Been looking forward to this game since it was announced.

Recently released tech trailer, looks impressive.

They have a couple short films on xbox live also - the "prequel" to Alan Wake. And they're actually pretty damn spooky, props to the producer/s.

Two Reviews:

1) GamesRadar - http://www.gamesradar.com/xbox360/a...-2010050417172985063/g-2005138888000000020702

2) Gametrailers - http://www.gametrailers.com/video/review-alan-wake/65249

amuses me how Gamesradar and GameTrailers both think a bit differently on Alan Wake. Gamesradar finds all the characters memorable and loveable where as GameTrailers finds them poorly written and, most of the time, dragging the story down.

It'll be interesting to eventually see for myself. I'll have to rent it and bring it to a friend's house :P

the review at x360a has me riveted. That site has yet to be wrong on a review for me, if they like it, i end up liking it, if they hated it, ill probly hate it. they seem to have the same tastes as me and they are praising alan wake and just about every element of it, only issue they had with it was...the lip sync sucks.

There is a reason why x360a have such good reviews for us -gamers-, it's because they are gamers, to the core, as well. Those chuts over at IGN or GT have a job; play a game as quickly as possible, use big words that even a high class newspaper would reject, and move on to the next game. It makes sense though since the x360a site is entirely made upon gettin' the most out of your game. Anyway, that's the only site I ever even slightly consider an opinion on before a purchase, if necessary.

As for the game, it looks cool. I hope it's good, real good, Silent Hill 1 good, but I'm skeptical. Definitely not a game I'll be buying, but you can bet your fanny I'll be renting it eventually.

Got my hands on it last night.. I read somewhere that the first half of the game drags, and the second half explodes into action. I'm only bout an hour/hour and a half in and personally I think it's pretty spooky indeed. It's a bit slow, but I'm OK with that since it's very atmospheric if that's a word and playing in the dark is totally creepy. So far so good :) I like the flashlight element too, gotta shine your light on the enemies to burn away their cover before your weapons do any damage, that's a new concept to me but it works.

Oh a negative for me though - dodging is really sketchy, half the time it doesn't work right and you get hit regardless if you dodge or not.

I'm a PS3 guy with this game is yet another reason why I need a 360. I'll be renting it when I do get it.

Beat it a couple nights ago, def. a rental - just too short to be a worthwhile purchase :( But it's worth a playthrough if you own a 360 unless you don't like spooky poltergeists.

Whaaatt!? a rent?! I am absolutely in love with this game. This game is just too fucking amazing.
The story is probly one of if not the best stories in a game i have played to date, its like being in a stephen king book.
The episodic installments just make it feel awesome, And not to mention it holds one of the greatest moments in gaming for me in episode 4, i wont spoil it for those who havent played it yet, but i will say "Children of the gods". That moment was just fucking epic, followed by the scene with barry and alan drinking the shine, that was classic. So many jaw dropping twists along the way that i cannot stop playing it. It just gets better and better.
This game was worth the wait, it lived up to the hype for me, and even more than i expected.
besides, buying it is the only way you can get the first DLC for free and get the other ending/true more understandable ending or whatever it is they were talking about.
Remedy has created what i feel is what shoulda been what the past few silent hills should of been like, as a huge silent hill fan, this one takes the cake.
now just to find out where i can get "lady of the light" as a ring tone...

Really cant wait for it, will be picking it up on thursday!

I mean.. it's a really good game don't get me wrong, but like a story after it ends I just wanna put it up on the bookcase and do somethin else lol. I just ordered the fallout 3 GOTY strategy guide, that's the kinda game I'd recommend a buy cause it just keeps goooooing.

edit* Alan Wake 2 is only gonna be released if sales for Alan Wake are up to par so go out and buy it anyways!

Soooo it's Luigi's Mansion with out Luigi or the vacuum.

Been playing it since Thursday, loving it so far. On my nightmare playthrough, pretty hard but loving the story. Definitly one of my favourite games to date.
