Allergies

booboo will you babysit my cats for me while elph and i go back to NOLA for Mardi Gras? :P

Sure thing!! Just have someone to babysit after day 2! Because I'll have died by then;)

That's funny, because it was Tide Clean Breeze that set off my allergies, lol. No more silly scented crap for me anymore!

That wasn't the stuff I picked out when I went to the store with you was it? If so I feel horrible lol..

Being a fair-skinned person (mixed races) with very sensitive skin, I have VERY nasty reactions to things and all of my reactions are big red blotchy things that will show up anywhere (face, arms, and hands usually). I buy additive-free laundry detergent because anything else gives me really itchy hives. Because I also have bad nerves, they spread like crazy when I see them because I freak out. The backs of my hands get covered in a bunch of little red bumps that I can't stop scratching. I've had to leave work early because the itching bugged me so much that I was getting close to a panic attack. The only medication allergy I have that I know of is phenergan and that was given to me via IV and caused a rash that proceeded to cover my entire arm. The promethazine they gave me after got rid of it, but it was definitely no fun.

My mother and sister have really strange food allergies, mostly to fruits and nuts. My sister gets all bloaty and has this constant feeling like there's something in her eye, but my mother itches and gets a horrible sinus thing going. My sister did the allergen test and she's also allergic to everything she tested for on top of having severe Asthma. My allergies didn't even start until I was about 18 or 19, but it was obviously bound to happen with the genes my mother passed to us.

I have really bad contact dermatitis, my skin breaks out in a rash when I'm exposed to nickel or anything with nickel in it. I have to be very careful with jewelry and snaps on clothing or belts, because even through a layer of clothes I'll get a reaction.

I had a really bad reaction to some deodorant once that had Nickel in it and had a rash all under my arms that spread down my sides and had to get a Cortisone shot and a gel-cream medication that gets rid of the rash.

The funny thing is that I'm allergic to the keypad on my phone, so I break out a little on the side of my face where the phone touches.

Washing everything twice over with new detergent has helped. Sucks I have to toss an entire container of detergent, though. Hopefully that's the end of this scare for now until I come across the next thing I'm insanely allergic to, lol.

No matter how much of a pain in the ass it is, stick out the allergy shots. It may take a long time to titrate up to any significant dose, but once you do it makes a world of difference. I got the shots for 8 years starting when I was 10; 5 shots a week. I was getting shots for grass, ragweed, cats, dust, and mold. It's been over a decade now since I stopped the shots and I haven't had any issues. Hell, when I was 10 they were afraid we'd have to get rid of the family cats, nowadays I have 3, the cuddliest of which is my longhair Maine Coon bastard. The only allergy attack I've had in recent memory was a mold reaction when I crawled under my hedges in the spring to sweep out all the leaves accumulated over the winter.

Sofia and Juliana both have allergies too, but we haven't had them tested yet. Juli's in better shape, a 5mg zyrtec nightly keeps it under control. Sofia is definitely going to have to get further treatment though, even after her zyrtec she's always got a lot of sinus congestion, snores like crazy, and recently even tested below average in her hearing because of reduced motility in the eardrums from the congestion. :( I was hoping to put it off because I know how brutal the allergy testing is, but I don't know how much longer I can wait.

Ouch, the test sucked enough for me so I can only imagine how it would go for a little girl. :( You have my sympathy Fellina. I hope everything works out for her, she's a little cutie. And yeah, I'm just gonna stick to the shots and the meds and hope my body eventually builds up a tolerance.

I can't relate to the skin portion of your issue, but I can relate to having allergie issues in general. I have to be really careful around my girlfriend's cat, or I get extremely asthmatic. My dog, Buddy use to trigger it too, until one day his fur just stopped causing problems. I don't have to get shots, but I have to suck down anti-hystamine pills regularly, and keep an inhaler nearby. Hope your condition betters.

I gag on musturd. That's as far as I go for relating.

same here only its pineapple for me.

I've never been allergic to anything that i know of, i even became immune to poison ivy and poison oak when i was a kid.
