On top of what I previously said Dan rather was fiered and reilved for makeing up a completely false story and even makeing up evidence if this was done in a jury trial there would be a federal investigation! People fuck up on both sides of the ile but no one person is solely responsable as much as you'd like to pin it on them.

Our government did support the creation of the internet and research and development to help with these advancements. Our current government wouldn't know anything about that as we spend nearly half of our budget on the military these days.

And yes, I should have either left the draft dodging part off or added it to clintons as well. Although...
Draft dodging to go to school > Draft Dodging to Snort Coke and Drink beers.

Ordering the deaths of thousands is murderous no matter how you look at it.

He wasn't the only one that wanted revenge after 9/11 but his adminstration let it happen in order to have a reason to wage war.

jesus my respect for you declines by the minute.

You do know the internet was developed by the DOD, right? And the rest of your post... just... wow.

I had to google "tribal sovereignty" to figure out what it was talking about. I think most of us would stumble over that too. Anyway, let's not make this thread worse by spamming with Bushisms...everyone makes grammatical mistakes everyday and they go unnoticed because there isn't a reporter recording everyword.

How bout we have a nice laugh like it was intended?

but damn, wow, this thread is bigger than I realized.

But it aint the internet sir.

Perhaps I should reword - the DOD developed the internet technology. I didn't specify because I felt it was implied.

Darkdante said:
So what did Trippy say that made it wrong?

The DOD is not our government???
Did Trippy say anything about internet technology?

No, the DOD is technically not the government (funded and controlled by it), it is the military. Look at what he said again.

See this is why I flame you alot, you piss me off.

Grrrrrrrr.....

Tell me your not THAT stupid.

Okay come on now, you're a big boy, here - I'll walk you through this one.

Ok here - he's saying that Clinton was great because he cut military spending AND funded the internet. So follow through the logic, it's extremely simple.

Internet = good (for culture and economy - as was discussed [NB: He is saying that Clinton is responsible for the economic boom brought on by net business because he funded the internet, even though this is not true])

Military spending = bad because that's something evil republicans do. (This is why he says 'Our current government wouldn't know anything about [supporting research and development to help with societal advancements] as we spend nearly half our budget on the military these days.

Ok - recap. Internet good, Military bad.

The irony of all this is that arpanet was developed by the DOD (military) using dollars appropriated by congress towards military expenditures - yet Trippy wants to rail on about how military spending is bad.

I'm playing nice here - so hold back on the F bomb there guy.

Ya..... But Trippy never said anything about Arpanet or internet technology, he said INTERNET.

Your argument is like if I someone stated that Microsoft created windows, then you come along and say, wrong, Apple created the technologal idea for windows (they had the idea for a GUI).

Your not playing nice you just don't like to be wrong.

No - It's more like saying Linux is based off Unix - seeing as if Unix never existed, linux wouldn't either. The internet is that close to arpanet. The internet would not exist without it. Arpanet > NSFnet > Internet. That's about it. But regardless of how far removed it is, the internet we know today would not exist without arpanet, funded by the DOD. His entire statement is ignorant (and I say that in the nicest way).

And I already said I should have reworded it, go back and look at that.
