Just wondering how many people on these forums are any fellow anime fans? I've been watching anime for roughly 9 years, have a collection of over 90 VHS tapes, and ever since I got my cable modem, downloaded roughly over 200-300 gigs of the stuff.

Current favorites include: Naruto, One Piece, and possibly gonna start downloading Full Metal Alchemist, even though it got licensed, I can find some places.

Old favorites: Rurouni Kenshin, Cowboy Bebop, Hellsing, Slayers 3 seasons, Full Metal Panic, Excel Saga, Dragonball Z, Evagelion, etc.

Currently got 70 gigs of anime, starting to burn some stuff and make room for more, anyway, just wanted to start some discussion. =)

I LUV MY ANIME ang manga too. hehe.
favorite anime movie is definitely Princess Monoke

favorite series: Robotech, i kno the arts not great, and the storys a little sketchy, but i started watching it when i was 7 (11 years ago) so i cant help but luv it ^.^ Naruto and Luv Hina r second

favorite manga is definitely Luv Hina, followed by Marmalade Boy and then Naruto

I'm cheap so i dont buy too much, usually bum it off my friends or get scans online. hehe

I dont read manga...=p, but im pretty big on anime. Some of my favs are Onegai Teiichaa, Chobitsu, Tenchi Muyo, Full Metal Panic too (thats a great one, im addicted to Mikuni Shimokawa =p),Gundam series, Gasaraki, Saishu Heiki Konojo, GTO, and i cant name all the other great ones, if u dunno any of these, which is doubtful, check em out.
Favorite movie...errr.... Spirited Away? cant think back all that far.

Yay for romantic comedies...in fact, if u guys know any good ones, hit me up with a PM, ill find it.

Heh... I think I completely stopped watching anime when I started playing FFXI. Now I just don't keep up on it anymore, but my old favorites were Rurouni Kenshin and Martian Successor Nadesico.

As far as music goes, there's no band quite like Siam Shade. The "1/3 Pure-heated Emotions" (translated title) off that Kenshin closing is an okay song, but it's crap compared to what the band's truly capable of in their other works. I would describe it as "Dream Theater meets Bon Jovi," and I highly recommend songs like Prayer, Bloody Train, Dreamless World, and the instrumental Virtuoso.

i love anime and manga. I read the whole deal of manga and I'm downloading naruto. (stupid things take a week to downkiad. and of course im about 70 episodes beihind :sigh:)

I love naruto but i hate one piece. Absolutely hate one piece. What is the point? They guy is made of rubber and he cant ever touch water and he is trying to become a pirate captain. Come on WTF?

I loves the anime! I think my fave series so far still goes to Escaflowne (Before they butchered it) but I'm currently really into Last Exile. I really want to see Naruto but I'm waiting on a friend to get me the episodes and gave up on Inu Yasha after 90-something odd episodes. It should of ended by then. I love the darker angel-esque anime like X and Angel Sanctuary (Anyone know where I can find episodes 4-On?) but still love series like Gravitation.

I dig the J-rock also. Bands like Luna Sea, Gackt (looking foreward too Bujingai next week), Malice Mizer, Dir En Grey, Siam Shade, Every Little Thing, L'arc en ciel and some others I can't remember off the top of my head.

Thank god for the land of the rising sun! Hopefully we see some more of the higher profile movies make it to theaters like Spirited Away and see them get the appreciation they deserve!

Dir en Grey wasn't bad, but it didn't quite suit my tastes. L'arc was good, but severely overhyped. But I love the orchestral/metal style Gackt displays on occasion, even if the singer sounds like nails on a chalkboard. And I absolutely enjoy Luna Sea.

Malice Mizer was previously recommended to me, but I have yet to get my hands on any. And this is the first I've heard of "Every Little Thing." What are they like?

I am a sucker for the Anime . . . and to an extent Manga.

I like the surreal anime the most, stuff like Soul Taker for all its flaws and RahXephon . . . but I will always have a soft spot for dark spooky moody anime . . .

as for the J-Rock . . . I blame Sabia for that one, introducing me to Glay and me actually liking it . . .

but Malice Mizer all the way, Gackt and Hyde . . .

now I should really get back to that work thing . . .

To each their own I guess. But anyway Every Little Thing has kind of a dance-ish feel to them. Female singers, not usually the kind of stuff I'd listen too but I really dig them for some strange reason. I don't know if you'd like Malice Mizer if you don't like Gackt seeing as he headed up quite a few of their more popular songs.

A few other bands I dig that just popped into my head are Bz, TM Revolution & Plastic Tree. Did you check out that awesome Luna Sea 3 disc set? Kind of a best of effort in the fancy cardboard box? Picked that up for an awesome deal...I think i paid like $25 canadian for it!

Heh, I'm a sucker for female vocals whenever I can find it in the rock scene; I'll have to give that one a try. Unfortunately, the only actual legit cd's I own are whatever anime soundtracks I could pick up from the rental store I used to frequent before I moved. I got scared out of my wits from ever importing from online sites when I saw some of the price tags, and someone I met in FFXI said he spent almost $80 US for a Siam Shade live DVD. O_O

Jesus Murphy that's a lot of money! In Calgary we have a China Town so I usually pick up imported CD's for about $15-$25 per disc so I have quite a few legitimate CDs. I don't think I'd order online either, what seems like a good deal usually isn't because usually the prices are in American funds and then you add like a $7 shipping fee. So that's like 6 million dollars canadian.

