Aht Urgan only please

See, here's the thing. People say why EXP in Aht Urghan when it's overcrowded. Well here's why:

Ever party on a Saturday night, like early/late evening? It's insane. 60's EXP parties were in massive number, and getting a party alone was hard enough. Well, we head on over to Bhaflau Thickets, and there are about 6-7 parties our range. The party had immediately gravitated to the 'common' EXP camps. I had some other good spots in mind. First of my 2 spots were taken, but the second was completely empty. I still knew 2-3 other spots that were possible to EXP in and most likely empty.

That's just 1 zone too. There are so many areas you can EXP in. Hell, if you shipped to Nashmau, in the 60's, I'm sure that whole starter area in Cadaerva Mire would be great EXP. The point is, I'd rather spend an extra 30 minutes looking for a new camp with more mobs, than spend 30 minutes goin back to Jeuno, getting to camp, and dealing with what is clearly less efficient EXP. Explore people, there are so many mobs in these new zones, it's ridiculous.

Overcrowding in ToAU areas = people to lazy to explore and find the gajillion other camps us BST pass every outing to see open. Good for us, most unfortunate for you.

I feel you. Unfortunatly, you can suggest to the pty on different zones to exp in, BUT....ppl are already used to the cookie cutter zones. I've already experianced this alot also. Its kinda a damn shame.....only a month and a half the expansion has been out and there are already cookie cutter exp camp areas. ; ;

People keep speaking of overcrowded. I have camped a few places in Aht Urgan. I have never thought it was overcrowded. Mammool Ja staging point is my favorite so far. I was there with 5 other parties the other night and still pulled 8k an hr.... In a standard pt no less. Fighting for mobs and still making 8k an hr is hardly overcrowded.

I even exped my WAR at 57 on lesser colibris right outside al zahbi. Very nice exp, if I remember right we made about 6k an hr, and thats with our tank afk for 1/4th of the time.

What I like most about the new areas, you are almost guaranteed much more exp per hr, especially in a standard party setup.

If its feasable to exp in Aht Urghan areas, then i'm all for it. But, I also think logically. I think some ppl are so stubbern in worshiping the expansion that they are willing to go exp in a zone that is overpacked, thinking that their gonna have that golden exp, but end up getting the dreaded 4k exp per hour.

Their so stubborn that even if they could possibly get 7k exp per hour in the normal zones (and yes, with the right setup, there are places where you gonna rawk hard on exp in the old zones), they arent willing to go because they've been spoiled.

Also, what happens when you find out that one of the pty members doesnt have Aht Urghan, and this guy has been nothing but nice and so cool before discovering this. I've seen pty members tell me to kick him out of the pty. I say, screw that. We'll just have to suck it up and go to an old zone. I'm not so heartless and cold that i'm gonna deny someone exp because they dont have the expansion.

Not everyone buy's the expansions. Are they gimp because of that? No they arent, although i'm sure most ppl will disagree and say that they are sadly.

I think the point that alot of ppl are missing is that were not talking down on exp'ing in ToAU zones. We agree with you, it fricken rawks. BUT there may come times when it might be neccessary to exp in an old zone. When it comes that time, are you gonna be too stubborn to do so? Or will you think it out logically? That was what the OP was trying to convey here I believe.
I've had to go to the old zones because someone didn't have the expansion, and 9 times out of 10, the party ends up sucking or at best being average(ie 3k/hour). I've had good parties in the old zones before the expansion came out; but one big problem is that most of the really good players are all exping in the Aht Urhgan so people that don't are usually not very good.

The only good party I've had in recent memory on my samurai in the old zones was a melee burn with me, a brd, a nin, 2 war/nins and a whm. Almost every other party I've joined in the old zones has been average at best, whereas I haven't been disappointed in as many expansion-zone parties, percentage-wise.

Here's a good question. Where do most of you all go LFG now? Whitegate or Jeuno? Or both?

For now, I kinda find myself being in both Jeuno and Whitegate, depending on what I was doing before and where that led me to.

Whitegate mainly, since that's where my HP is and it shows that I have the expansion. About 20 minutes ago I was seeking in sandy because I was there for GP and uncursing my Shura Haidate; and I felt like staying there for dynamis tonight in the event I didn't get an invite. Got invited to a party in Boyahda Tree, we'll see how this goes.

Edit: We take a break after the first chain(someone d/c'd during the break so now we're waiting on them too), and have a melee whm. Why should I party in the old zones again?

I have no problem with EXPing in the new areas. It is just annoying to no end when people would rather get slow exp in an overcrowded area than go to an "older" area where there is no competition. It's all about the situation. I would love to explore new areas with an EXP party just to see what mobs are feasable for a party to efficiently take down. These areas are still new. There is no reason to be all cramming into one area.

I never put down EXPing in the new areas. In fact, I think it is a wonderful idea. But I do find it unbearably annoying when people can't seem to comprehend what is best for the party and situation. Even if it means not exping in the place you originally wanted to go.

Now, lets start a brigade to explore the new areas for good camps! :D

That's just a problem of idiot party leaders, a problem which existed long before Aht Urhgan came out. Seriously, cramming 5 parties into Labarinth of onzozo is just stupid and the last few party leaders should be shot.

That's some what of my point, actually. 8k is good. Minus your party being there and another party is most likely going to be able to make 10-15khrs because, as you say, you're fighting for mobs. And if you're fighting for mobs, you're over crowding the party that was there before you.

Don't get me wrong though... sometimes you break the borders of "Should I leave and let this party get even better exp? Or stay and get good exp?"

Though, I noticed the Mire to be far worse than the thickets really. I think that might be due to it being one of the easier "starter" camps to get to. Groups struggling to even get chain 5... but stay anyway despite the fact that they're gimping the exp of everyone around them.

I just got out of an Emoburn in Bhaf-whatever thickets. 3x Drk(2 /war, 1 /thf), pld, rdm, brd(me) and we were pulling in 5k an hour before I had to go. It was a great party, albeit very unconventional; so tell me, why would I ever want to party in the old zones ever again after level 55?

last night i partied in cape ter. for about 2 hours, no other parties in the zone and we pulled down 5k an hour and we had to replace BRD and PLD halfway through which took about 20 mins. If we had partied non stop for the full 2 hrs im sure we would have pulled in atleast 2k more.

I'm not saying that you can't get good exp in the old zones, I'm saying you can get better exp easier in the new ones. Sanction bonuses, an overabundance of camps and mobs, incredible AI, much shorter trips to the camps which makes it easier to replace/resupply; the new zones are better in every possible way for exp.

I was in a predominantly (sp?) JP Party yesterday morning (UK time) PLD(me), BRD, WHM, RDM, BLU, WAR in Wajoam Woodlands fighting tigers. 2 hours and 18k xp. Easy fights constant chain 5's. Why would I want to go to an old area and level. Every party i've had in Cape Terrigan etc has lead to people dying on their way to camp. Come on guys oils and powders aren't bloody hard to use. I've just noticed my partys suck if i'm not in the new areas.
