its such sad seeing the news here in arabs areas , guess 2009 is not going to be better then last years >_>

more arabs are now supporting Hamas due to Israels attacks

at the time death toll 300 most of them Hamas militants , sadly the arabs news didnt say that .. they just said 300 Palestinian were killed

Not our fight who cares... I cant wait for the day when the US has a president willing to stand up to AIPAC (wont happen btw) and tell them to start their own fights not ones they want us to step in and finish.

I find it ironic that Arab states are condemning Israel for the offensive, yet when Israeli towns are pummeled by rockets they turn the other way.

Other than selling arms to the Israelis what has the US done in the Arab-Israeli conflict?

sent aid, sold weapons, shared technology and promised to intervene if they were invaded.

So your point is that the US is letting Israel pick a fight between us and Russia?

This is what I've been fuming over all day. It's alright for Hamas to launch missiles at schools and buses, right? But they manufacture and launch missiles from densely populated civilian cities, and the world freaks out at Israel. At least they're trying to minimize the amount of civilians getting hurt and killed... But does it not occur to these people that if they kicked out the organizations then Israel wouldn't drop bombs on them?

i know Hamas in problem , but the civilian of gaza are powerless , they are low on food , most of the hospital have no doctor or low on supplies and if anyone is found with firearm then they just arrest them , they also cant leave the gaza strip since both Egypt ad Hamas sent them back in , if Hamas can live after this then its going to be another politically victoriou to them

I sympathize that there are innocent civilians in these areas, but Israel really has absolutely no choice at this point. It's easy for whiny idiots at the Huffington post and the general liberal sphere to focus on the civilians that are dying, but the reality of the situation is that if was their towns getting pelted with rockets they'd want their military to respond as well. The civilian deaths are Hamas' fault, both for embedding their structures into populated areas and for provoking military response. I'm not sure at this point if they are just completely indifferent to civilian deaths on their own soil, or they are trying to encourage it as a play for sympathy. Either way, generally the people who are being so critical have one thing in common, dangerously low IQ.

This is what happens when you elect a terrorist organization as your government and stand by watching as they launch three hundred or so rockets across the border.

Israel has openly stated that they will continue the attacks until they destroy the rocket stockpile. So... the answer is not to swear vengeance with more suicide bombings (like Hamas did yesterday), but rather to GET RID OF THE FUCKING ROCKETS AND STOP LAUNCHING THEM INTO ISRAEL.

What really pisses me off is that the average Israeli does not care about keeping the West Bank and Gaza. I've been there. I've talked to them. Yes, it is the Holy Land, and yes, there are things there that call out to the soul of any Jew, but starting in '96 or so, most Israelis were willing to part with their settlements in exchange for a real peace. The problem is that Arafat spat in the face of both Israel and America when he rejected Clinton's plan, which would have given him 98% of what he asked for. Even now, most Israelis want an autonomous Palestinian state, but *only* when they are convinced that there will be no more threat of violence.

Electing Hamas was the *worst* thing the Palestinians could have done to themselves. So long as people keep blowing themselves up in Israeli cafes and buses, Palestinians will not have the freedom they have so long desired. Abbas and the PLO remnants post Arafat *could* have gotten this done, had they had the popular backing of the people... but they got behind Hamas instead.

To those that condemn Israel's actions: imagine if Mexican immigrants claimed Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, and southern California as their own independent region and killed hundreds of Americans EACH WEEK in terrorist attacks to help their cause. Proportionally speaking, in terms of land and population, this is what Israel has been dealing with since '67.

If we were in that situation, not a single damned one of you wouldn't be for mobilizing the military and stomping some serious insurgent ass.

While i agree that if I was in Israel I would be all for a fight my question remains what does it matter to the common US citizen that we continue to be Allies with them. Also i do have problems with the way that the country of Israel gained its independence as well and I understand the problem that the Palestinian's have with the whole situation.

If the US was invaded by Mexico then hell yes it is our problem and we would get involved but it is not our place to chose a side in every conflict and be the police of the world.

Hamas wasn't elected, as far as I can remember, they took over Gaza from Abbas. The fact that Hamas can't even control the break away multitude of Palestinian militant groups is pathetic. Israel has every right to defend itself from attacks. Why do you think Israel is only dealing with Fatah in the West Bank? Because at least they will COMPROMISE on a settlement agreement where Palestinians and Israelis can live side by side.

I won't dispute that the citizens in Gaza are suffering due to power issues, lack of medical supplies, and other basic necessities Dayner, but you have to look more at Hamas as being more responsible for this burden. If there was a long lasting peace agreement between Israel and Hamas, Israel would not relent on the blockade imposed on Gaza? I'm sure they will be more than happy to oblige. If you are a head of state and right next door to you is a hostile government that wants to see your sovereign nation DESTROYED, why would you make life easier for them?

Militants are firing the rockets into civilian settlements from THEIR OWN civilian settlements. The militants are fully aware that Israel will have to fire at those positions to knock them out and that civilian casualties are in essence collateral. Don't try to tell me that Israel enjoys killing Palestinian civilians just for the sake of killing them. I think Arabs have to LOOK at this habitual action and CONDEMN that more than Israel.

