OK I partied with this thf last nite. I have to say this THF was the worst I have ever partied with. What was the wierdest thing was the guy NEVER stacked SATA >> WS. He would SATA onto me and then WS 3 seconds later. On top of that he would NEVER SC. Vorpal Scythe >> SATA Viper Bite and the guy NEVER tried to SC with me. The worst part was not the not being able to SC correctly but the fact that while our party was together for 3 fights he pulled a link twice. My thoughts are that this guy had to have bought an account or something. All of the above things mentioned i expect a thf to do. Agentzero YOU SUCK!!!!

Good god... There certainly are a lot of players at our level that suck.

Although, for all I know I could be one of them... ><

I wish SE had implemented a rating system for each player viewable by all players. when you "check" someone, you could see what they are rated from 1 ~ 5.

But I can see that being abused, because a ton of people in this game get off by screwing with other people. It's so sad. :x

Just a percentage rating scale -and- the number of people who've rated him, so like... 87% - 32.

So that way if the guy's 5% - 2, you can ignore the rating... But if he's at 5% - 18, you know something's up.

And if someone's at 1% - 300, you know their name's Roofie. XD

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Anyway, ignore my rambling, I'm bored. I met a Paladin back at level 50 who didn't know how to macro Provoke, and specifically said "so i just provoke when it goes after the mages, right?" so... yea... Curse you eBay!! *shakes a fist in the air*

It would still get abused. I know if someone said something in their linkshell about one player then the entire linkshell would rate that person poorly whether they had first-hand experience with said person or not.

I had already considered such an idea before but people could and would abuse the system too much to make it worthwhile. All you can do now is be wary of the names of bad players and avoid them the best you can. Although lately there seems to be either an abundance of bad players or just people are getting fed up with poor players and don't realize they are playing just as poorly.

Personally, I think if you plan on playing a job and I mean any job you should play it to the best of your ability regardless of its only for a subjob or maybe even the sub of your sub. It doesn't matter. There are 5 other people who have invested their time as well as your own to get experience and as much as possible in the least amount of time. You should respect that someone else invited you or you got someone to accept your invite and show them the same respect by doing your job. It is in your own interest to maximize experience for yourself as well as your own party so you can gain that level faster whether you need it to do BCNM or to level that sub for you main. If you cannot see that I ask you nicely to just quit or go solo.

Looks like the ridiculously slow boards this morning ate a bit of the post... I had meant to add that the rating could only be done during a party with the person, but for whatever reason that wasn't included.

But yea, no matter how little you care about the job, you shouldn't half-ass it, because that just makes things harder (if not impossible) for the other 5 people in your party.

Even off that that it'd be abused. People could just pay people for invites to get rate-ups or randomly rate-down people they THINK suck, wether they do or not. Imagine getting a party with one or two people you don't like, or you screw up in an alliance and a few of the noobs blame you. Wouldn't go well...

How about...

-You must have been in a party for a minimum of 2 RL hours in order to rate that person. This timer resets only after that person has left your party for at least 30 minutes (so you can't disconnect in order to avoid getting a rating). This timer only counts time spent in the same zone together. That person does not need to be a party member (or be in the same zone) when you give a rating, however.
-You must wait 1 RL day after giving a rating to a player to be able to give another rating to another player.
-You are allowed to give a rating to a player once every 4 RL weeks.
-You are allowed to change the rating you gave to another player at any time before you are able to give a new rating to that player. However, changing a rating in this way will reset the time you must wait before giving them a new rating to 4 RL weeks.

That should avoid abuse and only allow people to rate others when they strongly feel they need a rating.

The idea of a rating system is just 100% bad and there's no way around it. Sorry to be blunt but really, do you feel most of the general FF population feels the same, at least pre-level 60, as most of the people on this board? It's not uncommon for me talking about an item like sniper rings at level 50+ to have the party burst into laughter at the thought of one of them owning one. Everyone has different standards, and quite often my standards and that of the general population is on opposite ends of the spectrum. I think the odds are fairly high if I decided to leave a party because it sucked, people would rate me down or whatever. If they don't want to invite me, I don't care really, because they sucked anyway. But if they lower my rating and then someone decent comes along, well then I'm screwed because I didn't spend my time sucking up and not pissing anyone off.

