And you thought North Korea had the nukes?

Freeze 2, besides being the most effective element on the majority of mobs, you get an extra 10 elemental and 5 int from the HQ staff. Many people overlook that, but it's like having an AF+1 hat on and AF2 hat on at the same time.(+ the actual hat you're wearing)

If you (and whoever else has an opinion on this) were buying your HQ staves one at a time (as I will be doing lol), what order would you buy them in? I've gotten a couple of different responses from friends on this so I'm curious what other blms think.

Ice, Thunder, Fire, Dark(drain, aspir, sleep), Wind, Water, Earth, Light(many things more important than HQ light staff).

Thank you! Um yeah...I might skip the HQ light staff altogether. Unless I have money to waste and pretty much nothing else to buy. Not likely given my budget.

If you are basing the dmg on the screenshots then you are underestimating things.

I have screenshots where Fire and myself both broke 1,600 on Thunder IV : no weather, no Obi, but both with relic pants. I'm sure there are some mega dmg dealers on the server, but I thought I'd just point this fact out. Screenshot to follow once I get home from work (if proof needed)

I was curious because Ive never seen you with obi's Z, but anways its not Thunder 4 but does this count 0.o?

I put Neptune's staff (water) ahead of Auster's staff (wind) just for the fact that:

1) 1 extra mnd on stoneskin never hurts
and
2) Flood2 is a great spell for lowering thunder resists when you have more than 1 blm in your party. One watersday with obi, af2, and hq stave it's pretty sexy damage too.

However, friend just left the game and gave me his k.pole, so 1) can be completely ignored if you have one.

But if you fight kirin often (i don't) then I can see why you'd pick auster's above neptune's.

These two staves are kinda either-or though. You won't be hurting all that bad no matter which one you choose first.

I don't even own an earth staff. I should, but I don't.

And apollo's/light staff is pretty useless for us blm's, but pretty sexy in temenos. Only reason I own apollo's is for my bst.

Wow, really? HQ wind was third on my list simply because of gravity and silence (not in sky anymore, so no Kirin). Granted, I do play rdm a lot too, but those two spells just seem especially important to me.

For staves, I did thunder, ice, wind, dark, then probably HQ light for brd. If I'm casting Fire spells its because I accidentally hit the wrong macro. I'll get HQ water for Flood 2 someday and HQ fire to complete the set, but there's other gear I'd much rather have first.

Go with whatever you think would be most useful for how you play your mages though ^^

Yeah, if you're rdm, then gravity and silence would be pretty important since you spend a lot more time in parties for your merits.

I mostly solo. I manaburned once 2 days ago for my first time in months. And the last party I had before that was like the day after AM2 was introduced into the game. So you can guess how often I interact with people outside of limbus, dynamis, etc. For a rdm, it'd definitely be wind then water. For a solo blm, it's kinda either-or. My gravities stick with NQ. I had the HQ for several months, but I traded it in on an even swap with some other gear for a Leopard Axe for my bst (incredibly rare, but not incredibly amazing).

Yeah, that's basically my mindset too. :) Nothing really to debate here.

Obi's make a hella difference.I estimate around 150 - 200 more per IV cast.
I need to get off my arse to get Sea <note to self>

Most blm see the dmg you can do with a IV as the most important, because it's far more mp efficient than aga 3

Yeah, the obi's are a straight 10% extra damage compared to what you would have ordinarilly done granted that it's the appropriate day of the week. Add a weather effect and it's 20%. Double weather jumps to 30%. Throw in AF2 and I believe that's 5% more. The numbers are just sick when you put it to action. On ice/thunder day of the week, I merit off of marids a lot because I can still hit chain #2 every time, and the money is nice. :)

I'm sure zeo knew this though. He's a powerhouse. This is to anyone who didn't.

God dayum. I'm afraid to see what you'd do with rairin/hyorin obi.

hmm are we talking aboout the same pudding the ones in mount zhayolm near where cerbris spawns? They didnt seem that hard soloing them on rdm/blm about 3 months ago. Did they buff them up or something? of course I chould never get a chain 5.
