Holy shit, congrats man! ^_^ All-star cast backing you up there too!

Grats :p

Now have fun getting the 300+mil for the aegis!

Got materials for first two upgrades now... it'll be a long haul for the relic, but I'm up to the challenge.

Congrats again Celv

Aegis might be cheaper, but it's by no means worse. In fact, it could be considered an invaluable piece to any PLD. Considering it blocks as fast (or faster than) a Type 1 Shield (buckler) and blocks as much damage (or more than) as a Type 4 Shield (tower).. and then throw in the -25% Mgc. Damage.. you already have a powerful piece of equipment. Though most people consider one piece of relic to be more powerful than another (i.e. Guttler being the worse, Excalibur being the best, etc), they all have their uses. Aegis is being a PLD's best shield possible. Don't forget that the enhanced Shield Bash can increase damage up to 10x (as a known effect - not sure if it enhances Stun effect on it). Plus being the highest DEF shield available to PLDs.. well anyway.. you get the point.
Congrats Celvantes. Don't stop at your goal to obtain Aegis. And let me take a picture of it when you get it, so I can add you to my completed relic screenshot collection. ^-^

Did anyone imply this? D:

1. Nobody ever said Aegis is bad in any way.

2. Excalibur blows monkey sack. Nobody in their right mind would rate it "the best".

Congrats again Celv, the fight was a blast.

I would also like to add, I've never seen such a slow NM lol.

Aegis is cheaper than weapons, fool D: More like 280mil.
Aegis is -slightly- cheaper than other relics.. but not by much, maybe by two or three Dynamis 100-pieces.

What I said was just an example, hence the (i.e.) point, f.y.i. Some people, whether it be on forums or in-game.. seem to believe that only the high damage relics are the best (Amanomurakumo, Bravura, Apocalypse, Gungnir, Ragnarok). However, as I stated, each of the relics are the best weapons (or shield, in regards to Aegis) for their respective jobs. But anyway... let's not make a big deal about this. ^^; The main point of this thread is to congrat's Celv, so let's get back on track with that.

Yup, Aegis rocks, definately Aegis > Excalibur (Or if you have both I guess you're onto a winner, but your LS could have upgraded a better weapon than an excalibur)

But... Mandau is pretty snazzy, and Kikoku isn't so bad, Spharai are awesome, but all of these pale in insignificance when compared to...

The Gjallerhorn!

End of stupid post.

Congratulations Celvantes!

Good job cel. I'm sorry i couldn't be there to help. Looked like it was a fun fight

I think you missed the point of what Necrosis said. No one said Aegis was awful. I didn't say Aegis was awful. I was making light of the fact that Necrosis said be prepared to spend 300+ Mil, which is the going rate of weapons. But yeah, in terms of usefulness, it's right up there with horn in my opinion, simply because of it's constant effect, the structure of the item(block/reduction ratio,) and the fact that it's a pretty hefty boost to the damage Shield Bash does.

Aegis

Congrats man thats awesome..
The ægis (Gr. Αιγίς), in the Iliad, is the shield or buckler of Zeus, which according to Homer was fashioned for him by Hephaestus, furnished with golden tassels and bearing the gorgoneion— Medusa's head— in the centre. The Attic vase-painters retained an archaic tradition that the tassels had originally been serpents in their representations of the ægis.

When the Olympian shakes the ægis, Mount Ida is wrapped in clouds, the thunder rolls and men are smitten with fear. "Ægis-bearing Zeus", as he is in the Iliad, sometimes lends it to Athena and (rarely) to Apollo: in the Iliad Zeus sends Apollo to revive the wounded Hector and, holding the ægis, Apollon charges the Achaeans, pushing them back to their ships drawn up on the shore. According to Edith Hamilton's Mythology: Timeless Tales of Gods and Heroes [1], the Aegis is Zeus' breastplate, and was "awful to behold."

In a late rendering by Hyginus, (Poetical Astronomy ii. 13) Zeus is said to have used the skin of the goat Amalthea (aigis "goat-skin") which suckled him in Crete, as a buckler when he went forth to do battle against the titans. It was supposed by Euripides, (Ion, 995) that the Gorgon was the original possessor of this goatskin [2]. There is also the legend which represents the ægis as a fire-breathing chthonic monster like the Chimera, which was slain and flayed by Athena, who afterwards wore its skin as a cuirass (Diodorus Siculus iii. 70). Still others say it was the skin of the monstrous giant Pallas whom Athena overcame and whose name she attached to her own (John Tzetzes, On Lycophron,355).

Herodotus thought he had identified the source of the ægis in Libya, which was always a distant territory of ancient magic for the Greeks:

Athene's garments and ægis were borrowed by the Greeks from the Libyan women, who are dressed in exactly the same way, except that their leather garments are fringed with thongs, not serpents."[3]

The weilder of this will definitely be 1337 because this shield kicks a**
