Hello all :)

My LS does a lot of events like Garrison as an opportunity for members of all levels to join together as well as providing some gil/items for all involved. Up until the recent change to the mail system, we had a method of distributing gil with which everyone seemed happy. Unfortunately, pooling the items to a few mules for sale and mailing the gil is no longer an option, and designating a time for everyone to gather for distribution lacks feasibility as well.

What I'm considering is a lotting system based at least in part off attendance, much the same way that I imagine Gods/Dynamis LSs handle their lot eligibility; however, not being in one as yet hampers my understanding quite a bit. Would anyone be willing to either post the rules that their shell employs, or point me to a website where such rules are already posted?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Most LSs handle money items by selling all the stuff and dividing the money evenly as well. Being a LS though, the people sending and receiving the money are going to be on at the same time for future events anyway, so the money is often handed out then.

On a points system, you earn points for time attended (usually) and then you can use those points to bid (as in auction) when items drop. This is usually only done for items that the shell wnts to retain though, rather than those that are sold for gil.

That latest patch is quite an annoyance I'd agree. Hopefully if enough people voice this to SE they might change it back to the old system.

What we did in the past with Garrison is we had the person trading the garrison item lot on an item that they wanted. Everyone else free lotted everything else. Once they won a lot-- they did not lot any more until everyone else had obtained something. It kept things simple to keep track of and completely luck based. Some days you got nothing, but all in good fun.

The other option is to continue with your split loot routine and simply divy the gil upon your next scheduled run or when you see the person next. Keep a list of who has been paid, etc-- and if you have a forum you can have more than one person in charge of divvying the loot so that when someone is paid you can mark them off depending on if you have an honor system.

If you know the people that you are doing the runs with it makes it easier for a honor system to be put in place, but if that is not the case I'd return to just doing a lotting system or an auto-drop system.

Yeah, my LS and some people I did Garrison did it that same way too. Even in BCNMs mostly, if it's your item, orb, etc. to start whatever it is, you get first lot on what you want first, then either the rest can let it free drop or everyone lots on everything afterwards if they want it or not.

my ls when we do events give it to the shell leader or the highest ranking member there(oldest member of the linkshell) and they go on sell it, post on our website the gil they got, and everyones share. Its then your responsibility to find the person in game and get the gil. Usually most people just get it at the next hunt.

When our LS runs Garrision, all Mannequin legs and feet that drop during fighting, we let fall free (Or free lot if there are a lot in the treasure pool after the NM is dead)

The item trader then gets first pick out of the final loot, everything else is a free lot.

Some times people get good items, sometimes not, but we do it weekly, so it all averages out in the end.

Thanks for the advice guys ^^

I totally agree that the change to the mail system can be a major pain in the kiester, but given the impact I'm sure it's had on RMT, this seems like one of those situations where we're just gonna have to take the bad with the good.

Having read over your responses, I'm thinking about putting together a system that is more or less a hybrid of the methods you've detailed above. Wanna hear it? Here it go:

1) Lotting (or /random)
All lots will take place after the final run. Any mannequin parts that drop during battle will be allowed to fall where they may. Lotting privileges will accrue on a round-by-round basis, participants receiving one point for every round they attend. Points will be tallied at the end of each round.

2) Dragon Pages
One Page from the Dragon Chronicles will always go to the trader. If there were any deaths during the run or in a previous run, those individuals receive first choice on any remaining pages. Otherwise, pages are free for lotting. Lotting a page does not constitute your use of any accumulated points.

3) Garrison Items
All items will be pooled to one person who will then offer each item up in turn for lotting(/random-ing). Lotting of equipment shall take place in the following order:

A) Trader is guaranteed an item of their choice.

B) All other participants are allowed to use their points on items they desire. Participants also have the option of reserving their lot to a later time. If multiple people have accrued the same points total, they will all be allowed the option of lotting. Any item that goes unclaimed will be pooled for sale, gil going to the LS coffer.

Example: Warrior currently has the highest total at 9 points, Black Mage has 8. Warrior is allowed to choose an item in the same manner as the trader, thereby losing a point, or Warrior can reserve his points to a later time, now allowing Black Mage to choose whether or not to use their points, and so on down the line.

I'm hoping that all my pals find this system to be fair, and I'm hoping that it will also encourage two things that make for a good weekly garrison - trade items and consistent attendance.

Reau that sounds like a great idea. that was similar to what i was thinking about for the LS garrisons. Well once i get off work well have some more brain storming and see if there can be any fine tuning but over all i like the idea that you have put forth
