LOL A 2.7 a good GPA? Yeah, good luck with that. College degrees of the 21st century are the high diplomas of the 1970s. Not to mention there are literally hundreds of thousands of job-seekers and degree holders in both her degree fields. Four years of college and it seems like she didn't learn much of any practical knowledge.

Uh... my average in University was 4.0. I have a degree. I have not found a job in my area. OMG I SUEZ YOU STOOPID SKOOL. Seriously, where does this bitch get off? Get the fuck over yourself, there is a recession.

The world doesn't have any obligation to help her.

True, but a lot of colleges and universities advertise "job placement assistance" to make themselves more marketable. So yes, the lawsuit seems pretty frivolous, but maybe she can take the "false advertising" angle as well. I somewhat see her point, but as Mirewen stated, we're in a recession, maybe she shouldn't have depended so much on the school.

Then she should go back to school for some common sense classes. She needs to realize that "job placement assistance" does not guarantee job placement. It means that the college will try and help her get a job, but can't (/shouldn't) be held responsible if she doesn't get one. This crazy woman probably doesn't realize that lots of employers look at more than just what type of degree a person has. They also look to see if they have any experience in the job they are applying for. If she doesn't have the experience, or meet all of the minimum qualifications that a job is requiring, her application/resume will be discarded.

Right Lucki, but just how much "assistance" is "enough" and how much would be "too much"? Think thats the main thing that is going to get argued here. Whats gonna suck is if she DID meet the criteria required by those places, but still didn't get even a call back, then maybe the school WASN'T helping the way they should have no?

But she's also suing for "stress". That secret code word is legalise for "bullshit". "Airquotes".

True, but so is pain and suffering LOL and yet theyre both acceptable things to sue for. At least shes only asking for $2k LOL, she could be like others and be suing for a ridiculous amount. Still bullshit though, gotta give you that.

Without knowing what the school's guidelines for assistance, I'm not going to comment on that. As for her potentially not getting a call back from employers if she may have met the minimum qualifications, that's not the schools problem. There could be a number of reasons why she wasn't hired. The company could just be collecting resumes, a more qualified person was offered and excepted the job, (depending on her race) some EOE bullshit could be the cause of it, or something else. Any and all of those possibilities could be factors, and none of them are the schools fault.

ZERO assistance, that's how much is enough. It's called the real world and if you can't man up and get your own shit done and handle your own affairs then you don't deserve a job. I used to love the people in my classes (mostly fraternity guys/sorority girls) who would have conversations that I could overhear about graduating soon and having to get their first job....Awww boo hoo!!! Welcome to the real world. This girl may or may not be one of the above types of people, but at some point in your life you have to stop expecting people to do things for you and learn to stand or fall on your own.

So the consensus so far is shes pretty much whining because the school didnt hold her hand when it came to finding a job? Hmm, wonder now what's gonna happen. Anyone disagree with this?

What did the school promise in writing and what did it do? It's hard to take sides without knowing, but my gut tells me this is a frivolous suit.

I found it funny right after graduation getting repeated calls asking for donations before I even got a job. I had to actually set my school's emails to get redirected into spam because they email me like every freaking day trying to get money.

Yea, I get that too Fire. "As an Alumni, it is your responsibility to........" Uh, I gave you money while I was attending for books that you only paid me back 20% for 3 months of use, then turned around and sold them again at 80% value. I also paid a buttload for classes. Why do I have a responsibility to give more? lol.

I'm thinking thats one of the things that is being debated in that trial, and that will be a point of contention for both parties.

Yeah i agree fire, damn school CONSTANTLY jacked up the price of tuition and parking passes, and yet asks us "alumni" to still donate more money. FUCK YOU! You took enough of my money, go take someone else's.

I think either way, this case is going to have negative repercussions for future college students, similar to the way the McDonalds' coffee case caused industrywide changes with big, bold warnings insulting our intelligence on every beverage above room temperature. If anything, there'll be changes to marketing and some legal contracts to sign before admission.

If she makes a penny off this i will be ashamed on our judicial system.

The only thing that this suit should do is to make it so that this person wont get a job because they will be seen as a liability.
