Aion- discuss

I did it through Gamestop unfortunately and it's supposed to be emailed.

For those that haven't checked the Aionsource.com forums, we've been working on the formulas for Aion over there.

For Crit rate, we have:
Code:
Let D = Damage per hit
M = crit multiplier (such as 1.8x or 2.2x)
B = Base crit %
A = Accuracy
C = Crit given by gear/default (Since we are calculating how many manastones we need in crit.)

crit rate = ( 2.68E-6 * M - 4.59E-6 ) * D^3 + ( -4.68E-3 * M + 7.46E-3 ) * D^2 + ( 2.34 * M - 2.78 ) * D + ( -53.8 * M - 85.8 ) - ( B + A/200 ) * 10 - C
And for the Attack formula itself:

Code:
Damage = [(Average_Damage + Attack_Power) * (Damage_Penalty + Bonus_Damage) * ((1-Crit%) + (Critmod*Crit%))] - ((Defense * Defense_Bonus) / 10)

Crit% = Base% + (PhysCrit/10)

Eva% = 1-(Eva_Rate - Accuracy) / 1000 | If Eva% is not between 1 and 0.7, then round it to either 1 or 0.7, whichever is closest.
Par% = 1-(Par_Rate - Accuracy) / 1000 | If Par% is not between 1 and 0.6, then round it to either 1 or 0.6, whichever is closest.
Block% = 1-(Block_Rate - Accuracy) / 1000 | If Block% is not between 1 and 0.5, then round it to either 1 or 0.5, whichever is closest.

Acc% = Eva% * (Par%*(1+Reduction%) * (Block%*(1+Average_Reduction%))
DPS = (Damage * Acc%) / Delay
There's still some things to be figured out though which we can't do until Open Beta.

Some people have entirely too much time on their hands...

Personally none of that matters to me.. when you start breaking a game down by numbers just to be the best, where is the fun in that?

There's plenty of fun in that <.<; Personally, I always want to better myself, and the best way to do that is run numbers through formulas to see which equipment is the best. Very much like people do on FFXI and many other games :P

Sure people do that, but I've never been one of them. I look at the numbers on the weapons/armors in game and make my determinations of what's good based on that. I can't look at that mathematical formula and determine "oooh I need x amount of this and y amount of that and I'll be the most uber player ever!" To me that's a completely retarded way of playing, there's nothing fun about playing a mmo when you have to crunch numbers to figure out if your weapons will do more damage or have a higher crit.

Play the freaking game, figure it out through your own experience. It's not like mmo's are built for people to have to figure this kind of stuff out. That's not fun at all. And with how often you change weapons and armor in Aion formula's like this are only useful at the max level. When things are permanently fixed and can only be altered or changed by changing your armors and weapons. Still, I'm not one to give a crap about numbers. All I need to know is a basic understanding of how an attribute works compared to other useful attributes and build a character based on what I think will work well. Obviously trial and error are going to occur when you get really into the pvp, so you will find out what works and what doesn't eventually.

I just think when you break a game down to numbers, it really loses fun because you're not there to play the game to have fun. If you're running numbers you're calculating how to work the system of the game and be the best. It may just be my opinion but that's not how you should play a game. That's almost akin to cheating in my book, but I know it's perfectly fine as far as rules go.

Different strokes for different folks.
BTW Uzor if you want to take your different strokes over to me, I'd gladly accept them and giggle with glee as I become super cool at Aion.

The formula itself isn't that hard at all :P And of course its meant for level 50 first and foremost. That's when you can aim to become the best. Its pointless at earlier levels since you aim to become lvl 50 at that point and will change weapon/equipment a lot.

At lvl 50 its all about optimization and figuring out the overall best equipment/manastones in order to have the upper hand against other players, and it just so happens that using a formula is a very easy and effective way of figuring out what is the best combination.

For example, for survival, the game checks evasion > parry > block. The cap for Evasion is 30%, Parry 40% and Block 50%. If you cap all of them, you'll only take full damage 21% of the time. However, due to the nature of them, it is best to focus on one of the three rather than all of them. The same goes for accuracy, as your Accuracy is checked against the opponent's Evasion, Parry and block rate. Evasion caps at 300 over the attacker's Accuracy, Parry at 400 over, and Block at 500 over.

See, there's a lot you can learn from formulas. That's the
Code:
Eva% = 1-(Eva_Rate - Accuracy) / 1000 | If Eva% is not between 1 and 0.7, then round it to either 1 or 0.7, whichever is closest.
Par% = 1-(Par_Rate - Accuracy) / 1000 | If Par% is not between 1 and 0.6, then round it to either 1 or 0.6, whichever is closest.
Block% = 1-(Block_Rate - Accuracy) / 1000 | If Block% is not between 1 and 0.5, then round it to either 1 or 0.5, whichever is closest.

Acc% = Eva% * (Par%*(1+Reduction%) * (Block%*(1+Average_Reduction%))
part.

^ This is the correct answer.

Thanks for the post Uzor.

I chop people

Who's working out the formula for /chop damage calculations????

lolz

It's almost time!!! /excited

So are you guys rolling on Siel for sure? I don't think we're going to roll on that server. Want to avoid the mass e-peen.

If you mean the damage formula, that's me and 3-4 other guys, based on the field observations 3 French guys did during the closed beta <.<;

I'm not convinced Siel is going to be the best competition like people seem to think it will be. Most populated, maybe, but not the best competition.

I don't think we'll end up on Siel either.

We should coordinate. That way we can be mortal enemies!! <3

...and party on Friday nights!

Just name a server, you guys are the only people I know who are going to be playing. Be nice to be on a server where I don't need to look blindly for some non idiots.

Everyone name a server. Is anyone playing Elyos? Everyone going to to Asmodian?

Hehe, I think the majority are rolling Elyos. :)
