American Cosplay / Japanese Cosplay

I've cosplayed before, and my friends do it much more frequently than I do. A lot of the people they showed are the extremes. There are people who can't sew well and either buy a costume or make it and it doesn't turn out well, and then there are people who sew very well and can produce a really nice looking costume. Most of the very good looking costumes take a long time to make, sometimes upwards of three months of hard work, and cost a fortune. Even the costumes that don't look that great, the people who really tried are proud to wear them.

My best friend Megan, she's cosplayed for years and has improved exponentially. She sews everything herself, and spends a ton of money. She also styles the wigs herself.

For those that went to Otakon this year, you might have seen her in this costume.

That being said, I would very much like to introduce the Japanese Tifa to Mufasa. (Mufasa is my penis.)

This is one of the few things ever posted on this board that actually made laugh out loud. I'd rate you up for it, but apparently, I've given you too much reputation recently (or some nonsense like that).

Unfortunately, mine is very appropriately named "Wittul Simba." T_T

She's Japanese, though. She's accustomed to that, right?

Very nice, but any true "Shiva" would go topless. I don't care what the FFXI version wears. Shiva = topless, because it makes me happy.

Did anyone else at first glance think that the Sephiroth was actually someone Cosplaying Storm from the X-men movies?

Edit:

It also helps for the japanese that theyre more conscious of what they look like(to the point of narcissism perhaps?) so when they look stupid they know when to not show themselves in public.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qcofZqccSQA Yes Japanese people really do care about not looking stupid in public.

Hmmm. You're comparing 2 different things. Americans are just making a cosplay of the SD version. =D
I have some pictures i made in Japan Expo in Paris, i'll post them later. Some pathetic examples too :)

touche. However those japanese guys seem to also have perfect hair they spent hours combing, $100 shampooo/perms, manicured nails, and enough skin lotions to make a faux bukkake-fest ect ect ect.

There were a lot of fantastic cosplayers at Otakon. As well as shitty ones. It's hard to believe that every single person in japan can cosplay perfectly. STOP PERPETUATING THE RACISM!

JP Fanboi eh? We know you love 'em.

At Sakura Con 2007 we had lot's of really good cosplayers, some really crappy ones as well. If I can ever get the pics from my roommate I'll post some of the good and the bad.

I agree with the guy who posted the comparisons. Cosplay should be banned in NA untill they take it seriously. XD

That is hilarious. Though the Japanese "Sephiroth" looks more like Kadaz to me.

This is why I'm afraid of trying cosplay. I would love to do some but I know that I need to buff up a little. Plus it would probably take me forever because I get really picky about something not being right.

You could always try role play in the bedroom with Tristam first.

Huh...I just gotta say that the Tifa and Rikku in the OP link are hot.

I'd totally go bi if it was for a cute japanese girl.
