you're actually losing 3-4 attack for just that 1 acc.

Use Somepage, it's really a great resource for all foods (as well as other things) and it shows a breakdown of what foods will give you the most attack for your level/base attack as well as any stat you could be looking for. Most people just get what's cheap like Meat mithkabobs and that's not entirely wrong depending on the situation, but there are better. Most attack foods give a +% bonus based on your base skill and it also has an added cap. The best foods at low level will give a higher +% but cap at much lower attack levels. You should look over the page and see what works best for you. For the most part at low levels, you'll rely mainly on food to give you the necessary attack that you need and then around 35-40, you'll want to use sushi for accuracy until end levels.

ACC from 0-100 TP. Macro Attack gear and use WS then macro back to ACC gear. Then eat ATT food. Of course I wouldn't worry much about it until hitting lvl 75 because buying double the gear all the way up isn't really worth your time. Depends a lot on your job which is better. But ACC is never a bad thing either is ATT depends on the slot and how much it will give you vs. what other things in that slot may give you.

Then if you don't have a hard time hitting use ATT food if you still do use ACC food. All in all use your judgment and test things out. :)

Are there melee jobs that hit for 0?

ps - You are super correct on that reply.

THF will hit for zero quite often (I am also a mithra with low STR) on high defense mobs like crabs and antican especially when they are PLD and WAR types or on the low range of the party. The low base DMG on daggers really sucks (the dagger fix should have been all levels and not just 65+) and in a lot of cases when you need to stack on accuracy to get TP quick, it's hard to get a lot of attack and in some cases, there just wasn't enough to suit my needs. In hindsight, I probably would have preferred subbing WAR, but most groups didn't seem to like that not to mention its a safety issue with slow vokers.

I never hit for 0 as a THF unless it had stoneskin up and everyone was hitting for 0 then again I'm an Elvaan.

You're also not fighting high defense/piercing resistant monsters, so your post is irrelevant.