If anything, as opposed to some arbutrary rating system just make a huge fricking list of every player on the server you've ever met and have everyone who has an opinion of them make a comment. That's the only thing that would actually work, but it would seem so judgemental no one would post there and bam, useless.

I partied with Agentzero the other day and he/she was doing perfectly fine. I myself have pulled a couple links on the first few pulls...maybe just a bad day? I know Sneakypants and Jender caught me on a bad day one time, but hopefully they understand that people do have them when things just dont go right.

Agent rarely missed a Sata and was great at SC'ing, considering s/he never knew who had Tp and was going to sc between the two Ranger <3 in the party. What really threw me off was that Agent would use SATA in preparation for the WS and not engage. I didnt know you could do that, but s/he missed perhaps one in a 2.5 hour session, so maybe you just couldnt see that Agent was actually throwing the WS in at the last second.

Plus, 2 bad pulls in the first 3 usually gives people a bias towards the person right away so I will assume you already didnt like Agent to begin with after that.

This might have happened as you say, but I will rely on my own exerpience..

NO this person was would SATA for 200 dmg and then viper bite for 20 dmg. Every single person in my party agreed that I should boot this person due to thier lack of skill. So no I do believe that it wasn't that I didnt know what was going on with them or there was a misconception. Maybe somone esle was playing thier character at the time. All i know is they were the worst thf i have ever pted with and they wont be getting an invite from me again.

Maybe Faedryth was right.

Maybe he/she was just having a bad day, even through this Agentzero sounds like he/she purchased the game yesterday by your account (etchdog2000). That is my last word on this topic.

On an off-topic note, Thief job in general is really getting hammered, which is why I have come to the following conclusion:

I will never join an EXP ever again until I have the following items:
-Scorpion Harness
-Corsair's Knife
-Emperor's Hairpin (I know, that's pretty bad  )

I will farm until I drop. I will have these items. My skill as a thief is very good, along with decent equipment (Leaping boots, hornetneedle, etc). I have turned down several static invites before, but when I have plenty of free time after school is over, I want to be able to join one with the best gear I can have.

I want to give thief a good name because I am tired of seeing all these bad ones everywhere.

Sorry for my rant.

Xelos here is what I would do... Pick up Snipers first. Macro them in for normal use and Dex rings for Sata. That will make you hit a lot more with the added life belt ( a must). I dont think anyone will think less of you for having no scorp. Hell, the Flora Coteharde is great armor at 59 and runs about 2.3 million.

Corsair knife is a good idea. +3 dmg over Bone knife will improve sata dmg significantly from what I hear.

Oh yeah wanted to add, if you have the time and friends, go for Voyagers Sallet. +3 str and +4 dex or vice versa, cant recall atm. Its rare/ex and drops off the carbine dobsonflies which have a 21-24 hour spawn. Problem is there are 10 NM that you have to kill at once so a couple smn are a must if you cant get a huge alliance. Also, you have to have all the promyvions done. They drop around 2 per kill. This is actually better in my opinion.

I dont know if I'd agree totally because of +3 agi on empy pin vs. +1 extra dex. The Str boost is ok but that isnt a thf's first priority.

Also, my 2 cents on rating system. Then the whole game could be like alla lol. (this is not a good thing)

I actually don't have problems hitting the mob. I have alot of DEX, AGI, and accuracy bonus, along with sole sushi. I just want to be the best I can be.

OK I knew this was going to happen. Xelos who are you and why are you flaming me. I am trying to think if I have every partied with you or ever came across you in game. Yep im 90% sure the answer is no. So I will go ahead and ignore this comment and mark it as a child having fun on the internet.

Good Day.
