And you thought 33% was bad!

how the hell can people remain loyal to this console? i don't understand it.

Time to put your big boy pants on.

No kidding. If the PS3 came out at this price or even lowered to this price earlier then well after its too late. Most people already have their whole game libraries on the 360. Rebuying all those games and depending on tapped in you are to your online friends, having to make all new ones, would totally suck.

This is what you can do with the info Gameinformer has compiled... Throw it out.

I believe Nintendo reported less then 2% failure rate. I have no idea what the PS3s failure rate is. Just take the percentage Nintendo had and compare it to GIs info. GIs percentage is 3x higher then what Nintendo reported. So... Its fair to divide PS3 and 360s failure rate by 3 according to GIs info and guess what... The failure rate is even less then what MS reported.. Lmao. Basically GIs info is shit.

Yeah, never got the RROD myself, but the laser did go out on my xbox a little less than a year after I purchased it. I got my new elite back and so far it has worked like a charm (knock on wood).

Just me but, I've had alot more issues with my PS3 than I have with my 360. Dont know about Wii since I sold mine after like 2 months lol.

Yeah, I don't quite buy these figures either. That'd mean that roughlty 16,000,000 360's have RRoD'd; and there's no way that'd be kept quiet for only Game Informer to discover. Based on my own sample of 8 people with 360's, only 1 has had a RRoD, so I don't buy a 54% failure rate. Especially since they're saying that it's actually gone up, even after all of the improvements to the console to increase reliability.

I love how they also say that the reason the Wii's failure rate is so low is because no one plays it. I wouldn't be surprised if sony paid for the test.

And no class action lawsuit to be found.

They very may well be the real figures that GI got in the poll. The people could have lied.

A 50% failure rate wouldn't really surprise me, nor would it surprise the UPS guy who delivered the coffin the last time I got the RRoD. He said he'd delivered so many of them there was no way he'd consider buying a 360.

The figures don't shock me, and I don't believe they're false. Being on my 8th Xbox, you can't blame me for believe them, either. I've had 8 Xbox's, and 7 so far have failed within 13 months of their manufacture date. Not including my current Xbox which will break within the forseeable future, that's a 100% fault-rate. 50%~ break-rate? I'm shocked it's not higher.

Poles like this are useless, they mean nothing. Wonder how many sony fanboys claimed to have had 3+ rrod when they have never even owned one and vice versa.

I dunno, I'm inclined to believe it honestly, especially the 360 bit. Have a lot of friends who've gotten the red rings of death, one of them twice. Never owned one myself, but with the numbers of failures that high, I'm not inclined to buy one in the foreseeable future.

It's difficult to say. It's probably balanced out by MS fanboys saying that they had zero RROD when they're on their 3rd 360 though.

I believe it. We've gone through three 360s, the last one died a couple weeks after the warranty was up. I've had it with their crap. Despite many years of gaming I refuse to buy another one. I miss my old reliable black Xbox.

i have 3 360's, all from different production periods, One from launch, one elite and another a year after launch, no failure at all with mine and i use mine daily, except for my elite which now is just sitting un updated and waiting for the homebrew hack to come out.

Ahh but you know how to take them apart and maintain them properly! Many consumers don't and are afraid to even attempt it because of the clause.

Not saying this is what you've done to all your systems for them to have worked so wonderfully for you, or anyone else who's not been smacked in the face with the constant MS consol issues.

I am on consol #3 as well. Tired beyond belief with the bs MS puts us through.

But that's me, and most are well aware I will bitch till my tongue turns green abuot MS and still remain a huge fan of my gaming, but I'm a fan of gaming in general which ever way I can get it.

3 of my friends have 360's, and all of theirs has got the RRoD. Even one of my friend's sister and her friend's have got it. So I'm not shocked.

Then they used the towel trick which fixed it, but they don't feel like doing that every time it get a RRoD. And now the towel trick doesn't even work for some of them.
