Age of Conan Screenshots

Not sure why but my screenies don't look as good as the others in here>< Still pretty cool.

Resizing them kind of kills them. You can try using www.picoodle.com to host your images, too.

When I hit 40 the other night I took a screenshot because I wasn't going to be able to read all of the text on the screen before it disappeared..

First off.
Holy crap.
Second off. Holy crap!

That second SS(the demonic guy?) is astounding. Plus, the half naked demon chick in the last one? I may have to look into this game rather than WoW!

Anyone willing to link to the BEST site for info?(recommended PC specs, playable chars, story line, etc)

You can use something like Picasa to resave the images as jpg (have to go into options to tell Picasa to looking for .png files) if you don't have something like photoshop to resave them.

The demon guy is my character. He's called a Herald of Xotli and is sort of a mage/melee hybrid, though he only has like two spells. He can only wear cloth, which kind of sucks, and pretty much only uses great swords. The "story" behind a Herald of Xotli is he is an avatar for a demon/demon god or something like that, so he's basically possessed. You can get an ability called Desecrating Essence that lets you take the demon's form and it buffs you up and gives you an aoe fire damage aura. All the magic damage done by this character is fire damage. The main spell (and almost only spell) you use is called Hell Breath, which after you put five points into it's casting time, turns it into an almost instant cast front conal (90 degree) damage spell that hits enemies that are standing right in front of you. It's a fast spell that does pretty decent damage that you can cast every 5 seconds.

The naked chick in the last screenshot is a demonologist's succubus. They basically summon a demon pet. If you're a male demonologist, then your demon is a succubus (female), and if you're a female demonologist, then your demon is an incubus (male). I don't know too much about the class, but people are complaining about them being underpowered end game, but that will probably be tweaked, seeing as how the game JUST came out.

The official forums for the game are still locked to subscribers only, but I think they'll open them up eventually. They're just wanting to get feedback and stuff from actual players at the moment, which is why they also haven't started doing the friend trial keys.

Required
OS: Windows Vista/XP
Processor: 3GHz Pentium IV
RAM: 1GB RAM
Video Card: Shader Model 2.0 and 128MB RAM: NVIDIA GeForce 5800 or ATI 9800

Recommended
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz (E6600) or better
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 7950GX2 or better
RAM: 2GB or more

I really wouldn't try running this on any less than a 7900 series video card. Even then, it will still have some issues. You need a really good system for the game to run well with super high settings. The video card is very important, and as usual, I'd recommend an 8800GT with 512mb ram.

To get the game to run at 30-60 fps average with the settings used in those screenshots (will sometimes drop to 20 in the "Iron Forge" of the game, Old Tarantia, or 150+ in dungeons), here are my computer specs: Q6600 Core2Quad (2.4ghz) cpu, Asus P5N-E SLI motherboard, 4gb ram, WD Raptor 150gb 10k rpm hd, BFG 8800GTOC 512mb video card, Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum, and Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit.

well i overclocked my system a bit ago, never tried it before. and im running some pretty basic stuff, and now i average 30FPS in high settings.

My specs

Windows XP Media Center
AMD Athlon 64 3200+
1.5 GB RAM (gonna throw in another 512 in a min)
Nvidia Geforce 7300GT 256 MB RAM Shader model 3.0

not top of the line and just above the minimum from the benchmark i ran, but since i turned on high settings and turned off shadows and overclocked im averaging 30 FPS, never imagined it possible either!

What I do is just make a separate chat tab for On-Screen Messages. I noticed you have a lot of tabs there ... one more won't make a big difference.

I also detach combat messages into its own window, so I can watch my damage better.

Do you like the game so far euphacent? my cousin is level 80 and from what i have heard, the end game literally takes no skill for the time being. The dungeons seem empty and any zerg party can accomplish most of the stuff, since alot of classes have aoe attacks and aoe heals. I don't think i'm going to renew my subscription unless i see some sort of skill required in pve.

Yeah the last tab in the last shot is for "Junk" messages. I don't really watch my damage too much. I just know I'm doing good if I'm pulling it off the tanks and rangers. Need to get some kind of parser. I forgot the stuff I was filtering was going to the Junk window. :)

I heard there's not really an "end game" yet. All the current "end game" stuff is just exp areas and small group dungeons. The aoe heals help, but they're pretty much all heals over time, and it's very easy for a healer to pull aggro.

ALL attacks in the game have an aoe effect on them. Just doing a regular swing can hit multiple mobs, but will do the most damage on the target. If you swing with your right hand, you will probably hit a mob to your right by a small amount of damage while doing significantly more damage to your main target. It's interesting how it works. The game just came out though, so I don't think people should be too critical of the end game stuff yet. It's been out for what, almost two weeks now? There wasn't even an Onyxia when WoW first came out.

I heard the first expansion for AoC will be out this year... though I don't know anything about it.

While im not playing the game but remember that WoW virtually didnt have an end-game for a year. Hell when the dungeon Maraudon came out, that was a big deal for awhile.

I think UBRS was the end-game, and i wouldnt even call it that. Usually takes at least 6 months for them to release that first big dungeon. I"m sure AOC will release a raid or two before a year has passed.

How do you extend the chat bar down like that?

You can drag the corners (the spots you can grab to drag are really small). You might need to right click and undock the chat window first.

I'm not quite sure where you got this information from but if a person gave it to you I'd slap them and if a site gave it to you I'd stop goin' there.

WoW had plenty of end-game at release. I remember hittin' 60 not long after it released, maybe 2.5 weeks, and immediately joinin' my guild through Scholomance, Stratholm, LBRS, and UBRS. Back then those instances where tough and could be considered "light raidin'" to what was to follow. They were very much end game at the time.

MC and Onyxia were also included at the game at its release. However, MC's attunement entry was not set for quite a while (you had to go through BRD and not just to the door where the attunement quest takes you), it came even later than when guilds where successfully beating it. We tried MC a lot in the beginning. It was bein' cleared well before the year marker. Blackwing Lair was introduced -almost- 8 months after release. It was the first raid instance, hell first instance period I'm sure, to be patched into the game.

Anaeran, are those blood splatters on the HUD? lol

I think I might try this game out when I get my new rig.

Yes, blood splatters during fatalies and spills all over the HUD...it's awesome. Nothing like shooting a guy in the throat with an arrow and watching him try to gasp for breath as his blood spurts all over your screen.

I've got a screeny of me rescuing a chained up topless chick too but that's not appropriate for these forums lol

So after playing this for a couple weeks now, I've come to the conclusion that it's a fun game, but it's still a bit too buggy. Some of the "major" quests you can do, such as the Pyramid of the Ancients ones, are really flakey. There are also some issues right now where the mounts run the same speed as you do... at least I really hope that's a bug. Hopefully they'll get this stuff worked out soon.
