I got this game for my roommate more as a joke. Now we can't stop playing it! Since X-mas day we've played and are already making our way through beating expert... jesus its hard!!! BTW did I say this game is addicting?

I know what you meen man, I play that game so much. My gf really hates video games but is OBSESSED with guitar hero. She beat medium mode over the holidays and is working her way through hard right now... I'm stuck on Free Bird on expert atm ; ;

I feel ya man. I'm still trying to figure out how exactly they injected the crack directly into the guitar.... would prolly be easier to investigate if my left hand didnt hurt so much...

ya my roommate and I are stuck on Cowboys From Hell on expert (GH1) and Freya Expert (GH2)... WTF, Freya is stupid hard!

I'm in the 2% minority that doesn't play this game. I always wanted to try and pick it up, but after everyone else in the room appears to be masters at the game, it's kind of intimidating.

Nah, if that guy was pure win, he would picked a harder song and not fucked up a half dozen times.
idk, I think the game is cool and all... but when people get so into the game... and think theyre the shit, its retarded lol. Its nothing like actually playing a guitar, but people treat it as such?

I am very confused.

It's a lot like guitar and yet, it's nothing like it. The coordination point is definately huge, but the other aspects are pretty touch and go. It's so f'ing fun though. I think guitar players actually have more trouble with it at times though. As a guitar player myself, I find myself getting so into the jam, but then when I want to hold that note an extra second, or hit that one note a tiny bit early, I fuck up...Because GH2 doesn't leave room for personal style lol.

I agree Cythe. I actually just sat down and played this for the first time the other day, and it was damn hard. As a guitar player of 6-7 years, i thought "Bah, its only 5 buttons, this should be cake"...boyyy was i wrong.

But actually, i was really close to running out to buy it right after, it is a freakin blast.

According to Electronic Gaming Monthly (via Joystiq), there's a special 1980s edition of the game coming out this year.

Guitar Hero is easily my favorite console game I've picked up in a while, I've put so many hours into that game already it's almost sad lol. Pretty much beat everything in both games... cept Jordan on expert (if you haven't seen the video... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ym6sjIzlHTY this song makes me die on the inside)

The 360 version of GH2 looks like it's going to be amazing, going to have 10 extra songs (listed here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guitar_Hero_2#Xbox_360_exclusive_tracks ), and rumor says that all the GH1 songs will be downloadable. And if you've seen the videos of hacked songs on PS2, it'll be a lot easier to do with 360. Can't wait to play this at my friends D:

speaking of GH, theres also a kind of old game that you use drums.... Something like tekko tekko drum master, or something. My cousin had it, it was pretty fun as well. If you havent played it, you should try to find it. Gonna be kinda hard though, since it was on PS2 and is kinda old.

Edit: Taiko Drum Master

What's to be confused about? It's a video game. There are those that are going to think they are the shit whether it's Guitar Hero, FPS, and even FFXI. They all require some level of skill to be considered "good" and in this case Guitar Hero requires you to be very fluid and articulate with the movement of your eye/hand cordination. When you beat a song that is difficult you should have some pride in yourself for nailing it.

thats cool and all. But Ive seen people throw their controllers across the room, and get up, throw their arms up like in a victory stance... omg, wtf. And the people that constantly yell and scream "YEAH FUCK YOU I KILLED YOUR ASS BITCH ASS MOTHER FUCKER!!" when they kill you/win, and "OMG YOU FUCKING HACK/CHEAT YOU BITCH ASS MOTHER FUCKER!!" when they lose..

Its just weird lol

as a guitarist of 10 years, Having played this game. It is much like playing guitar, and playing guitar certainly makes you much better at the game than someone who might not have played guitar, thats not to say someone who doesnt play guitar cant get really good at the game cause at the same time its not like playing the guitar. As it was said before, Coordination is definantly a factor and i thank my real guitar skills to how well i play the game.
