I'm not trying to spark any kind of racist drama, nor am I trying to generalize. I'm in more Japanese LS's than I am NA LS's due to the timezone I play on, so that's definitely not what I'm trying to accomplish with this thread, but if there's one thing I positively cannot stand on ffxi it's Japanese racism that I have seen from quite a few Japanese asshats. From the time I started ffxi up til now, it has always been there, and I'm sure it'll always be there all the way until I quit.
On Saturday night, I was standing around town in my beastmaster gear contemplating farming or getting a bit more of an exp buffer when I suddenly see in shout in Japanese "Operation Desert Swarm. 6x blm. Do you need it? Please tell me." from this guy named Ahomi. The /shout was entirely in Japanese, mostly in Kanji, but I could read and understand what he was shouting about.
So, I shoot him a /tell "75blm <Please invite me>" making use of the auto-translation tool like only stupid NA players obviously know how to use.
To which he responds with a "Ha~i" (Ok~)
I go back to my moghouse and change from my bst gear to my blm gear, which at 75 takes a god awful long time. Basically, if I do this, I plan on staying in that new set for the remainder of the day. 10 minutes later, I come out, go to grab an Imperial Silver Coin for the warp and Ahomi STILL hasn't invited me. So, I send him a /tell "Is everything ok? Are you going to invite me?" in Japanese.
To which he responds in Japanese "Are you Japanese?"
Me >> No, but I can understand Japanese, and I've done this ks30 many times (In Japanese)
Him >> <I don't speak any english>
Me >> I'm speaking Japanese...
To which he basically ignores me the rest of my tells or has me on his /blacklist by then.
At this point, I'm telling my main JP LS about the event and how Ahomi already basically said "Sure" about me joining, and how I wasted all that time switching gear, grabbing my seals, etc. Few minutes later I see Ahomi and a crew of JP blm's up grabbing their Imperial Silver Coins. I can't really do anything, so I'm just sitting there /fuming at him.
Twenty minutes later, he shouts: "Operation Desert Swarm. 6x blm. Do you need it? Please tell me. Have 5 blm. Need 1 more"
Fucking infuriated.
Ten minutes later it's still going on, so I start shouting like a noob "lmao @ ahomi"
Every single time he does his little shout, I return with my lmao @ ahomi. Hopefully I made his blood boil at least just a little. Eventually, the shouting stops so I figure he's done and found his last asshat blm.
Anyway...
Long story short, I've ks30'd with countless JP blm's. Usually, once I get the point across that I know the strategy (what strategy?... thundagaIII > sleepga > blizzagaIII) and speak the language, the group is A) impressed with my Japanese and B) ready to go.
But every now and then you just end up meeting these total douchbags who just refuse to even give you a goddamn chance.
What pisses me off so bad is
1) I could read and understand his Japanese and use of Kanji
2) I was responding to him in Japanese (in romaji, however, but still Japanese)
3) He said yes when I first asked
and despite that he still refused to give me the benefit of the doubt.
Anyway, I'm not targeting all JP players, and I know there's good and bad in all races, but this shit just makes my blood boil. And there's nothing you can do about it really.
If I do see him up in Mount Z as blm/rdm without a party, I am going to go out of my way to camp right on top of him though. I guess all I can really do is lower his exp enough that he moves somewhere else, and then do the same thing over and over again. Not a whole lot of options. It's just infuriating is all.
And that's my rant.
