Well, it was the first day. I'll guess there won't even be as long a queue today.

I posted this in general FFXI discussion, but its more fitting here really:

The issue is something known as the "Nagle Algorithm". This algorithm was created years ago as a way of
allowing a steady stream of data to use low bandwidth. It was designed
for older dial up modems to prevent online games and other things
sending large numbers of small packets from filling up your entire
bandwidth sending "ACK Packets". What this does is automatically delay
your computer from responding to a single packet by 200ms which allows
your computer to respond to multiple packets at once using less
bandwidth. What this essentially does, is add up to 200ms to your lag.

1. Run Regedit
2. Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameter s\Interfaces\
3. It gets tricky here, there be a bunch of Folders with letters and
numbers under this Key, you need to find the one that is your network
adapter. Browse them one at a time and look for the ones with similar
settings to your network, such as if you have an IP address or a
Gateway manually set. If you are unsure, you could always just try
adding the line to all of them.
4. Add a DWORD named TcpAckFrequency This is Case Sensitive. If
it is already there, skip to step 5.
5. Set the Value of the DWORD to 1
6. Reboot your PC

This works for all MMO's.

A word of warning, however, is that certain programs and other network usages work better with it on, such as file transfering programs. I take no responsibility for anything that happens with your computer if you decide to try it.

People report their ping dropping from 600 to 150 max using this.
 
i had a 2 hour 55 min queue last night, i gave up.
 
The game's out today, as in you can go pick up your CE or RE at whatever retailer you pre-ordered it.

If there are any oddballs that didn't pre-order the game, you won't be able to play until the service goes live tomorrow.

Those of us smart people that have access to the 2-day headstart can still keep on playing.

I picked up my Collectors Edition and I gotta say the 6" figure of Avia is probably one of the best CE figures I've seen. It's very detailed plus she gets kudo's for being a kick ass Asmodian Gladiator. As a side note, anyone who hasn't read the comic book yet. Do it! It's completely brutal and awesome. I love how it makes the Elyos out to be the villains. XD So perfect. Ask your retailer if they have it since it's free with pre-orders.

In the manual there's a code for Guild Wars giving you an Aion /wings emote, the emote is just like the Aion /wings emote and the wings are Asmodian black/purple wings. So.. uh, I guess the Guild Wars people can feel like they're playing Aion if they want to. >_>;

I would say give the servers at least one week to straighten out. I am sure everything will be okay.

I just really really hope they lift race cap for Zikel sometime soon
 
so I just finished my acension quest not too long ago and am now a lvl 10 elyos templar =)

I've gotta say I fuckin love this game, totally trumps FFXI
 
I had an initial queue of like 3hrs and 20 minutes. It only actually took about 1hr and 50 minutes before I got on.

Made my characters on the Zikel server and thankfully the names I wanted weren't taken already.

I'll actually play more once my new pc is up and running.
 
I am 2 exp blocks away from 18.

Wanted to focus more on making the monies, gathering and crafting since due to crazy que times and race caps, a few of our members have been unable to level. Did not want to get too far ahead of my friends :)

Looks like I might be seeing ya in the near future, Ana!

Yeah those bastards! Oh yeah. My new PC is working awesomely. I love being able to have all the settings on high and have no slowdown at all. <3

Reya, is your legion still recruiting at all? I may pick up the game in the next week or so and it'll get super boring running around by myself all the time.
 
Sorry to double-post but does anyone know what happens to the people that canceled their pre-order? Canceling meant your account got banned, so if I change my mind and buy the game now will they just ban the new account anyway? I really don't want to end up wasting money like that.
