AH Taxes

Meh, havent even downloaded the update yet. Im going to give it a chance and see what happens before I pass judgement.

For those of you that haven't downloaded/noticed the changes yet:

- The transaction fee for items put up on auction is now based on the seller's asking price. The formulas for calculating the transaction fee are listed below.

Jeuno auction houses:
Single item fee = 2% of the seller's asking price +100 gil.
Stacked item fee = 1% of the seller's asking price +400 gil.

Other auction houses:
Single item fee = 1% of the seller's asking price +1 gil.
Stacked item fee = 0.5% of the seller's asking price +4 gil.

All kinds of BS.

Thanks for signing guys! And yes, please spread the word!

it will keep people from overpricing though, or atleat in theory. because they don't wana spend a fortune in Ah prices because of trying to put something on sell so many times. my 2 gil^^

Agreed, I think it's a good thing, maybe people will be abel to afford nice items for a change...

Yeah, well what about the people who took the time to camp any particular NM that dropped an expensive item in order to make some money. Now that person wants to make some money off this nice drop they actually got. In most cases NM camping is a headache enough, with competition and uncertainty. As a reward of finally getting the drop/using it for whatever one may have needed, and/or simply selling it if they had no use for it, and needed the money it would produce. Now they no longer can get the gil reward they were expecting to have, because you have to freaking pay a rediculas amount of gil to put up that expensive item.. and not even with any certainty that it will infact sell.

Though there are some upsides to this new AH system. Such as, now if one wanted to put a stack of crystals (or any other non expensive item priced at 3-5k and below) up at the Jueno AH it isnt going to cost you half of what you expected it to sell for, or a huge chunk like it used to. (This is now been changed so that people with items of actual worth now get charged obscenly)

The only other good thing I can think of to come out of the AH change is now, people will actually be using Windurst, Bastok and San D'Oria AH more often. Yet this is a problem in reality. What city do most players spend their time in post lvl 20.. Jueno.. it's the central city in FFXI.. thus players check for items there most frequently, and items put up on the AH are always items you'll need from 20-75, now, you can find low level EQ there.. infact you might even see some popping up more often now that its affordable to.

It just seems like they made it easier for poor people to put up things on the AH and pissed off a lot of people that like to or need to make large amounts of money. I sure as hell hope the prices of things dont go down.

I for one didnt spend for f*cking ever trying to camp Leaping Lizzy to get his boots so that when I got finished leveling my Thf I'd only end up being able to sell them for sh*t (not as much as they were suppose to be), or having it cost me around 7k just to put them up on the AH. I need the money that the boots would give me when I sell them. I have other crap to buy too, it cost money.. money im trying to save, not throw away just to sell something.

Personally I dont think there should be any damn AH fee, Its a place to sell/buy items. The only people losing money should be the ones gaining a new item.

I'll sign this petition.. but id rather sign one demanding no AH fees.

Really.. its not like we're inconviencing the NPC's by placing items for sale.

Bah, people could already afford those items if they went out and tried making the gil for em :)

Look at this from Deci's perspective, for example... he put forth a good effort to camp Argus, and as a reward he has to pay 200k to put his peacock charm up for sale, and if it doesn't sell (It did come off the AH once already from not selling), then that's 200k down the drain.

Well... Say your boots lose 20% of their value, +2% in AH fees... But those Stider Boots dropped a wholesome 50% in value... Would you be happier then?

I'm really not knocking off this new fee system yet. It's hard to foretell what the actual effects will be. I for one am eager to see what those changes will be. It very much can affect crafters indirectly, whether they produce consummables or durable products. So I might yet be hurt by those changes. But hey, at least the game doesn't stay stagnant.

Well he can put it up there 2.5 times for free, because of me...grrrrrr :x

Btw whoever invented internet petitions should be shot

Supposedly the reason the tax is here is to prevent prices from rising to high... IE take that peacock charm, you are probaly not gonna risk rising the price are you? What if it does not sell? It would be nice if they put a discount or eliminated taxes on food and crystals... Kinda like in real life.

That's probably exactly why... but it's still retarded. Unless you undercut ridiculously there's always a chance it won't sell.

Come to think of it, undercutting on higher priced items, while the several lower priced ingrediants stay the same, is going to make tradeskills even less profitable now.

I think the fear of losing your initial AH fee cost is what S-E is hoping for. I don't know about undercutting, but there certainly is gouging with certain items too. I would think they're hoping the prices go down because everyone is goign to naturally undercut people because they don't want to lose their fee. And it's only a percentage of what you want to sell it for. At least it's not a percentage of what the Price history was like I originally interpreted it as.

I'm going to have to wait until after the weekend. After that, the new AH system will be in full effect and the old items put on at the old AH prices may change. I just hope people don't start raising their prices to cover the AH fee. That would suck.

I goto school learning Game Programming and Design and personally from a design perspective this AH Tax system is not the best way to go about this.

My Method would of been...

1% Tax if you sell item for more then last sold price
No Tax if you sell item for same price as last sold
Old Tax to 0.5% if you sell item cheaper then last price

This way price hikeing will be discouraged and the old AH system will still be normalized. Will also discourage some people from undercutting and hopefully keep prices steady when they fall to a more reasonable price. But definitely think if they wanted to fix the system they should of punished people who increase the price while keeping the rest of the normal AH'ers happy.

And Ive had Peacock Charm come off the AH 3 times now.

Just to add.. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people take the risk and put things up on the AH for 1gil and hope no one trys to buy for a price much lower then last selling price.

It costs me around 14k to put up most of the things I make for profit. Not that bad.

Yeah Im avoiding the AH's as much as possible. All these people are bitching at EVERY single one I go to. Its really rather annoying. The people complaining are mostly the ones who wont even have a problem because they wont put up an item worth more than 40k or something. You dont see people like Svina complaining and she will have to pay a crapload more than any of us will.

In fact I have noticed that things are now CHEAPER for me to put up in Jeuno. Certain things that is, so I see NO problems with this new system. It will stop inflation big time and will encourage lower prices (dont necessarily agree with this). Wtf so you have to pay 10k for putting up a Sniper Ring for 500k....big fricking deal.

So everyone has had a day to complain so lets drop it please. Its already annoyingly old.
