man, i was really excited when the Europeans, or EP lol, joined this game. But so far I havent seen or talked to any of them. Did any come to this server? :?: I realy want to practice my french and talk in spanish^^

shortly following the euro release, i pted with a guy from norway while i was lvling my sub.

other than that... nope.

languages i've seen in FFXI so far:
english
japanese
chinese (at least i assume it is, damn gilsellers.)
german (just fooling around and typing the answers from my homework XD)
spanish (another guy fooling around...)
pig-latin
broomish
1337

Shouldn't that be "voulez-vous" instead of "aimez-vous" (my French's a bit rusty)?
 
It could be both. "Would you like..." as opposed to "Do you want..."
 
yep, know a couple french people. Ouiais is from france, met her in a qufim party, got her Kaz keys, and added her to my LS and friends list.
 
I am french and i play this game since april. There was, at this time, a very small french community on quetzy (all french ppl tend to go to gilgamesh or midgarsorm), but I thought european release would bring more european ppl.
I dont think it's really the case (It could be different on the new servers, new players usually fill the new servers) ... my only "experience" with new europeans was the first shout in french in Bastok markets :? (the poor guy was lvl 4 and didn't knew what he had to do ... he even invited me in his pty ... I was lvl 45 at the time -_- ).

I should try to lvl one of my low level jobs, just to make statistics :D
 
In SE's infinite genius they decided not to make the ALT+### buttons work on the PS2 version :?

Je parle français et je vis à Paris. :)

But I know a few french players who are not eager to reveal their origins due to the common "fuck the french, they don't want to go fight terrorism!" a few months back :(
Me, I don't care! If you're that narrow and short-minded, you prolly don't deserve me in your party ;)

But, just for you Chpal, next time I'm in Jeuno, I'll shout my Teleport offer in french ;)
 
I know there's an all-Swedish linkshell on our server. It was around before the official Euro release though.

i know a couple of them off hand....jymmie and swede are 2 of the people that are in the ls that your probably talking about. they have been around for a while though
 
I know damn! I want to run into a situation where we have a french person in the party and I'll actually be able to communicate with them a lil better than I can JP! I was actually looking forward to said situation. Damn them!

Yeah, with all the wars you've won in the last 100 years*, we should have more respect for your military expertise. ^_^

Seriously, though, I don't care about the origins of any player, as long as they are competent.

What I want to know is this: In the official Euro release, do autotranslator phrases show up in the language of the player?

*"Hello Germany, we kept your rooms just like you like them!" ^_^
 
I've found a pretty funny Google search that you can do regarding france. Go to google and type in "French Military Victories" and click "I'm Feeling Lucky". A page will come up that says "Your search - french military victories - did not match any documents. Did you mean French military defeats?" I got a pretty good laugh out of this while sitting in school one day.
