Does anyone play either of these? I've played airsoft and own a few, but I haven't done paintball yet. It's really fun to mess around with friends and do pick up games, and when I have enough money I'll probally be getting more involved but for now its a good hobby.

For anyone who doesn't know what airsoft is:

that's what i've heard/known about paintball. if you don't plan on getting serious for a while, just get some not-so top-of-the-line guns and play around. find some woods or whatever (make sure you aren't gonna get arrested xD) my bro and i used to play in our backyard, and once went to an actual place for it. they had 4 courses and it was cool.

funny story, the day we went to the paintball place, we were on our third or fourth game, and i was out, my brother was teh only one left on our team. and he got hit.... in the nipple

he said it was sore for like 3 weeks xD 300 fps = epic win...

I used to play way back when. Bought a Pirahnna with back feed tube for the tank. Used to clean it every time I played with Q-Tips lol.

Theres a huge 1500+ tourney going on in Ontario for anyone who lives here / lives close enough to commute.

I can post the info if people request.

Tippman makes Excellent guns for paintball, and they aren't too bad on the wallet. Avoid the cheap plastic Walmart knockoffs, they'll break after only a few uses and you'll break almost all your paint balls in the barrel before they leave the gun.

Paintball rules.

Tippmann is pretty much the AK-47 of paintball guns. Not especially sophisticated or accurate, but reliable as all hell. I've got a fairly heavily modded 68 Carbine from them that's held up under field conditions that would do the US Army proud.

Which reminds me, I need to get that damn gauge and get my gun running again, I wanna play... o_o;

If you've got more money to burn, of course, the options are considerable. Worr Game Products and Airgun Designs make some pretty spiffy mechanical markers, though if you're going to go in for WGP, you might as well go with Palmers Pursuit Shop and get your marker from the guy who actually designed that particular action.

Electronic markers are less my area of specialty, since they always felt like cheating to me...

Me and a few of my friends go out to Wisconsin to play some paintball just about every other weekend. We got this sweet spot thats a wooded hill on one side of this road, so its good for attack and defend. But theres also a ton of woods on the other side of the road (its a grassed over old dirt road, people dont drive on it lol) so its perfect for like capture the flag and stuff too. Its a blast, we go from like 11AM-6PM. The last time kinda sucked because it was SO fucking humid and every game our masks would fog up like no other. So that kinda sucked. The only real problem i have with paintball is that in can hurt sometimes (i got shot in the same spot on my inner thigh about 4 times one time we went, not fun) and that its pretty damn expensive. CO2 is cheap, but paint is not. Cost me 42 bucks last time we went for paint and gas, i still got like half my paint left though. And it would have been another 20 bucks if we had gone to an actually paintball place. So thats the only thing I like about airsoft more, buy an electric gun, no need for big masks and BBs are cheap as hell too. Unfortunately none of my friends are into airsoft so paintball it is for now.

paint ball is shit tons of fun, but you need to have a good source of income to fund it, unless you can manage to go pro or get sponsored... i used to play with a pro team in Rochester NY on there open game nights, the youth team they had would practice by playing fucking tag during our games.... and the Pro guys.. GL getting them out :(

I was just looking around at airsoft guns :P I really want a sniper rifle lol...

I'm curious though.. what's the difference that justifies the price difference with these two guns...

And I'd love to play more paintball but most around here don't :( makes me sad... and I don't know of any paintball sniper rifles XD

edit: as for which is better.. hmm.. I dunno.. for gun appearance Airsoft, but for real fun... I dunno.. I find paintball more enjoyable (mostly cause it actually stings a lot when you get hit with a paintball XD)

I'm not sure about the other paintball gun manufacturers, but you can buy a Tippman Custom and retrofit it with an extra long barrel, laser scope, and turn the pressure up a bit to emulate a sniper gun. It's useless in speedball, which is what a generous amount of paintball is, but for scenario games it works wonderfully. That's the gun I used when we played in the 48 hour tourneys on Ogden Island in New York waaaaay back when.

Make your mark, lol Paintball fun...

Seriously to the guys who play Airsoft. Where is the fun? If you want to act like army men, join the army...

See the difference though, is that you can DIE in the army or get extremely FUCKED UP... not so much in airsoft.

So, Airsoft is for the people who want to be in the army, yet not in the hard part? I still don't get it. Paintball is a lot more fun. I love being i pelt a mother fucker in the mask. BOOOOM Headshot.

Both are fun but airsoft is a lot cheaper which is why I play that more. Plus the people I used to play paintball with don't play anymore.
