Aion- discuss

So, how about I join someone's legion.

Also, things I don't like:

Loot sniping - it can be done with quest-sensitive items? wtf.
As with all MMOs, there are already know-it-alls ingame, where I shit you not, I got this series of tells today as I sat my happy ass down to sell some items I'd picked up.

<Otherguy> rofl, good luck selling stuff here.
<Otherguy> kinda sad, actually.
<Me> uh, ok. It's not like we're in a beta or anything there, hoss.

I mean, it was like playing FFXI all over again for about 5 seconds.

Well, tbh, most things are best to sell through the broker anyway :P

There's some exceptions, its quite good to sell quest items way overpriced right next to the quest NPC.

Speaking of selling, I'm fairly surprised to see so many people sitting around towns trying to sell stuff. I mean, they're gonna get deleted, very soon lol

Why? It gets a good indication of how trends might go ahead after go-live, and of what needs to be changed. It's a beta test; they expect everything to be tested.

Karnif bites can be nasty! Don't go naked! Armor for sale.

Gee, I wish I'd have had the forethought to do....oh wait, I've been doing that since I started picking Angelica for Nobekk, lol.

There are definitely a lot more of those irritating-as-fuck WoW kids in Aion than I'm used to. Coming from Vanguard I really don't have much patience for some of the shit that goes on in shout/say/etc.

Thankfully I can stick to playing with guildmates and I don't have to deal with any whiney fucks 99% of the time.

I was seriously having a good time right up until I heard the words "kinda sad actually" and having a spawned quest item (Kill a wolf, spawn the quest item) get ganked out from under me after nearly killing my mage-ass trying to spawn it.

I realize NCSoft can't do anything about rudeness or laziness, but it does kinda turn one off a little lol.

I know that wolf! The same thing happened to me, I was beaten within an inch of my life, blew a potion to kill it and someone stole the stupid box!

I'm pretty much done playing the beta now. I got to lvl 20 through all that and it got pretty fun, I'm really excited for the pvp aspect now.

Oh, look what I found today.

Of course I had to pose there too.

It was fun, did the quest that warps you to an Elyos area. I roamed around a bit before deciding to see what It'd be like to fight some of the white winged ones. And I kicked some ass.

That gladiator was the first to fall to my blade. Then I killed another Elyos not sure what class they were but they were easy as pie. By this time, the jig was up and the Elyos were alerted to my presence but they hadn't quite yet started the patrol for me. I saw one lone Elyos near a waterfall, perfect I thought, so I snuck up behind her and started the attack. Unfortunately for me.. it turned out to be a cleric and god damn I could do as much damage as my heart wished but she just kept healing herself and keeping me at bay and then she got backup. I had to run and run I did, rather successfully. I learned to really love my hide ability. But eventually they sent out 6-8 people to scout around the area for me and soon it was too hard to hide or run. So I turned to fight, but I just can't handle more than one at a time and I finally fell and returned to Asmodae.

But I had a hell of a fun time. Earned almost 300 abyss points without even being in the abyss. XD

All in all, I enjoyed this last day of the closed beta. I may not play again until the 2-day head start, but then again, maybe I'll try something else out if they have an open beta.

Trist there's multiple ways around this. I honestly have never had that happen to me. But then If I have a problem with there being too many people around, that's when I just change channel to usually 7 or something near the end of the list. It's usually less populated and I don't have to worry about someone coming in and doing stuff like that.

LOL I said something to Stine about it, likening it to the FFXI Ranger job flag quest, where you have to watch the tiger die without killing it. Imagine (like happened to me, Stine did it for the lulz) someone offing the tiger lol.

Seriously, it just sounds like too much work for such an easy fix haha.

My thoughts after this beta weekend:

I got to lv10 and became a Sorcerer; was fun.
Travel was fairly easy.
The quests were decently easy to figure out, and sometimes way too easy - locating an NPC by clicking on their name is neat, but kinda "eh".
Combat was fun, and very magey. Just what I expected.
The bazaar system (personal stores) was great - this is what it should be like in every MMO.

All-in-all, I enjoyed it. Probably not enough to actually front a monthly fee since I'm so spoiled by Guild Wars and am madly anticipating GW2's beta, but that's a me-thing, not an NCSoft thing.

I cancelled my pre-order already, but then I got bored and decided to fart around while I still could.

Holy crap Asmodean assassin is so fun. I still doubt I'll be picking up any MMO in the near future though. It's a shame too, I had the best haircut!

I decided NOT to play the CBT6 since I wanted to focus on crafting and other timely efforts. I'm currently playing in the Chinese Retail 1.2 version as a level 23 Cleric and havin a blast. I hardly experience any lag in this version (actually experienced more lag in the NA CBT) so I'm a happy camper so far.\

P.S. Useful information: When putting stuff in your Warehouse, you'll notice a subsection called Account Warehouse (16 slots). This Account Warehouse is the storage space available to you where in you can stash gear/items to be SHARED by all the characters made on your NCsoft account. ;)

Yeah, it's a great feature that I loved when added to EverQuest that I was sad never made it to any other MMO until now. Though in EQ, it was limited to characters on the server.

Guild Wars characters can share all storage by default, and always have been able to lol.

Can I still try the beta or is it to late?

Closed Beta Test 6 is over and all those chars will be deleted :( . Open Beta will be starting soon though. You could also try the Chinese Retail version with the English Language Pack via these instructions:

http://www.aionsource.com/forum/general-guides/18026-complete-cn-aion-getting-started-guide.html

You'll get about 8 hours of free play time before you'd have to purchase more playtime. 95 hours of playtime = $7.25 USD.
