Alright...do unoriginal names irk you...?

On to the core of the subject, I've once seen a guy named Aryanbreed in Bastok.

Keep in mind that Farys IS from France, so this name could really strike home as offensive to him... I never knew about that name.

I saw a Taru the other day named BigJerk lol - had to hug him :)

The names I hate are the TOTALLY unoriginal ones like "Chris" or "Ed" Break away from reality folks!!! It is a fantasy game - let loose!!!

I also hate the ones that are totally dirty - I mean, granted, I have a naughy mouth at times (which my LS can vouge for lol - love being the only girl) but to run around with a name like "blowme" or whatever is just sooooo - 3rd grade. *sigh* kids these days ;)

Yesterday in Valkurm, I was in a party who ended up camping next to another party with three stupid names all in one place!

Lickmine
Imdrunk
Lobsterbutt

...

Griddlecake is in my LS ^^

I just get annoyed by the Final Fantasy names really. Those bother me.

A while ago I ran into a Japanese player who's name was "Jerk". Me and a mithra friend of mine started talking to him and he wanted to know what his name meant in English! So we tried to tell him (It took awhile, his English and my Japanese are somewhat limited) and when we did he was like:
/cry
"I'm not a Jerk!"

We told him that in America if you call yourself a jerk then your just being sarcastic and it's ok. He felt better after that. ^^

I've noticed the Japanese players have weird names like "Moon" "Eat" "Happy" and such... but I wouldn't put it past American players to have
"Tsuki" "Taberu" or "Shaiwase" as there names either. (Which mean "Moon", "to Eat" and "Happy" in Japanese respectively)

^^

lol, maybe they dont know what Eat, Work, and stuff mean, just think they sound cool..i guess...
I saw a NIN named Night, he was like lvl 73...he was really cool, a Sea Horror popped up, and he stopped his fishing and killed it, he was like blade: ku, hit, hit, hit, blade: ku...thats what really made me become a dedicated ninja...

I think the worst name I've seen so far was "TidusSquall"

-_-;

Dalecooper is not a standard name like Ed or Bill any more that Tyler Durden or James Bond would be.
Dale Cooper was the name of the main character from the TV Show, and subsequent movie, Twin Peaks. Surreal to say the least.
If you DO believe that names like Jamesbond or Tylerdurden Or Michaelknight, all references to fictional characters, ARE "standard names", ok then. That's legitimate. Not all names are as "normal" as they appear to be. Many are references.
And I couldn't blame anyone for not picking up the reference. Since playing, only 5 people have caught my name's reference. I used the same name in SOCOM, and only 1 person caught it.

And come to think of it, Wouldn't Michaelknight be a badass name? Knight Rider! Child of the 80's...
