Aion- discuss

And I may not be here this weekend to enjoy it XD. Random trips to NY ftw!?

Oh? Checking forum time with this post. Also, what time is the beta suppose to end this weekend?

Bah, I have to work Monday. Thanks Anaeran.

Rolled Elyos this time around :)

Name: Mint
Server: Zikel

Daiquiri, Elyos chanter on Zikel server, I think. It started with a Z at least.

You restart every beta event? >.O

Nah hehehe

Since I am rolling Asmo at launch, I wanted to roll an Elyos to try another job and I didn't want to get burned out on doing the same starting quests/missions again.... and again... x_x

Everyone playing for their first time this weekend, are you guys enjoying the game? :)

Yes :)

It's awesome, thanks for helping me start out, btw!

I'm also on Zikel, Templar named Kaerloc (some douche got Dejan within 5 mins of launch -.-).

Ps: Hi2u Jaz-man (2 pages ago!) <3's.

lmao I was on Ciel and there was also another person named Dejan running around Altgard.

I also made another asmo on Zikel to play with a close friend that just started. Trying out Assassin this time around. Name is.. suprise, Zenriori.

It really is a lot harder starting out on the scout path vs. the warrior path. Warrior is cake, hell Gladiator is cake compared to Assassin. At least starting out anyway. Though I have to say once you hit lvl 10 and get all the new Assassin skills it makes things a lot easier.

My friend made a Mage and she went the Sorceress route. I have to say.. it's incredibly unfair dueling a damn mage... fff. That fricken root is horribly cheesy. Not sure if anyone here knew her from Quetz, she used to play a Rdm named Mialeeda.

More discouraged than anything. By that I mean, "Just another NCSoft cheap-o title." This game feels like I'm playin' Guild Wars v.2 w/ HD, minus the word wrap, instead of a quality game like FFXI or WoW. All would be well, but then they talk about subscription fees... Maybe I just need some more time but right now I'm leanin' toward cancelin' my pre-order because not only is it nothin' special, but it doesn't have that monthly fee quality to it to me either.

Huh? You'd rather waste 15 bucks a month of WoW? You gotta be joking.

Maybe you could elaborate, because I'm having trouble following your logic. What is it about the game that makes you feel it's not worth it? As far as I see it, the games way better than ffxi and WoW.

The only thing that bothers me is that the level cap will be level 50 and like WoW, it's really not that hard to level up. So getting to level 50 would probably take a month to do, maybe less if you're really hardcore. But on the bright side, the game does offer a lot of different things, the abyss is chalk full of crap, mobs aside, it's a freaking pvp area so anything and everything could happen. I am looking foward to sieges as well. It all sounds really fun.

In addition to what I've already said, I'm not huge on pvp really. But I'll manage. That aside, the quests in this game so far are extremely enjoyable and not tedious at all. They even offer good rewards, unlike ffxi, which the quest reward is always not worth the difficulty of the quest itself. While the quests in ffxi were interesting and story involving, so are the quests in Aion. Score another plus for Aion. I guess I just don't really get why you could possibly consider this a "cheap-o title by NCSoft". Seriously, the character customization alone is enough to make most mmo players climax with happiness.

The American/European release seems significantly less EXP grindy than the Chinese and Korean one. Did 1-10 in a few hours when it took a good 8 or so in the Chinese OB. But maybe it's just because I know how to play this time.

The first 9 levels are pretty much just there for no reason. You wake up as a normal Elyos or Asmodian with AMNESIA. It's basically an unnecessarily long tutorial until you hit the only two(honestly, just one) campaign quest when your character finds out what they really are. 10+ is the real game, and truthfully, it's a PvP game, so the PvE is going to be kinda dull. The only real bad part is that 25 is the magic level, so you have to sludge through 24 just to get to the meat of the game.

But the combo system at least keeps the PvE from being completely boring.

tbh, at least as Spiritmaster, the combo system isn't that interesting to me. Flame Arrow > Burst for the next special, Ice Chain > another ice skill for the ice one. Same with earth. Can't combine one with the other, and if you press Flame Arrow, you have a 3 sec interval to press Flame Arrow again in order for the chain to activate, since Burst takes precedence over Flame Arrow.

Maybe it is different for other classes, haven't tried them out, but imo. the combo system isn't that interesting to me.

Ecks, the only way I can address your post is by sayin' our opinions are vastly different and it seems I'm more cynical to these types of products. I've played a lot of free MMOs, failed MMOs, and successful MMOs. This game has the feel of most of the free games I have played. To me this game feels like a smoother Cabal, not better, smoother. I am also greatly unimpressed by graphics which were explained to me as absolutely amazin'. I guess that's what you get when you believe people who don't even own an HD console or computer games unrelated to C.S. 1.6 and WoW.

My opinion has changed somewhat from then though, keep on readin'.

After level 10 I started enjoyin' the game a lot more. I started to get more skills to work with and soon was enjoyin' the chain system. It's really cool and much more fun than a straight combo system like Cabal and games like that. The game also sprung more to life after reachin' Pandemonium City and movin' forward. However, I'm still unimpressed by the graphics of the game, while impressed at the amount of detail to characters.

This game also seems a lot faster than WoW to level up. I think it took about 3 hours to get to almost 12. All thanks to the helpful quest helper system. I like fast levelin', one of the many things I love about Guild Wars. I hate for the game to be mostly about levelin'.

I'm sold on the gameplay now it's just goin' to be how you get your "end game" stuff I'm waitin' to know. If it's through PvP, I may do it. If it's through dungeons I'm 100% sold, but if the best armor in the game is the top set you can buy for like a mil in the big cities, that's just discouraging'. I like to find my stuff.
