So... yeah, ever since hitting 68 on White Mage I've been somewhat vocal in my desire...abject NEED... for one of the two Refresh body pieces that seem to be (or at least have been) a sign of status and dignity for White Mages - Noble's Tunic and the Cleric's Briault.

As the months wore on, I'd given up any sort of hope that I'd ever get either of the two...as I couldn't put in the sort of time needed to farm 2+ mil (at the time) for a Tunic, and I sorta gave up on seeing the briault drop in Dynamis.

Tonight in the Glacier Dynamis, we at Invictus were trying the Hydras (only our second time, if I remember correctly) and we were doing rather well actually. I was just doing my White Magely thing in the tank party keeping the main tank healed and hasted.

Someone made a remark regarding AF that quickly scrolled by in the chatlog, but then as the monk went down I saw "You find a Cleric's Briault" light up the screen like a brand new day.

I laughed and wept and mis-macroed at least two or three times afterward. It was so so very awesome! Now I'm 4/5+1 on whm relic gear! I'm so happy ^^

Oh yeah, I also won a 100c from that same run. So I could possibly use it to buy a Noble's Tunic, if I weren't so driven to get a G-horn for my bard, that is.

Thank you so much Invictus!

Grats on the body, good piece. Now, if you're too lazy to farm 2m at the time, 1m now for a nobles, the absolute best curing body piece in the game. How do you expect anyone to believe you have the drive to get an upgraded relic?

shmexy meeze is so analytical... grats on teh uberz drop btw.

Tsk for a snarky comment in good times thread, but all the same a valid point worth considering. :P

Firstly, thanks for the congratulations.

But wow, Meeze, your experience and your knowledge of the game has always had me hold you in the highest regards. I mean, Galka get cool points in my book anyway.

Why feel the need to tear me down when I'm having a great night? Especially concerning issues of which you have no way being aware. It's been a rough year in a lot of ways and bountiful in others. In either case, I just don't have the time to spend on longer periods of in-game activity.

It's not laziness, but how I manage my time. In general I've had limited time to spend in game for the past few months, so I maximize time spent on tasks A, B and C to further my goals in game, rather than X, Y and Z which would further secondary goals, things that are less important to me in the grand scheme of playing.

If you genuinely think I'm being lazy take it up with me personally and privately as a character flaw I need to work on so that I can be a better player (and by extension a better person), rather than an object of public ridicule so that you can somehow puff up your ego.

Besides, you're better than that.

I want to be a better player and I want to have fun. If you think you can help me out in either of those pursuits, feel free to invest the time and energy to show me how.

But this isn't the flameboard, so truce, alright? Maybe I am being lazy and just throwing up excuses. Perhaps I really do need to commit a bit more to my G-horn goal, since if it's obvious enough that you can see a problem with my mindset, then it's probably readily apparent to most others too.

wasn't trying to rip into you, but you said you "don't have the time" to get 2m, yet an upgraded relic is worth well over 100m, and getting a 100c here and there won't get you there.

In a nutshell, sell the 100c, get a Nobles, you'll be that much more effective in your job.

There are people with 100 crafts and whohave bought massive amounts of gil and are extremely rich that are still working on relics. Might want to lower your standards to just having elite gear, because most of it isn't all that expensive anymore.

You have time to dynamis enough to put you into top tier for that piece, you probably have time to get cop done and get yourself loquacious and magnetic earring.

I'm guessing you have a 75 WHM, and BRD? That takes time, time you can work a hustle.

And you know me from AG as well as the boards, you know I come off blunt, if I wanted to rip you, I'd treat you like hellstorm or ruffy, or someeone like that.

Hate you and your 924 lot!

Ok, I kid. Could you share your luck with me please? I always get awful lots.

I agree with meeze that you should spend the gil on a Noble's rather than a Gajallarhorn. It'd probably make that much more difference .

A good times thread is certainly not the best place to throw out such criticism, but it's been my observation that there are a *lot* of people with 500k to their name who become starry-eyed relic upgraders to be, as soon as they win a 100-coin. Occasionally they may even get a few more, and in a fit of nubishness spend them to hit stage 2. They *might* even hit stage 3 (although that's already more daunting), but considering their finances they almost certainly don't reach stage 4 or (the useful) stage 5.

And in the process, the coins they *do* spend? Can't go to anyone else's upgrade and can't even be resold for a refund.

My advice: if you don't have millions upon millions upon millions of gil in pocket already, and if you don't have a reasonably fast source of income (say, a mil every two weeks, preferably much more) ... if you truly think you can do it, by all means, go right ahead collecting currency at your own pace. But don't be stupid and actually *spend* it, until you have enough currency and items for at *least* stage 4 if not stage 5.

The best people are the ones that get coins, trade them to get stage 1 or 2, and then realize how taxing it really is to get the relic weapon. What a waste.

Everytime I see Mor now I smile... and then I wonder where that second one I paid for in the deal went... stupid golbin I told him to give out the glass with 2 hidden inside... oh well life goes on....
