I guess it's my turn now...

I can't imagine this day has come or should I say came around an another time. I'm retiring for a 2nd time, or at least taking an extended break.

I started to play back in the summer of 2004 because I had difficulties going through the process of my mom's death and quite frankly I was just trying to disconnect from the real world for a moment and catch a break from everyone "caring" too much about me and reminding me of my mom every 10 minutes in a day. I played on a non-regular basis until I canceled for the first time in 2006 due to school. In the end, the game played its role in helping me by offering the time to meditate peacefully.

Time's passed and toward the end of 2007 I fell ill due to work and had to stay home for the next 2 years. The Doc' was clear, I should not do anything "physical". So no work, no biking, no badminton, no swimming, etc. I did not even had the right to mow the grass in the backyard or clean the house. After a week or so watching TV ads and bad soap series, I decided to check if my character was still active on SE server. To my surprise, my character was still there, in Lower Jeuno waiting for me.

My true journey started there. In the following weeks, I finished leveling my PLD. Some of my friends introduced me to the HNM scene and I joined DarkDesire shortly after. At that time I was playing around 18-19h /day since I had nothing to do and was prohibited to almost do anything anyway. After a month or so after I joined DarkDesire on Kujata, the leaders decided that we had to move to a "weaker" server to get access to HNM since we were mostly doing sky and dynamis at that point. I had to decide between moving with some of my friends here or stay behind with my other friends. In the end, I decided to move here on Quetz, not necessarily just for my personal greed but to meet new people and get on a more organized server where we could find help faster and easier. I especially had in mind Chains of Promathia since it was still a bitch back then.

The only issues, well, our reputation as a shell. Flipae, Finisher and Goonles decided to play it like e-thugs the second they stepped in here. I like to think they were still good people in the shell and a couple stand out to confront them including me and limit collateral damage. We all know how it ended though.

I remember a night in Jeuno where we stole a dynamis zone from an another group. I felt so ashamed when we got out that I removed my pearl to go take a look. I finished my BRD around that time too. Shortly after we merged with the middle-east people and formed WeGotClaim. Same story, no structure whatsoever, e-thug way of doing things. Some people broke and we reformed as Epic until leaders swapped overnight with the bank on a different server because of the heat, bots, etc. Most of you know the drill about this kind of shit with shells like that. I ended up finishing CoP the week they swapped to Cerberus (or Caith Sith, I don't recall exactly where they ended up first). That was the last time I figured on a roster of an HNM shell. Sick of it, sick of people lying and shit. I can't face people with my gains in game if I got them unfairly. That's how I am. I'm loyal to my leaders but not at any cost either. I always taught people feared me for where I was coming from, in the end I really hope people saw me for who I was instead.

That's where I met people from Reliance, at that time starting Sea and Limbus. Moriarti and his crew welcomed me aboard even though they knew where I came from. I joined a couple of other shells around the same time (NoizyTribe, lolDynamis, Knights of Asgard). I quickly took the role of main tank with Mori's crew and fell under the BRD trap with the others (lolol). After a couple of months, I left lolDynamis due to personal conflicts and started Reliance's Dynamis shell with the others. At that point we were doing 5 days a week in term of events. I'm pretty sure we burnt ourselves during that 1 year period. When I started to work again I had to cut through sea times and people started to leave the shell mainly for personal reasons. Then a couple of months later, everyone moved/quit. My playtime dropped a lot at that point because I had lost my closest friends in game. Since then I joined a couple of shells but I couldn't keep up due to work and had to call it. I also have issues keeping up with new content in game making my turbo-haste-lvl75-PLD-16-gear-swap-french-canadian-wonder useless to the new stuff.

The last straw came two months ago. It's not a secret to anyone who knows me that I'm starting a computer business and at the moment all my spare time goes entirely in there. I also have a girlfriend now that I need to care about. Add that to my already busy schedule of 40h/week job and 20h of traffic and you got my typical week for the last two months. Beside the fact that I feel like I'm about to die due to too much work and my MS Outlook managing my life, it doesn't leave a lot of time to even play Solitaire lol. I have good hope that everything should settle down by the time 14's hits the shelves.

Until then, I shall sheath my virtual sword and take a break until I decide what I should do with Trib's account. That should explain why I was not in-game for the last 2 months. I'd like to think it's just a goodbye since I'll definitely be back for 14 (with a bigger beard this time around!). It's just that I need to put my real life priorities upfront. I'll miss this game, as a big ff fan and I'll miss a lot of people as my buddies and friends that shared my virtual journey in game.

I'd like to extend my thanks to a couple of people out there.

My french group on Kujata: Celelove, Vede, Eulogy, Franca, Msieumlke, Gigagecko, Gropitou, Galia and Daimen. Those are the people who helped me out on Kujata when I was still starting. A great bunch of people and good friends.

Reliance group: Moriarti, Caliysto, Rhay, Lecreuset, GoD, Davion, Xynin, Erioll, Hellstorm, Sbec, Tiael, Meximan. The game wouldn't be/is not the same without you. You were good companions in some cases, partner in crimes in other but above everything else, the best friends you could get in this game. You were always present and punctual to any events and made events the smoothest thing on earth. You taught me a lot of things and made me the solid tank I was until the very end. For those who still play in the group or read the board here, keep rocking on! (Eri: I still blame you :).)

NoizyTribe: Thank you for accepting me in your social shell guys. I know I haven't been there a lot due to events but I felt welcomed every time I came on the shell in the late hours of the day. You're by far the best social shell I've ever had and I saw a lot of you give of your time to help people out and I respect you people for stuff like that. Keep pushing on, I'll miss you a lot and I hope we'll be able to meet again soon enough.

Friends:

- Bekki: Canucks sucks. 'nuff said! <3
- Davion: Where is my sammy? ;). I'll miss your maniacal laugh and your humor :D!
- GodofDeath: You'll never get over milkshake maker and jalapenos lol. You'll probably remember me for the "guy who lost hate on Invincible" lol. I still wish you the best effing mexican :).
- Hexx: Thank you for letting me join Limbus after Reliance disbanded. I'm sorry I couldn't be more present to events. You're a good tank, so keep on rocking bro :).
- Jenesys: It was always a pleasure talking with you! Thank you for that and helping me out on a lot of things!
- Khidir: Thank you for Nyzul Isle man, it was a fun run with you :)!
- Kohra: <Kohra> I love snatch! The best sentence I heard from you bro lol. Have fun if you're still playing :)
- Lecreuset: I know you're probably lurking around but thank you for helping me out on PLD and being at the same time a fantastic co-tank and a very good friend!
- Myrrh: I'll fucking scotchtape my province to your fucking country bitch! <3
- Orinna: Don't worry girl, I'll be back for 14 ;). I miss you a lot <3!
- Otaru: I'll miss your imported mexican voice on Vent lol. I hope your grocery store is going as planned!
- Timwakefield: I'll miss you, you were always a good team player and I was happy to have you aboard Assaults!
- Twinzero: The most dedicated leader to a shell I ever encountered. If endgame shell would have had leaders like you, HNM wouldn't be the shit hole as it always been lol. I wish you the best in the future.

I know I missed a lot of you in my thank you list but you have my sincerest gratitude for sharing my playtime and a part of my life with you. Memories that have been made in-game are not forgotten and so do friendships. It feels awkward to say that I won't log anymore after spending so much time in a realm that was close to a second life. I guess it's just time to move on.

I'll miss you my friends, I really hope that you had a good time with me as much as I had with you in the last years! We'll see each others in 14 for those who'll make the jump. For those who'll stay behind, maybe you'll see me roam around Vana'diel again. Until then, good bye!
