Didn't bother watching the others, but the Mario 3 one isn't right. He save states a lot, and even loads(you'll notice it on 8-1, the obvious one) Hell, the SM64 one even blatantly says it's tool assisted.

Voids a speed run, in my opinion.

Figured I was the only one with such standards. All my friend just accept it for what it looks like. Figured everyone else would too.

Then there was :bb: Skaw :bb: and his "standards of excellence".

Tool-Assisted Speedruns are not considered the same thing as normal speedruns - http://bisqwit.iki.fi/nesvideos/WhyAndHow.html

* Interesting (not slow, boring, or repetitive)
* Surprising (does the unexpected)
* Skillful (handles awkward situations efficiently and creatively)
Note: This does not refer to playing skill.

Even says so on the TAS hub site.

TAS's main intention is to be visually impressive in some way or another.

By far my favorite Mario Bros. thing to date: http://newgrounds.com/portal/view/20935 (beware popups like crazy on Newgrounds at times)

"I would say to them... "you want ice cream cone? both of them say yes"" XD