Members from Hamas were elected into the government.

But this is going to end no differently than the fight with Hezbollah. Israel wants to limit their death toll, and will try to win this through air power alone for the most part, and they are going to have one bad miss like last time, and all you're going to see 24/7 is children being drug out of rubble.

The one thing that no one ever gets is that when a lot of civilians die all you really do is create more terrorists than you're killing. The fact that they even elected Hamas into partial power says everything that needs to be said.

This is and always will be a never ending conflict. I always wonder what people were thinking when they removed a group of people from their land and replaced them with a country that all their neighbors hate. What did they think was going to happen, honestly? This was the only way it could have turned out.

Are you saying that land doesn't belong to the Jews? It's name is Israel for a reason, which derives "From the Land of Israel" or was what was known as the "Kingdom of Judah". Its' named after them for heavens sake lol. It's a Jewish state and has been for 1000's of years. Actually, it was partially given back to the Jews after WWI but of course they felt it ALL belonged to them because it has for 1000's of years and expanded their border to what it was back in BCE era. Actually throughout history, Jews have been removed from there land first. The Romans, Ottomans, Christians, Muslims, have all removed the Jews from there land, but in the end, the Jews always get it back, which if you believe in God and the Bible at all, it does lend a little credence I guess.

Of course the State of Israel claims that land is theirs by right given by God. Believe that or not it doesn't matter, Israel and the religion of Judism was around before Islam. It's been a holy war for 3000 years.

I guess we should give USA and Canada Back to the Mexican citizens because their ancestors lived here years ago. There's way too many nazi's in this thread so i will just post one respond and i will not be posting anything else. No point talking to a wall.

You get to see Israeli's shooting randomly into Gaza all year long. Which i think is very similar to rockets that Hammas fired. Yet it's being said that Hammas broke the truce.
I don't see why they bombarded the area with more shit, when they already knew up in those helicopters that the main terrorist dude was dead, and there were people standing by watching the show. To me it just feels like they don't give a shit about civilians. And it wasn't from a fighter jet, view was much clear and it were helicopters.
Congratulations. You just killed one terrorist and created like 40. Might as well kill them all because now these terrorists will kill more innocent people. The chain reaction will continue. Obviously the policy makers don't have to deal with shit while innocent people die.

Take this course: Evolution for everyone. It shows you how evolution and natural selection works when it comes to human affairs, and what the whole "Dehumanization" thing means. Before people go to war, they often try to dehumanize the other party, so people do not feel bad for the human loss and treat it as if nothing happened. Israel definitely has a very strong hand in american media and palestine well, none. It does not mean that one side is right or wrong, it's just a way of explaining to yourself, is if why things happen and why humans kill each other. Since palestine is weak, i guess it is their fate to live under bullets and be bombed while being governed by ideologists who do not have any positive effect towards the goodwill of the palestineans in the end. This effect can be observed in the famous Evolution experiment conducted on hens. An area that is in trumoil and instability will always have violence, bombing these areas can never improve the situation unless every single individual is killed.

I am personally just about ready to change my name, so my grades in school, oppertunities to get jobs and offers doesn't decrease due to the religion i practice. I mean i believe in doing good things, treating others the way you want to be treated and being humane, but i am not ready to suffer just because of this faith. I believe i can do the same thing without being entitled to a particular religion or last name.

As a science student however, who attended a jewish school and currently lives in a jewish neighbourhood. I can't help but notice that history is repeating itself. Hell i was even given my recommendation letter from my History teacher. Sometimes i feel i want to write to him but other times i feel that he already knows. Just like back in the day how Nazis said "Jews are being punished for their own acts. Eventhough they are powerless and defenseless now, they are slowly poisoning our wells and spreading disease and poverty through out germany. They are the reason why Germany isn't becoming prosperous". They also used cartoons just like the ones who you see on offtopic.
These pictures and those statements helped convince millions of Germans, to let a mere few thousand kill 5 million innocent jews. Yet after reading so many text books, taking so many classes and spending so much on public educaiton and how people should learn to tolerate, it seems that in the end people just don't care about human life.

To these people they are not humans or palestineans, to them they are Big nosed bearded Arab terrorists who hide behind babies, women and childeren in order to kill people. To them these people are nothing but animals who live in shithole countries and have hairy ugly women. This is very similar to an example given by David Wilson in his book. "Irish protestants are firm believers in the fact that they can identify Irish Catholics by their cloesly spaced eyes. Yet, the other side believes the same. Truth is however, that both claims can easily be proven false by a pair of clipers". Anyways, read the book Evolution for everyone by David Wilson, it really opens up your way of thinking. This war is nothing but a way to settle scores. Peace is never spread by war. The hamas were wrong to fire rockets in response to gun fire, yet at the same time they would not have been elected if the region was stable and didn't have walls around it. When was the last time you read about journalists and palestineans being killed by gun fire in Gaza all year long on Fox news? never that's right.
I have nothing against jews and my best friends are jewish. At one point i was convinced to convert to it too. But i am also very aware that the media and our policy making strong supports israel due to their high representation in the government. I guess they worked hard for those jobs and earned them, just like african americans in current day sports. So it is only fair that they are able to influence policy making and which side we support, as Americans.
