The problem with argument people should or shouldn’t smoke is that the exact same argument can apply to all kinds of things people do in there every day life. Having an X-Ray can cause cancer; many medical drugs we place into our body are actually toxic. Some foods we eat can also kill us. It’s hard to justifying outlawing one with out in turn justifying outlawing the others.

Kinda like how chocolate has poisons in it that our body is more or less immune to but most animals (primarily dogs) get horribly sick if they eat it..

But isn't not watching out for traffic and stuff just equally stupid as damaging your body with drugs/booze/whatever anyhow?

TV and Computer monitors cause eye damage, and put off Gamma Radiation. How long are you playing FFXI?
 
Not watching out for traffic is incredibly stupid but that's only an example. I just mean that anything can happen at any time. If you don't want to engage in any other activities that my cost you your life, then so be it.

heh I don't wear mine because.. I'm 5' tall and I typically drive trucks ( I LOVE me some Dodge Ram XD ).. the seat belts cut right across my neck if I wear them properly. I don't wear them because they'd snap my damn neck off if I got into a crash.

Very true. I'm 4 ft. 11 1/2". I have the same problem. My sister was 5 ft. 2". What actually killed her, besides the big ass hole in the back of her head was the airbag opening up on the drivers side and the seat belt constricting her movement. The airbag opened up, squished her heart, the Ayeora (sp?) separated from her heart and she died. It's probably best she did cuz she was very very intelligent (unlike me) and had a real thirst for knowledge. Had she lived they say she would've been a vegetable for the rest of her life.

Hence, why I don't wear mine unless I absolutely have to.
 
Ha, that's one of those medical things lotsof people believe without proof...

Reading in the dark doesn't damage your eyes, at all...light from TV/computer monitors can cause damage but only if you're really close to it, because it makes your eyes take in too much light at once with can burn the retina. And computer/TV monitors tend to produce no more radiation than the sun (there IS radiation, but it's not like you're taking an x-ray). =P
 
Nono, don't be sorry. You didn't kill her. A drunk driver did. Just further illustrating that not all "laws" are best for all "people".
 
I’m sorry to hear about your sister Kat. I’m 5’4’’ and I’ve disabled (illegally) the airbags on my truck. Seat belt doesn’t bother me, but the angle of the airbag is improper because of my height.

Yeah, airbags worry me too, I think you would have a better chance of surviving if you were thrown from the vehicle rather than being trapped in it like a sardine in a can... but ah well I don't plan on dieing anytime soon. *knocks on wood*

I usually get a bottle of Jack Daniels, a few beers, a full pack of cigarettes, some dirty magazines, my thrusty blow-up doll Dolly as my cheering section, then I shut off the lights and pick my nose!

Oh and did I mention I am always only wearing shorts? Not boxers, withe shorts with the blue stripes that cross at the front... and socks (my feet gets cold from all the drinking)

Fire, you say people say not to smoke because they don't want to see me inhaling toxic fumes. I say you're right in some cases but wrong in most. People tell me not to smoke because THEY don't like it, or do it. Most people will NOT give me the reasons you have, but will tell me it's "stupid". The same people who tell me not to smoke get in my car and don't put a seatbelt on (I require seatbelts in my car, if you won't wear one you're walking). So while you may have valid reasons for saying "Don't smoke" other people do not. What pisses me off is that YOU are the minority. Assholes prevail in the world today and they are more than willing to express and attempt to force their opinions on you. However, regardless of arguments valid and invalid alike, I will continue smoking.

my take on this: do what you want to do. if you don't want to wear seatbelts, fine. get in an accident and die because of it, that's your own choice. if you want to smoke, fine. just don't let me breathe in any of the smoke. it's your money, your own body, do what you want. :o
it's america! ppl can do whatever they want!

Why don't you go tell this my favorite resturant who just recently banned all smoking. I can't do what I want. I can't eat some mahi-mahi fish, and enjoy a smoke afterwards, because of these liberal-yahoo-L.A-holywood-newyork-hotshot fucks.
