A quick backstory to this post. I originally posted this on the BigKahunas private linkshell forum after I was kicked on Sunday. When I posted it, I told him/them that I wouldn't say anything publicly as long as they'd talk about it on the board with me. Instead, it was ignored and now today I find myself no longer a member of that board. As such, I'm going to post about the incident here. I'm going to basically copy/paste with some minor edits to make it make more sense as-is needed and of course remove the disclaimer about keeping it private since he chose to throw away that option.... copy/pasta below.

Well, after getting booted from the shell for a really stupid reason, and offering a chance to just talk this out privately that wasn't accepted, this is now making its way to the flameboard.

First of all, let's look at Sunday's festivities shall we? Hyperlinking so I don't break the board with my huge resolution:

So let's start with the first one. You'll note that I didn't bother editing anything at all because I don't want to "hide the truth" or whatever. We note the bizarre sub (and you'll note we weren't the only one to comment). There was nothing overly harsh said before Tenia had a hissy fit an left, merely an explanation that conserve will save more than ballad 1. It moves to ls, still isn't particularly heated and Achates jumps right onto Mirewen's case. Mirewen is called an "asshole" and Achates says nothing about it.

Second screenshot. Achates tells her to leave, again saying nothing to the person who used the phrase "asshole". Okay.I tell him in party he's taking sides (which if you're reading along you should be able to tell is factual info). I drop pt and join up with her to go do sacrarium. Before I swap shells Hach says something about Conserve MP. I correct him because he probably didn't know, no biggie. It's factual info that it kicks in 25% of the time. Here's a link:

Achates talks about her yet again after her pearl's off. Byla straight up attacks her and again Achates says nothing. She's not even there to defend herself. Classy. I get the boot (the last few lines missing in ss#2 are in ss#3, just didn't fit in the chatlog). [Public post edit: Byla's been to all of one run so really he has no idea how well anyone in the shell plays. He's also romantically linked to Tenia so obviously he's going to say she's the best so he can keep getting some, lol].

Okay, I find this all to be pretty amusing so I send a few tells to friends about it. Jamal is in the same ls as me and starts to talk about it not realizing I'd already swapped over to the ls. It's very brief and mostly just a few of us laughing at how silly the situation is:

Mostly posting this for timestamp purposes so you can see how all this played out. Also to prove the point that anyone with the IQ higher than 13 knows that whm/brd is stupid.

So anyway after sacrarium I do a /sea to see if byla and tenia rejoined the shell after we left. Lo and behold!

You'll see this was a pretty good while after everything happened. Anyway, you'll also see that apparently Jamal decided to have some fun with this and send her tells. You'll also see that not only did neither myself nor Mirewen ask him too, but that SHE WAS BEING ACCUSED OF TELLING HIM TO DO SO. Even after he explained he did it on his own, she was still taking shit from Achates like it was her fault. Nice try but no, it wasn't.

So yeah, way to go. Then our friend Gotter logs in confused as to what's going on. Look at some of these hilarious nuggets he had sent his way:

ORLY? I'd be interested to see them actually say that here. Hey Koug, you're an officer right? Do you remember 8/26/2007? The day Achates got snippy with both you and me and we had that big discussion about how much people's opinions matter and stuff? Well, on that day Allura sent me a tell stating that both herself and Achates wanted to boot you. Unfortunately after building myself a new PC I don't have my old one with all my awesome screenshots right now, but I do have my chatlog on my laptop where I was dicussing the day's events with Mirewen so I'll copy/paste from there for now:

Well, I would've been happy to stick around and work things out but apparently that isn't going to happen now. When someone physically breaks my linkpearl then I'm done with it. I just want everyone to see what kind of leader they are following. I would've been happy to keep this local but since Achates wants to be a little bitch again it's going global. I wish no ill will towards the shell and I hope you still do well, but when you're eating that avatar's 2hr and wiping or have no chance at all stunning Dissipation (if you still fight Ultima after the 3 best mages who busted their asses for you guys for years and never got a single piece of Nashira, while the melee have 2-5 pieces of homam, all got frustrated and left), you can thank Achates. Peace out.

That's the edited copy/paste. Only changed a few sentences. Anyway, this isn't at all the only example of Achates being completely incompetant. I also have some fun chatlogs of where he discusses how non-biased he is while being completely biased at the same time. He's a complete douche and really I'm glad to be gone from the shell. Just a warning to anyone else since I'm sure BK is going to have to recruit now that all the good mages left.

I'm not at all pleased with the way this turned out, for a variety of reasons. My line about colliding egos shows up in the SS, and I stand by that statement.

Tenia, if you can't take advice, you've got problems. Even if it's not delivered in the best way, getting offended because someone tells you something is foolish. Conserve MP is a great trait, and in many instances does indeed outweigh the Auto-Refresh from SMN, and certainly outweighs Ballad from BRD unless you've got a bunch of other mages that need some kind of Refresh and you're willing to take a hit for the team.

Mirewen, for future reference, learn when to not complain. I realize, you're frustrated over the lack of success on Ultima and your lack of Nashira gear as a result. I do not, however, need to hear about it every single run you're on. I don't need to hear constant veiled accusations that the shell favors Omega over Ultima. It does, and it should. There are easily 2-3 times as many people after Homam compared to Nashira, and of those that want both, most would be willing to admit they want Homam a hell of a lot more. That aside, the other comments about you being generally abrasive aren't entirely in jest. Relax some, you'll have more fun. Learn to offer advice and criticism in a constructive fashion, preferably in /tells where it's between you and the person in question.

