AH prices rising!

OMG AND RARAB TAILS ARE GOING THRU DA ROOF

WHAT IS A BOY TO DO

LOL no offense Runekane but upon entering this thread I was expecting something like elemental staves or vermillion's cloak going up in price or something ><;

I hate the AH. Pretty much the only way to make your money though. When you want to buy, the price rises. When you want to sell, the price of the item you're selling lowers. This economy is too shaky, and being controlled by people who have an excess of the item. (I'm trying to sell an Austere Robe given to me by a friend who quit, to sell, and the price keeps going down because of a clothcrafter who pretty much has control of the supply).

Heh ignore them, plds, rdms, whm, blms, brds, and smns don't need any of the items going through the roof. Everything they buy is steady and rarely changes, such as spells and their predictable prices. Plus they have AF that lasts until 75, kind of hard to take their "Stop whining" posts seriously anyway. Although this post was rather funny

Vermillion Cloak? Yeah right in my dreams.

I'm a little more concerned with getting another Black Silk Neckerchief, which has jumped up to 20k now... great...

For those wondering, my first one was involved in an embarassing accident involving sphagetti and wine that all the light crystals in the world can't fix.

:( :( :(

It's a bad time to be a Black Mage.

Quake's over 200k now. What party would invite me without that? I'm so gimp... :( :(

ive noticed like dark staff jumping from150-180k....or vermilion cloak was around 2-2.1 million but i notice it going close to 3 now. its ridiculous. i think its the fact that gil keeps getting cheaper.

200k? o_O almost makes me wish I didn't eat my scroll.. (or bought like 5 when they were 100k)

It seems to be mostly JP doing this, pricing things higher and higher. Ingredients for certain items get more expensive, so the items do too. Don't know why...

Trying to compare 2.1 million vs 1.6 million(2 snipers and the future of pricing of them is uncertain, 16 in stock not selling at 800k :) ), 6.5 million for 3 sells now(scorpion), 2.5 mill and rasing(specs), and +1 manlte(800k), yes nice try. Now would you like me to add that to the other 1.5 million in equipment I have now for thief alone? Should I also mention some smaller but needed equips from other jobs(O kote, valk mask)? And that's not including the other decent pieces of equipment worth 50-300k each for a higher level melee.

Your absolute worst spells are 300k and and that's 'extermely' few of them. Some of the IV spells are 20k even, alot of spells are about 5-10k. You're in no position to be telling others to stop whining about economy problems. And blm is the best example of an expensive mage job too, it has a right to be considered expensive because of the staves.

Lets not even get started on our costs vs a smn or brd. Rdm and whm are somewhere inbetween and not to be taken lightly, but they're not that bad. Can use AF to endgame and except for cloak the rest of the equipment is dirt cheap, it's really only spells keeping them from even costing gil at all, and darkstaff and light staff, which aren't that bad at all on our server. I'd sell my hairpin and LL except they by far outperform my AF for xp parties.

I got derailed from your last post, I'd like to add one last thing. Verm cloak isn't being controlled by a bunch of chinese kids in a sweatshop is it? Just greedy/wealthy high lvls and gil buyers.

Sweet, only on the flameboards of QCDN can a joke post get crazy.

I don't care who has it worse than who for gear costs... if you can't afford to play the job the way YOU want to play it, then don't play it. :P It doesn't bother me to see mages complain about a price going from 200k or so to 300k... to a -MAGE-, that's usually a nice chunk of change.

Now, for Melee, whose gear is always really high-priced, a 100k jump in price may not be THAT big of a deal, but the pain is still felt nonetheless.

I dont see why people bitch and moan about the prices effecting THEIR JOB... it's happening all over the game. :P Even crafting materials aren't near as cheap as they were before... I'm a 44 Bonecrafter (not very high), and I'v enoticed certain jumps in prices...

Giant Femurs used to be 400-500 a pop everywhere.
Now they're 1k everywhere.

