Simple poll. Yes or no with some decent reasons. Any posts that seem to move off topic will simply be deleted.

Yes, but within reason. Nothing stupid like near porn or something.

Just say if its not allowed stationary, its not allowed animated :P

Voted yes

Miros, I keep thinking those flying birds on your post body are flys on my comp screen. lol distracting but I'll get used to them. :)

Yes, but within reason, like the above have said.

I don't see the issue if it's just animated text, or in Miros' case, a lighted cigarette. And who still uses 56k anyway? Animated text isn't going to make or break your connection. If it was bad to begin with, it's going to be bad with or without the moving avatars.

As was said, within reason. If someone's avatar becomes an issue, report and move on I guess.

Nice timing on this issue though, I've been missing my old Louie punch avatar.

If you can do it, and it won't hurt anyone, you should. That same answer applies to pretty much any optional feature, in my oppinion. Let the people eat cake! I think the days of catering to 800x600 resolutions and 56k modems are over. If people don't have a reason to upgrade, because the world voluntarily stays behind to accomodate them, there will be no progress in the world. I know I gear my own site to fancy monitors and high speed internet.

Worst case scenario is that a page with a lot of new avatars take an extra minute or two to load. Unless someone's constantly clearing their image cache, this shouldn't really be enough of an issue for them to be up in arms about.

Yes menthol boy.

If they are enough to cause an epileptic moment... I would find them annoying enough to abuse my moderator privileges and replace them with warm fuzzy bears =D. *that was only slightly sarcastic*

So, to that end, reasonable is good. I don't want to see anything similar to the flashing banners you get saying "YOU HAVE WON!" *flash* *strobe* *flash*

I say yes, my reason(s) why are in my original thread made that was moved to the mod board don't think I can carry it over but I'll check my posts.

edit: yeah not in thread/post history on my side

yes, but like said before within guidelines

Maybe a size limit. Nothing too stringent, but who really wants to sit through a 10 meg gif?

Voted no, because some people on this board fail in the department of common sense, so they will just go far beyond the limits and get it taken away again.

QCDN can never have nice things.

Yes from me. The old dial up reasons from Sculli was a pretty lame argument. Most of the avatars will sit in cache and even if they don't with today's internet speeds most will not even have an issue.