Rappa, nice post overall, but you've gotta admit you took a side in this too, and skewed your presentation accordingly. Achates doesn't tell Mire to leave, he tells to her leave "if that's what you're going to do" shortly after she says/threatens that she's gonna drop her pearl. Mire's advice, while arguably correct, is delivered in a vaguely derisive fashion. "If 1mp/tick means that much to you" is not the best way to start off giving advice.

Achates, personal frictions aside, /tells are the best place to handle situations like this. Calling people out in LS may be an effective tool at times, but for the most part it just tends to escalate situations. Private conversations can accomplish a lot more, just let people know situations have been resolved once you're done.

Anyway, that's it. For now at least.

Oh forgot to mention though it's kinda implied, Byla and Tenia are both new members who've run with the shell 1-2 weeks and are a couple. I'd been in the shell close to a year (I think, not really sure). Mirewen was in the shell when it was created and at least a year before Achates even joined. Leadership was passed to Achates after Quieren (the original creator) quit the game. Mirewen was offered and declined. Celvantes was in Iraq. Achates pretty much asked for it and got it. The flame is basically about what a poor leader he is, siding with new members over something incredibly stupid rather than the people who actually made the shell good.

That's pretty typical for any Limbus shell, unless it's filled with almost exclusively career mages.

Let's not forget that you need to clear only 4 zones for an Omega set, versus 6 for an Ultima set. Successfully dual-zoning will allow for an Omega pop every 3rd run. It's every 4th run for Ultima if done the same way, but that's harder to pull off. Omega sets are cake to obtain. Ultima sets, not so much. Sure, they aren't difficult to obtain, but they literally take more time, and are more resource intensive.

Minus, of course, any chips obtained during Ultima/Omega fights. Though, those aren't a guarantee.

I wasn't complaining. As you will see in the SS, I was offering advice on what the better sub would be for the situation. She basically said that if I didn't like it, I should be on WHM. The when I said I was going to be on BLM, the job I was asked to come on, she said "bye" and left. Temper tantrum much? She could have stayed /BRD, I didn't care. The REASON for her wanting to go /BRD was the issue. And if you will recall, the last Limbus we had before that (the Sunday before) she had mentioned she was coming on /BRD next time and Gotter and Rappa told her why it was a bad idea, I said nothing. Not one word. The BLM party we have is almost always without refresh, whatever, bring cookies.

If you think Nashira was an issue, it wasn't. I have been in that shell since it was created and was incredibly loyal, but when you notice many of the old school mages leaving (Hali, Otak, Me, Rappa, Gotter) you have to question why. There is only so long you can stay in a shell and get crapped on by the person who is supposed to be leading. I've gotten one AF+1 the entire time I was in that shell and I was in it for over a year. I have no problem helping friends and not getting gear for myself, which is why I've stayed so long. But when a brand new member throws a fit when someone gives advice, I don't need to stick around for someone I've done 1 run with to bitch at me. I was NOT the only persno who commented yet I was singled out by Achates, (again, look at the SS). I was called an asshole then was told I needed to be quiet. Sense in that?

Yes, S-E wasn't thinking when they decided Ultima vs Omega pop conditions. That's not a shell's fault as long as they work around it. We fought 3-4 omegas per ultima, and ultima was almost always pushed back for weeks at a time due to lack of attendance (ie the melee not showing up since it wasn't omega related). I'm not saying everyone did this, but enough did to where we couldn't beat Ultima, ever. There are some really awesome players that are exempt of this, but even them showing up just wasn't enough. :/

Anyway, I honestly can never at all think of a time where /brd is going to be viable. You are constantly wasting 8 seconds recasting ballad 1 and it doesn't stick long (even for real bards) since there's no instrument for it. While you're casting Ballad and your tank eats a move, you can't cure him. He dies while you're singing in that horrid singing voice that all chars have. WTG.

You've got alot of nerve bringing common sense and logic into this Mister! I wonder how far this will go before we hear the, "It's my $14.95 per month, I can sub whatever I want!" crap.

Mire, if you had no problem hanging out and helping others, then it would behoove you in the future to not constantly complain that you're not getting what you want. Even thinly veiled complaints, even constant snarky (I love that word) comments, and just either accept that you're gonna be waiting for a long time, or that you're going to have to go elsewhere to get what you want.

When people are hesitant to run zones because you're not there, not because they particularly want to see you get some piece you especially desired, but because they don't want to hear you complain that the shell didn't put everything on hold to accommodate your schedule, it's generally a sign that you need to relax.

In an effort to "persuade" the melee, hungry for Homam, the leads need to postpone further activities until the Ultima set is used. Scratch the mages backs and they'll scratch yours. With a 3-4:1 ratio, it should be painfully obvious the melees need to cowboy up, shut up, and help out the mages in the shell no matter how much they don't like it. Doesn't sound like a very cohesive team, anyway. Again, better off somewhere else. Preferrably with people that will even do Ultima...And win, XD.