A couple of the other female bands I dig are BOA and Do as Infinity and Ayumi's always good =)

Wow, it's funny that I've lived in Michigan all my life but I've never once been to Canada yet..... though I do have much of your country's change in my pockets. :P

My fiance's family hosted a japanese exchange student one year. It got crazy when I visited and shared my song collection, and she'd get extremely excited about songs she "hadn't heard in years." And when we watched my Rurouni Kenshin dvd's, she'd start singing along to the "Freckles" opening theme song. O_O

man! how did i ever miss this thread!?!?!?!

i LOVE anime as well!! although i never have the time to watch them......i do collect manga tho!
its starting to become more mainstream now so theres soo much out there to collect! ^_^

My current fave anime/manga are: fushigi yuugi, chobits, vampire princess miyu, noir, weiss kreuz.......

i also love the artwork by Clamp (cardcaptor sakura, chobits, magic knights rayearth) !! they're style is pretty unique and alot of their art is just simply beautiful!

As for music..........i like alot of the J-pop stuff especially the female vocalists.....ayumi hamasaki, hikaru utada, maaya sakamoto, rina aiuchi, yuko sasaki.......and bands like two-mix, speed, boa............etc

haha i just like everything japanese..........:D

I was wrong, my fav movie was Galaxy Express 999, was so long ago, i completely forgot about it.

If you like Two-Mix, you'll like Misty Eyes. Im totally hooked on the Gundam SEED opening by Nami Tamaki. I heard her song "Believe" in a Soul Calibur video with my fav guy, Crono. Another good band is Dream, their music to Hikaru no Go is GREAT! I love the song "Get Over It." Be sure to listen to that, its nice. If youre into Initial D type music, check out Yuki Kimura. I should start digging through my old CDs.

Enough J-Pop...start a J-Rock thread. X-JAPAN.

Cool cool. I was minorly dissapointed in Wieb Kreuz.. aka. Knight Hunters anime. It was alright, I liked most of it, just wasnt that great. It felt like watching a male version of Bubblegum Crisis 2035(?cant remember the #'s) except without kickass suites.. and just kick ass weapons.

Fushigi Yugi.. gotta be one of THE best anime series ever, just dont expect the oav and 'movie' to be anywhere near as good. (I bought the whole series just to watch it whenever I wanted ^^; and I'm a guy. O.o )

Currently, if i can find the 1st dvd anywhere, id be watching the Witch Hunter Robin series. Also watching Twelve Kingdoms.

I just realized i have a crapload of different animes.. Figure ill name all the ones I own for the heck of it.

Dragon Ball Z + movies & GT, Devil Lady, Rurouni Kenshin + oavs, .Hack //Sign, .Hack Luminality, PHOTON, Blue Seed + movie, Amazing Nurse Nanako, Fushigi Yugi + movie&oav, Knight Hunters (wieb krues), Berserk, Twelve Kingdoms, Artimage III/Dual Mtx combo, Generator Gawl, Vampire Hunter D: BloodLust, Record of Lodoss War, Bastard!, Sorcerer Hunters, all the Tenchi Muyo movies (3 of them), Cowboy Bebop the movie, Escaflowne movie, Spirited Away, and just recently picked up the first dvd in the Ghost In the Shell series.

Yep.. I think I like anime... lol.

As for music, I like most things except Rap and Country, but I favor Heavy Metal most. I hate pop music because its so damn catchy you find yourself singing it one day just cause you heard it once and now you cant get it out of your head. Hehe.. k done now.

some of those I've never even heard of. I like shows like DBZ, Kenshin, Inyuasha, Big O, Cowboy Bebop, Yu Yu Hakusho, Sailor Moon (oops...lol) that's all the ones' I watch.

I like Country, Rap, Rock, Alternative music...anything really

Hmmmm. Anime. I think I've been happily obsessed with this hobby for a damn long time. I think I was seven when it all started. Had my first gundam toy at that age. I am old school. My first anime when growing up was (all filipinos in their mid 20s should remember this, and if not shame on you) Voltes V. But then again, when growing up in the Philippines for 10 years and having more readily access to Japan than America back then gave me an edge. (where this edge is, I don't know, lol) Now, I can say that for me Anime is more of a lifestyle and I can't get enough of it, even took two semesters of Japanese. Having said that, yes I mostly watch anime subtitled. (Let's not have this thread become subtitled vs. dubbed) I regularly go to anime conventions and was part of press at one point and got to meet and interview some of the creators and voice actors of some shows. BTW, the author of Love Hina has a wife that has the same personality as Naru Narusegawa. Oh boy, I've rambled too much about this, my fault. So yeah, I am a fan. Bokuwa animeno otakudesu. Sumimasendeshita.

You guys so need to check out Last Exile...it's awesome ^^
