I rememebr reading on one of the topic here a ways back that a couple summoners noticed leviathen resisted amnessia pretty well, and they were going to do a bit of testing as to whether having high water def would aid you in resisting amnesia...

Does anyone recall this? Either way, just a SH and merrow neckpiece gives me like 50 or so water resist, and as a dnc resisiting the crippling amnesia attack would give me a pretty wicked edge vs imps.

Hs anyone here ever resisted an amnessia attack at all? And has anyone tried stacking some water resist gear and testing it? I know if I toss my thunder staff in that'll be another 15 water, so that adds up to, what? 65? 70 water resist?

Would be sexy to hunt down a ramuh belt and stack it with sh/merrow necklace and solo imps... If it works.

Anywho, yeah, I'm almost at the level where I am partying these little buggers and any info would be gladly appreciated! Thanks

pretty sure fire resist is what you need and in the 300+ range to get decent resist rates, please do not try for 300 fire resist in merit PTs.

wow, yeah didnt know resists require that much, I see it's out of the question now.

Thanks though, I'll try it out though, not like swapping my chiv chain out is gonna matter that much really, but 300... ew

I've never seen myself resist a single amnesia, so I'd guess no, but I have nothing to base that off of except personal experience. Like TG said, buy an Ecphoria.

I've resisted amnesia a few times on my dnc. That ring is great, but don't bother buying it for the amnesia cure enchant. Imps spam amnesia like there's no tomorrow and it's got a 5 min recharge. What I'll typically do when pting on those on my dnc, or atleast the times I did fight em on dnc, was build tp then stand back by the mages to take over healing a bit. If you've got, which I highly suggest doing, ranged skill capped use a ranged weapon to build tp on imps.

Had mine since lv 50 ^_^

The tp store +1 goes well with carbonara, pushes my tp per round from 9 to 10.

I never thought of doing it with rng weapn, might grab some rng gear then and spam my chakram, then run in to quickstep the thing.

I've "evaded" it a few times, must be about a 1% chance... but it does happen. Never resisted it though.

My mistake. You're right Bladewind. I said I've resisted, but in actuality it was evaded. Close enough for me in my book, but maybe not in others.

There's quite a big difference, if you resist something, an aoe magic attack for example, you still take damage, even if it is reduced all the way to 0.

Evading something avoids the move entirely. As far as i know, there's no crossover between the 2, you can evade or resist. I could be wrong.

Those rules do not apply to TP moves. Parry, Guard, and Shield blocks display the evade message, even though those things are far from evading. In the chat log, you will either evade, take damage, or have it miss. So it's not far fetched to believe that resisting an effect from a damage-less status TP ability will also display the evade message(as opposed to a damage and status ability just not giving you the status effect while displaying a damage value.)

Ifrit is immune to amnesia as well.

Well I know when I go on my brd to The Boyahda Tree, putting up the silence resist songs while fighting the gobbues makes you evade their silence TP move like crazy. I think that IS a resist. I'm not entirely sure.

On a related note, have you ever seen a mob resist things like lullaby or finale, or various other damage less spells? The text for those says that the target resisted, be it mob or player. This makes me wonder what the difference is between evade and resist messages.

Sorry if my post seems a bit incoherent. My mind is running a million miles an hour tonight and I'm not sure why, so my train of thought is just all over. Hope you can understand where I was going.

I think it's because WSs and certain abilities are evaded, spells are resisted. The amnesia thing is an ability/WS so I would say that you can just evade it.

That makes pretty good sense to me. That would also include the gobbue silence which is a WS as well.

Yeah, when I use my ja Violent flourish, which is stun, if the mob evade sit just says "___ takes _ damage"

And when it hits it adds on "and is stunned"

Applies also to shield/weapon bash, shoulder tackle. Wheares the spell, stun, is resisted.

So spells you resist, abilities/ws you evade. Maybe it just has to do with difference between melee and magic?

Are there any spells that cause damage and add effect, burn/freeze/rasp and thsoe do right? They get resistsed, no? So it makes sense...

On the amnesia topic, if ifrit and leviathan both resist it, what about others?

Is titan weak to it? (never evades).

Does the ja have a set limit? Or has anyone here noticed it wearing really soon for them? Possibly when they ahd certain gear stacked?

For now ecphoria ring is all we got, but damn it'd make imps so much nicer exp if we foudn a way to resist that damn amnesia...

Leviathan and Ifrit are the only avatars that consistently evade amnesia since it is fire-based for those that are not aware.

The duration of amnesia depends on the lvl of the mob vs the player and some other factors (maybe mind, int and fire resistance from Barfire). I've found that the Campaign Imp's amnesia is easily evaded sometimes and if it does land it doesn't last nearly as long as the amnesia from Imps in the mire.

My Levi has actually been hit by Amnesia before... Just thought I'd throw that out there. ;)

I think they aren't immune, just incredibly resistant. Possibly like the acc thing in this game, never going below 5%, or above 95% (I think this is the general rule) . As far as weak to the move, since it is fire based, Shiva would be the weakest to it.

sometime i don't get paralyze from chariots in salvages , guess i better thanks my resist paralyze ;p