Crab Shells... 300-500 gil everywhere.
Now, they've been 1k for at least 3 weeks straight now.

Plus, less of the materials are being crafted... lol I'm having to postpone Bonecraft now because I need Dhamel Leather to continue skilling up on Carapace Masks. Yet, the past few days I have not seen a stack of Dhamel Leather on any auction house. I realize there are probably as many leathercrafters as bonecrafters. I wouldn't know; Svina knows a lot of the high end crafters, but it just seems that Bone and Leather something people get a hardon over....

Jupiter's Staff (which I panned on buying 'til its recent Price Spike) used to be like 650-700k a few months ago. Now, it's at a steady million. I plan on getting it someday, but it's not THAT essential to my leveling (I already have a Thunder Staff); would just be nice.

And the little aside about Ancient Magic (Quake costing 200k, and that would cost me party invites) was a complete joke. AM is the biggest waste of gil in the game if you don't have half a mil lying around to never see again. I'd rather spend that money on a HQ staff, but maybe that's just me. I'm sure it has its place in HNM fights or whatever, but I'm not at that phase of the game yet. :P

ive noticed like dark staff jumping from150-180k

That is still cheaper than the 250k I payed way back. And I do know people who payed 500k way way back.

only thing thats bugging me is the hauby price

850 got paid out for earth crystals . . . *sigh* why I remember when just a couple months ago they were 200 - 300 a stack . . . me? I'm leveling a new character and couldn't be happier . . . I'll take a 400% mark up on the silly things . . .

until I need them . . . then I'll turn coat and get pissy . . . it's the way of the online gamer.

I can see a month or two into the future . . .

"EARTH CRYSTALS ARE 900 gil a stack!!?? IT'S THE GIL SELLERS!! I HOPE THEY ROT IN HELL THE BASTARDS!!"

"weren't you laughing about selling them at 850 a hit a couple months ago?!"

" shut up . . ."

remember kids, unless you flood the market with the same item at a substantially marked down price you won't win against the gil sellers.

Dirge, Earth crystals fluctuate from anywhere from 500-1000 Gil in Windurst, usualy around 600-700. It realy depends on teh day, weekends they cost a bit more.

as a follow up, if you REALLY want to stop the gil sellers, here's an idea

Get a group of friends, start an anti-gil-buyer LS . . .

Now, collect the items that are really sky-rocketing on the AH . . .

Put them up on the block for a fair market value, say, what the average was two three months ago. The second it goes up, have another person bid on it for the dollar value. Trade off the item, give another person on the shell the gil earned and flood the history with lower prices, forcing the gil sellers to re-post their article at a lower price to sell it.

Collectively, if enough people do this with some work the economy would start to stablize.

Exactly, which nobody selling the item is willing to do because they're making more gil off the items this way. So I expect the economy to stay like this forever, which I'm content with. :)

Blah blah blah...

I take their presence as just part of the game... who cares... like Svina said, just do something. Work a little harder if you feel that you have to for your gear. If not, quit. Nobody's keeping you in the game. Or buy some gil. I really don't care... I've bought gil once (50k) because it looked like fun a few months ago. Would I buy it now, again? Hmmm... probably not, or hell, maybe I would, but just wouldn't want to get outcast from the community for doing so.

I think its pretty silly to crucify someone for spending THEIR hard-earned money from planet Earth on money in a virtual world in which many people play it is if its their job (7-8 hours a day or so)... I mean, if you're against smoking, are you going to bum-rush someone walking out of a convenience store with a carton of cigarettes?

I agree Rune, gil sellers are a part of any online gaming experience.

And since the only real solution is to combat them not where they get the items, but where they sell them, people who won't take the gil hit but bitch really don't have a leg to stand on because they to are assisting in the rapid inflation on our server . . . I mean I played very regularily up until May/June and took a complete vacation for a couple months, coming back now I've noticed a HUGE price shift, earth crystals just being a small sample.
